Part 257
They had been alone for several minutes when Becca interrupted Julie's far away thoughts.
"Crazy, isn't it?"
"Becca, it's nuts. I mean-" She broke off, shaking her head.
"I know, Julie. There are days when I still just look around and say 'wow'."
"Becca, this is just so weird for me."
"I'm sorry, I don't mean for you to be uncomfortable."
"Nah, it's my hangup not yours!" Julie laughed derisively. "It's just Becca, I've been fantasizing about your husband, and telling you all about it. It's just wrong!"
Becca laughed. "But Julie, he's just so so ."
"Fuckable?"
"God, yes," Becca moaned.
"And WHO told him he could do that to his hair?!"
Becca smirked.
"You did that on purpose, didn't you? You know what seeing him like that does to me. All messy and "
Becca folded her arms across her breasts and leaned back, enjoying every minute.
Then a light seemed to dawn in Julie's eyes. "And you get to see it for real . the just-been-fucked hair . God, you suck." She closed her eyes and moaned.
"I'm so glad you could come over!" Becca smiled. "It's just such a relief to be able to talk about all this to someone."
"How have you managed to NOT talk about it? Or about ANYTHING that's been happening? God, Bec, you've heard all the speculation and the rumors and all the time you could have set us straight."
"It was all privileged information, Julie. The tour, the stuff with Alex-"
"He looks amazing, Bec."
"Yeah, he's doing great and Denise is so proud of him. We all are."
"So where's this new baby I 'm hearing so much about?"
"I thought you'd never ask!" Becca giggled. "Grab my robe off the back of the chair and we'll go for a walk."
"Is 'HE' going with us?" Julie nodded to the door where Billy was stationed.
"Billy? Yep, he's my shadow. Don't let him scare you, he's a real pussycat at heart."
Julie snorted. "Damn big pussycat, if you ask me."
Becca was still a little wobbly, so she held on to Julie as they made their way to the nursery. This time there was a crowd at the nursery window; new fathers, new mothers and assorted grandparents. Becca edged her way in between, pulling Julie with her.
"There he is, over there." Becca smiled, pointing out the tiny bundle in the blue blanket.
"Bec, he's beautiful," Julie sighed biting her tongue to keep from finishing the rest of the thought.
"Just like Nick," Becca giggled. "Right?"
"Busted," she chortled. "Life is good, Bec," she sighed. "Yesterday I had no clue I'd be standing in a Toronto hospital looking at Nick Carter's baby. So are you gonna tell the rest of the list?"
"Yeah, I think I am. It feels good to be able to do this. No pictures yet, though. I need to talk to Nick about that first."
"Well, I won't say anything yet. You let me know when you're ready. Hey! After you're out of here we can set up a chat for the list! Prepare to be bombarded with questions."
"Oh wait, here's a twisted idea add Nick to the list and we'll bring him into the chat on Sarah's laptop. They'll die!"
"Ah, there's the twisted friend I know and love." Julie laughed, earning her a strange look from some of the people gathered close by. "You look tired. Come on, I'll help you back to your room."
"It's almost time for them to bring the babies around. Wanta stay?"
"Oh, I'd love to! They won't mind?"
"Nah, I'll just tell them you're family. They're already convinced I have the largest, strangest family around," Becca laughed.
Julie hung around until Sarah returned with Denise. The closer it got to show time, the more flustered she became at the thought of actually being front row for a show. She paced the hospital room until Becca's dinner arrived and Denise threw them out.
