Part 381

Kevin tossed his cell phone on the dresser, and emptied the pockets of his jeans as well. Spare change, a stick of gum, some fan's telephone number that had been thrust at him by the bus … Damn, what a long and exhausting day. When the fuck were they going to get a break from the drama that was becoming the norm for their lives? Without thinking, he unzipped his jeans and pushed them over his hips where they promptly caught on his boots. Laughing at his own stupidity, he sat on the bed and struggled with his boots, finally dropping them to the floor with a resounding thud. Lying back on the bed, he raised his hips just enough to push his pants off and onto the floor. He continued to lie there, staring at a spot on the ceiling and feeling his eyes begin to droop.

"Shit," he mumbled. "If I don’t get up and finish undressing, I'll still be in this spot in the morning."

Every muscle in his body ached as he struggled to sit up, and he pulled his shirt over his head and tossed it on the floor with his jeans. Not very Kevin-like, but tonight … this morning … whatever, he was too damned tired to care. Clad only in his boxers, he padded wearily to the bathroom, not even bothering to turn on the light. Hell, all the toilets in every hotel in the world were in the same place, weren't they? He chuckled to himself figuring with the way his day had gone, this one would be different and he'd wake up and step in a puddle of piss in the morning.

Nah, he took a chance, leaned on the wall for support and relieved himself with a sigh. With all the good hygiene he'd been taught as a child, he washed his hands, then his face and headed back for bed. Halfway there his cell phone caught his eye and he picked it up. His thumb pressed the memory keys as his other hand turned off the last remaining light in the bedroom. Only a soft glow from outside the sheer drapes leant any sort of luminance to the room.

The sound of the phone by her bed ringing in the middle of the night was becoming a habit in Lynne's house. Barely glancing at the clock on her nightstand, she picked up the receiver.

"Kevin, what do you want?"

Kevin chuckled. "Just to hear your voice."

"I'm impressed, Kevin, two nights in a row?" In spite of herself, Lynne smiled.

"I needed to talk to someone who wasn't having a life crisis, or would fly off the deep end and call me a prick."

Lynne laughed, knowing he'd probably deserved it. "Who had the nerve to call you that?"

He mumbled something and she had to strain to hear him. "Kevin, I could swear you said-"

"Becca. Becca called me a prick, and Brian agreed with her. My own cousin, can you believe it?

"Yes, I can." She giggled, picturing the look on his face. "Poor baby, I'm sorry. Let me try that again. Ahem. Oh no, Kevin, how dare they? The nerve of them!" She pressed her hand over her mouth to hold back the laughter.

"Fine, I know when I'm not wanted. I'll talk to you-"

"Don't you dare hang up on me! It's not just everyone I'll talk to at four in the morning."

"Four? No, babe, it's only two." Kevin tried to read the digital display on his cell phone, but couldn't quite make out the numbers.

"Kevin," Lynne said, "you're in Calgary, right?"

Kevin smiled at the thought that Lynne was following their tour schedule. "Yep."

"Kevin," she said patiently, "there's a two hour time difference between Toronto and Calgary."

"Oh fuck."

Dear lord, just the sound of that word coming from Kevin's mouth was enough to make Lynne shiver. She was speechless, trying to form a coherent thought, when he spoke again.

"Babe, I'm so sorry. I should really think before I call you."

"No, because then I might not ever hear from you at all," Lynne sighed.

"No, that's not true." Kevin stretched out on the bed and groaned as his body refused to

cooperate.

"Kev, what's wrong?"

"Damn, baby, I'm just beat to hell. A lot of shit went down today, and I hurt everywhere.

I wish you were here, Lynne."

"You do?" she whispered. Without thinking, she scooted back beneath the comforter as they talked.

"Yeah, I do. You're so normal."

Lynne laughed. "Not according to Julie."

"No," he laughed. "I mean you're … you know."

"I think so, yes, and thank you. I think."

"I can't wait to see you again, Lynne. Only a week."

"Me too, Kev." Lynne breathed deeply through the awkward pause.

"Well, I should go…"

"I wish I was there now. I mean, I wish there was something I could do to help you."

If you only knew, Kevin thought. "You're a nurse, how are your fingers?"

"Excuse me?"

Kevin chuckled, a low throaty sound that raised every hair on Lynne's body and made her shiver once again. "I need a back rub. My shoulders are so tense and it's gonna be hard ... difficult for me to get to sleep." Nice, Kev, he thought to himself, nice choice of words.

"I'm pretty good at that," she said softly. "I mean, you know, nurses are trained in therapeutic massage."

"That's what I thought. Like I said, I wish you were here."

"Maybe I can help you relax just by talking to you," she suggested.

Holy shit. Kev tried in vain to slow his breathing. It wasn't working. Did she have any clue as to what she was doing to him? "Try it," he agreed, his voice rough with need.

"Well, first you need to take your shirt off. Massage just doesn't work as well of you can't feel the muscles right beneath the skin.

Feel this, Kevin thought, but said, "It’s already off. I’m only wearing my boxers."

Lynne swallowed hard. "Oh. Okay, that's good. Umm … First I'd work on your shoulders, oh my, they're so tight. I press my thumbs deeply into the muscle until it relaxes, and then I slowly smooth away the tension. You're so tight though, this could take a while," she concluded.

Not damn likely, he thought with a wry smirk. "It feels good, baby, it's working already."

"Good, Kev. I work my way down your back, too, because all the tension of the day has settled in your lower back, and I press my fingertips at the base of your spine."

Kevin groaned as if he could feel her hands on his body, and his body reacted in the usual way. There was no way Lynne could know that his lower back was one of the most erogenous spots on his body, and just the thought of her fingers pressing deeply into his flesh had him achingly hard in seconds. "Oh damn," he moaned, his hand straying beneath his boxers to grasp the stiffened flesh and seek relief.

"Feels good, doesn't it?" Lynne smiled, picturing a scene that was not anything like what was actually occurring all those many miles away. "A good back rub is so relaxing."

"Yeah, it is," he managed, not sounding at all relaxed as his hand slowly pumped his erection.

"Stretch out, it'll help you relax." Lynne stretched out too, lying on her side and closing her eyes.

"I am, yeah it helps," Kevin said, somehow keeping his voice even and low. His boxers were long gone now, and as he listened to Lynne's sweet voice, he raised his knees and spread his legs even further, his free hand gently cupping his balls as he stroked himself harder and harder, his release imminent.

"Mmmm, feels good. I can tell this is helping." Lynne sighed, feeling so good about herself right now.

"Yeah, baby, it helps," he paused to breathe, "it helps a – lot." His penis was covered in precum and his fingertips slipped in the heated, silken moisture. All the feeling in his extremities had shifted to his groin and with one last stroke he was almost –

"Kevin?" Lynne whispered. "Are you all right?"

"Oh yeah," he groaned, cumming in hot streams and soaking the bedclothes. The soft whisper of her voice had been all the catalyst he'd needed. God only knew what would happen when she actually spoke to him face to face in seven days' time. The spasms subsided and Kevin breathed deeply one last time and sighed contentedly.

Hundreds of miles away, Lynn smiled in the darkness. "Think you can sleep now?"

"I'm sure I can," he said with a sleepy smile. "Thanks, baby."

"I'll see you soon, Kevin."

"I can't wait, Lynne." He yawned and said, "I'll call you back with the flight details, during the day, all right?"

"Kevin, you know you can call me any time."

"Yeah, baby, I do. I'll talk to you soon."

"G'nite, Kevin. Sleep tight."

"G'nite baby, you too."

Quietly he broke the connection and rolled to the dry side of the bed, already deep in sleep.
