Part 352
Sarah gave Kevin a hand cleaning up the kitchen after dinner and when they were done, she went to find Howie. He was by the pool finishing his drink when she found him. She walked up behind him slipping her arms around his waist placing a kiss on his shoulder.
"What ‘cha thinkin’ about, ‘D’?" she asked softly.
Howie looked over his shoulder at her and smiled, "Home."
"Homesick too?"
"A little but I’ve got you and Jesse with me so it’s not so bad. We’ve got about 15 shows to go and a handful of guest appearances to do before we can go back to Florida."
"Will we be home for Halloween?"
Howie shook his head, "I don’t think so, Angel. Why?"
"I had wanted to take Jesse Trick or Treating and there’s the party at Tabu."
Howie laughed, "Angel, you couldn’t go to it ….not in costume anyway."
"What? Don’t you think I’d make a good ‘ho’?" teased Sarah.
"No, not pregnant."
"What is our schedule like after the tour anyway?"
"There’s the Concert for New York City on the 20th, ‘United
We Stand’ in DC the next day, and TRL on the 23rd. Then there’s a handful of
talk shows to do along with the Sesame Street segment we’re doing and ‘Arthur’."
Sarah groaned, "We’ll be in New York for a while is what you’re saying."
"You don’t have to stay with us after TRL, Angel. You could fly home with Jesse if you want."
Sarah looked at Howie. "What do you want me to do?"
"That is completely up to you but I’d prefer to have you with me."
"Then I’ll stay with you. I don’t ever want to be away from you again."
Howie turned and put his arm around her leading her to a chair where they sat together. Sarah rested her head on Howie’s chest as he lovingly stroked her stomach.
"You know, the day your video premieres, you should be at TRL…at the very least, call in."
"I’ll call in. I’ve been thinking about Becca. She wants something to do. Why don’t we get her involved with my career?"
"Doing what?"
Sarah shrugged her shoulders, "I don’t know…assistant manager? I mean,
you’ve got your own career and the business and the foundation."
"You have those things too. What’s your point?"
"It’s just that you’ve got enough on you."
"My wife is more important. Now, what about Becca? What do you want to do to get her involved?"
"At the very least, I’d LOVE to have sing with me, like we did in college."
"Sarah, she hates being in front of a crowd as big as our concerts."
"She’ll be fine."
"Why don’t you ask her when we get back to Calgary?"
"I think I will."
"What would you do?"
"Not sure. I’m gonna let her pick something if I can convince her to do it."
The couple grew silent sitting together, each lost in their thoughts. Howie continued stroking Sarah’s stomach feeling the babies moving at his touch. He was just as homesick as Sarah was but having her with him made it easier. He didn’t want Sarah away from his side either and was glad that she was going to stay with him.
Sarah was watching the others through the glass as she enjoyed Howie’s touch. It was a comfort having their second ‘family’ with them. The bonds were strengthened with each passing day and she was grateful to have each one of them. If it all ended tomorrow, the friendships would still be there without a doubt.
