Part 292
In Howie’s dressing room, he looked at Sarah. He had heard the whole conversation and knew that Sarah was going to perform tonight and he knew she had a good reason to go against his wishes. He also knew he could probably get her to confess but he had to do it carefully. Slipping off his shirt, he asked casually, "So, what were you and AJ working on?"
"New stuff," answered Sarah evasively. Lying down on the bed, she closed her eyes hoping Howie would drop the subject. It almost worked too.
Sitting beside her, he took her hand in his. "You know, dancing around to Shania Twain’s music always makes you tired."
‘Shit…he heard us!’ thought Sarah. How was she gonna cover now? Thinking fast, Sarah said, "I was just having some fun, D. We’d BEEN finished and the sound crew was coming in to get ready to do sound checks."
Howie took a serious tone. "Sarah, I know you. When you get something in
your head that you want to do, you’ll stop at NOTHING until you do it."
"Howie, I promise…I’m NOT gonna do anything to put the babies or myself at risk," reassured Sarah. She hated keeping things from Howie but she had to do it this way. It was the only way he would save face with Kevin and she knew he’d understand her reason once he heard it.
Howie looked at her and shook his head. "Woman…you’re gonna be the death of me."
Grinning impishly, Sarah said, "But ya love me!"
"Very much," laughed Howie.
"Then show me, D," purred Sarah as she ran her hands across his bare chest.
Howie moved so he could lay beside her running his hand down her side to her waist. Moving in close, he gave her a chaste kiss before running his tongue along her lips tasting her. At the same time, he slipped his hand under her shirt caressing her soft skin.
Sarah draped her leg across his pulling him closer as they lay together. At the same time, she ran her fingers though the hairs on his chest feeling it curl around her fingers as they kissed. The feel of his body pressed against her was heaven but it also triggered the guilty feelings of holding back on him. She had to tell him. Pushing him back, she whispered, "Stop."
Seeing the look in her eyes, Howie asked, "What’s wrong, Angel?"
"I need to talk to you, D."
"About what, Angel?" knowing full well what she was going to say.
Sarah dropped her gaze from his feeling extremely guilty and knowing he was going to be furious with her.
Howie saw the look on her face and he said softly, "Sarah, I already know what you’re gonna do."
Starting to ask how, Sarah was interrupted by a knock at the door and Kevin sticking his head in, "Hey…hate to tear you away from your wife, D, but we need to do sound checks."
"I’m on my way, Kevin." He waved to Kevin to leave and turned his attention back to Sarah. "I love you with all my heart, Angel and we’ll talk later."
"I love you too, Howard, with all my heart," whispered Sarah.
Howie moved in to kiss her, his lips parting and his tongue sweeping her mouth touching every sensitive spot imaginable. Sarah whimpered as he pulled back from the kiss. "You’re my heart. I’ll see you at dinner," he said tenderly as he caressed her cheek.
Sarah watched as Howie got up, pulled his shirt back on, and headed out to join the others. Rolling on her back, she realized that the only way she’d be able to go on tonight was to avoid him and THAT was NOT going to be an easy task. They had been inseparable ever since she’d reached Toronto. In fact, today had been the first day they’d been apart more than a few minutes.
