Part 3
In the car, Howie pulled Sarah to him, running his hand down her side to her waist. He leaned to her claiming her mouth with his own in a lustful kiss. His tongue wrapping around hers, teasing her, tasting her, tempting her.
Pulling back and moving down her neck, Howie continued kissing her, nibbling at the sensitive spots, and running his hands over her body.
Sarah whimpered softly as she ran her hands through his hair. "Who missed whom?" she teased.
"I never said I didn’t miss you. God, I got so use to having you beside me in bed."
"Did you sleep?"
"Not much. What about you?"
"I slept on the plane, listening to you sing. What’s going on? Who’s suspicious?"
"Nick. He kept asking where you were and the others helped me cover for you."
"Do they know?"
"I told them you’d found Becca and were going to get her but that’s it."
"God! Are they ever in for a surprise."
"Especially Nick. She looked good."
"A little too pale if you ask me but otherwise…."
As the car moved through the streets, Sarah played with the buttons on Howie’s shirt. She was extremely happy to have Becca home where she belonged and her relationship with Howie was stronger than ever but there was one thing missing. She had one more friend to make things right again with and it had to be this weekend.
As if he could read her mind, Howie said, "This weekend is about starting over, Angel. Why don’t you talk to him?"
"I guess it’s long overdue, isn’t it?"
Howie smiled, "Yeah, I’d say so. You know, he loves you almost as much as I do."
"Yeah, I do know," said Sarah softly as she remembered the kiss he’d given her the night of Nick’s birthday party. She knew if she’d met him first, they would be together but Howie had stolen her heart and Sarah was deeply and passionately in love with him. "D, are you still cool with how he feels about me?"
"There are times when it bugs me, like when he thought I wasn’t taking care of you or when he stares at you."
"Did you ever say anything to him about what he did that night at ‘Club Fun’?"
"You mean the kiss? No, I let it go. There was so much going on that night that the kiss was minor. We were all worried about you."
The car pulled up to Howie’s trailer that was his dressing room and they got out. Howie had brought Sarah a change of clothes so they went in for her to change. Then they walked together to the make-up trailer where they ran into Nick coming out.
When Nick saw Sarah, he scoped her up in a bear hug. "WOMAN! Don’t EVER scare me like that again! Where the hell have you been?"
"I had something important to do before I could come down. Why were you scared?"
"My world has changed so damn much over the last few months, I don’t think I could take it if something happened to you and Howie. When you didn’t come down with us, I thought for sure something was wrong?"
"Nope! We’re fine, Nicky," said Sarah tenderly. Nick had become very dependent on her ever since she’d gotten out of treatment. She didn’t mind too much. Nick was like a little brother to her. "Where are you headed?"
"To change."
"Cool. I’ll see you when you’re ready," said Sarah giving him a kiss on the cheek. Then she gave Howie a kiss and said, "I’m gonna go walk on the beach while you get ready."
"I’ll come get you when it’s time," he said.
Howie and Nick watched as Sarah made her way across the beach just a few hundred feet from the trailer then headed their separate ways each deep in their own thoughts.
As Nick stepped into the trailer, he saw Sarah standing at the edge of the water, her sandals in her hand and the breeze blowing her hair. ‘Damn! Howie is so lucky! They went through hell but Sarah never ran away. She told him everything and they faced their problems together. Why couldn’t Becca be more like Sarah in THAT respect?’
For Howie, his thoughts ran through his plans. The wedding was set for sunset tomorrow night and both families were already there. All he had to do was pick the right time to propose to her.
Meanwhile, as Sarah walked in the water, Kevin spotted her and decided to go down to talk to her. He was glad to see that she had made it and he prayed that she wouldn’t bolt when he approached her. As he drew closer, she turned and looked up to face him. His heart went into his throat thinking she was going to take off.
