Part 388
As the door closed behind Nick and Becca, Howie swore under his breath.
"What’s wrong, ‘D’?" asked Sarah joining him on the couch.
"I forgot to ask Becca something. ‘Angel’, Dr. Johnson called this morning."
Sarah saw the concern in Howie’s eyes. "What’s wrong?"
"Nothing’s wrong. He’s just a little worried with everything you’ve been through and seeing the fax from Dr. Morgan. He told us both that this was a high-risk pregnancy mainly because of the twins and when he saw your blood pressure was up, he got more concerned."
"So…you told him we’d had an argument, didn’t you?"
"That wasn’t necessary. He wants you to check your blood pressure daily and I was gonna ask Becca if she’d help…or at the very least, borrow her stuff."
"I’ll ask her later but I really don’t think it’s necessary."
"Please, Dr. Johnson wants you to do this," urged Howie. "He also wants you to start getting a check up every two weeks."
Sarah eyed him suspiciously. "Is this HIS suggestion or did you say something to him?"
"Does it really matter?"
"Yes! If you’re trying to smother me, you’re doing a good job," answered Sarah irritably.
"It was his suggestion. He also wants an ultra sound done at the next check up."
"What am I gonna do when we go to Japan?"
"We’ll only be there for a week or so. You can go before and after the trip. ‘Angel’, I love you and I wouldn’t go behind your back like that. Dr. Johnson is truly worried and quite honestly, I’m glad he’s taking these extra precautions. I want these twins here safely but more importantly, I want you safe."
Sarah gave in, "Okay. No problem. I’ll ask Becca for her stuff. I need to finish with Jesse now."
"I’ll go get her," offered Howie.
Before he could get up though, Sarah took his hand. "When are we gonna talk about school for her?"
"Not now. You need to get her lessons done so we can go to the venue. I’ll get our things together while you do that."
Sarah watched as Howie went to get Jesse and a minute later, she came bouncing out of their room. She settled next to Sarah to finish her work without any arguments and Howie headed off to pack for the trip to the next town.
