Part 412
"So, Sarah," Becca asked after they’d pulled away from the venue, "do you have Lynne’s flight information?"
Billy snickered and cut his eyes at Raoul.
"Bec? Bite my-"
"No thanks, sis," Becca grinned. "I’d much rather bite-"
"God, never mind." Sarah laughed, shoving playfully at Becca, who was winking at her best friend.
"Are we there yet?" Becca asked, bouncing in her seat.
"God, Bec, will you chill out? You’re worse than Jesse," Sarah laughed.
"Just practicing, sis. I figure after Jesse flies home you’ll need someone to annoy the hell out of you."
"Your husband already does that, so knock it off."
"Ooh, that hurt," Becca snorted. "But admit it, you luuuv him."
"In your dreams, Bec," Sarah retorted, rolling her eyes.
Becca said nothing, blushing as she thought about traces of some wild dream she’d awakened from a few days earlier. She had no complete memory of it, but she had a sneaking suspicion that it had been Kevin and not her husband that had been the focal point. Damn sexy men, they were going to be the death of her yet.
The driver found the terminal with ease, and Becca, Sarah and both bodyguards piled out of the van to search for the arrival gates.
"Where are Polly and the girls arriving?" Becca asked.
"Umm … C-14. Let me look at Lynne’s … Shit, Bec, she’s at M-9, on the other damn side of the world." Sarah frowned at the scraps of paper in her hand as if they would magically transform into something more do-able.
"Ladies, if I may?" Billy reached for the flight information and handed one piece to Raoul. "Sarah," he said patiently, "you and Raoul can go meet Polly and the others. Becca and I will find Lynne and then meet you back here."
"Oh," Sarah said, the idea not even having occurred to her. "I have my cell phone in case something goes wrong."
"So do I," Billy said. "Take off, we’ll see you back here."
Becca watched Sarah and Raoul as they disappeared down the concourse. "Okay, Billy, which way?"
"I’d say about four miles that way," he grinned, pointing off in the distance.
"Then off we go," Becca grinned back. They fought their way through the sea of people, earning strange looks from those that wondered at the odd-looking couple. At one particularly disapproving stare, Becca simply wrapped her arm through Billy’s, smiled at the prune-faced old woman and walked even closer to the large black man.
"You’re bad, you know that?" he laughed.
"Yup," was all she had to say. Finally they found the right gate, but security was so tight that no one was being permitted past the check-in points. "Well damn," she muttered. "I wanted to be at the gate when she landed."
"No one’s getting by, Bec. Airport security is tighter than ever in the last few weeks."
"I know," she sighed. "I realize it’s for our own good, but-"
"Becca?!" A voice called out over the heads in the crowd.
"Ohmygod! There she is!" Becca all but leapt over the remaining passengers to get to Lynne. After apologizing profusely to the small child she knocked down, she was finally within arm’s reach of her friend.
Lynne reached out as Becca nearly bowled her over, and they hugged like they’d been apart for years instead of merely a couple of weeks. "Bec! You look great! How are you?"
"I’m great! It’s so good to see you again. How’s Julie?"
"She’s fine. Jealous as hell that she’s not here with me," Lynne smirked. "So where’s that man of yours?"
"Nick? There’s no way he could be seen in a place like this, it would cause a small riot."
"Nick who? I meant Garrett!" Lynne laughed as Becca rolled her eyes, and as Becca would have replied, Billy stepped in.
"This is all tons of fun, ladies, but we have a show to get back to. Do you have more luggage Lynne?"
"Nope, just these two carry-on bags."
Billy grabbed her bags and set off back the way they had come. He plowed his way through the crowd as Becca and Lynne giggled and tried to catch up on all that had happened since they’d last talked.
