Part 423
As the door slammed shut, Kevin bellowed, "Sarah!"
Peeking around the corner, Sarah said, "’Boo’, it’s one room and a bathroom. You don’t have to yell."
"What the hell did you think you were doing?" growled Kevin.
"I swear, Kevin. I had NO idea you were about to kiss Lynne goodnight," answered Sarah innocently and batting her eyes sweetly. "I’m sorry."
Kevin was trying hard to be angry at her but he was failing miserably. She ALWAYS knew how to get to him. "Cut the innocent crap with me and no, you aren’t sorry. You enjoyed every damn minute of it," sighed Kevin as he plopped down on the bed beside her. He leaned against the headboard with her and took her hand in his, lacing his fingers with hers. "Where’s ‘D’?"
"Geez, Kevin. Can’t you hear the shower?"
"You know, you’re being a real smartass tonight," smirked Kevin. "Why aren’t you asleep…or at least trying to sleep?"
"Well, let’s see. One of my roomies was busy outside trying to put the moves on his new girlfriend and then came in here bellowing at me and the other one is taking a shower."
"Smartass."
"But you love me!" shot Sarah. "Seriously, don’t worry about me. I took a nap while you guys were onstage and ‘D’s’ gonna want to unwind. It gives us a chance to talk too."
"About what, baby?"
"That. Look, I was really hurt when you called Lynne ‘baby’ and it wasn’t fair to you. I apologize. I guess my hormones were in overdrive."
"Ya think?" teased Kevin.
Sarah looked at him to see his eyes gleaming with mischief. "You’re mean," she said slapping him playfully with her free hand.
"Not really," laughed Kevin. Then he took on a more serious tone. "Baby, I never meant to hurt you. I didn’t realize I had until Howie called me an insensitive jackass."
"Howie?"
"Yeah, twice. Sarah, I would never intentionally hurt you. You mean the world to me and when Howie told me what I’d done to you AFTER your set, I felt like a heel. It should be me apologizing."
"I just overreacted. Kevin, I know we talked in LA but the realization that you were REALLY interested in another woman didn’t hit home until tonight. They say if you love something, set it free…I have to set you free, Kevin, free to love Lynne with all your heart. Maybe in another time or another place, we could have been good together but it’s selfish of me to hold on to your heart. You are such a good man with so much love to give. Be happy with Lynne."
Kevin reached up, their hands still together, and brushed her tears away. "Baby, I’ll always love you but we’d never have been together in any time or place. You and Howie were meant to be together. I’ve never seen two people more in tune or in love than you two," answered Kevin, his voice soft with tenderness. "I won’t call Lynne baby around you."
"No, Kevin. That’s TOO much to expect. Besides, it’ll just cause problems and Lynne is already asking questions about us."
"Really?"
"Don’t worry. She asked Becca and Bec told her we were just really good friends, like we agreed."
"Cool. Baby, remember this, you will ALWAYS be a part of me, a very special part that I’ll always cherish. What we have is so beautiful and I want you to know that my birthday last year was NOT a complete fiasco. Making love to you that night was so right and so perfect, the best gift you could have given me."
"Promise me you’ll remember the same thing?"
"I promise," whispered Kevin as he cupped her face in his large hand. Leaning in to her, their lips met in a sweet kiss. It was a goodbye kiss of sorts, full of sadness and heartache, and a promise…a promise to always be friends. Their relationship had changed and at the same time, strengthened.
Kevin deepened the kiss wanting to hold on to what they once shared. Her taste and her scent brought back all the memories of the times they’d held each other, made love to each other. His tears spilled over without warning and he felt helpless.
Sarah wrapped her fingers in his hair, holding on physically while in her heart, she was letting go. Her own tears fell mixing with Kevin’s and as they broke apart, Kevin wiped them away.
With their foreheads touching, Kevin whispered, "You’re my best friend, baby, and I love you."
"I love you too, ‘Boo’."
Howie stopped in the doorway of the bathroom watching and listening. Now, as the two pulled apart, he spoke up. "If you’re finished making out with my wife, Kev, you can get a shower."
They both looked up and Sarah said, "About time you got out of the shower."
"You know, you COULD have joined me. It’s nice and spacious in there, big enough for three people."
Laughing sarcastically, Sarah said, "Ha Ha…you’re so funny….NOT. I AM NOT fat."
Kevin smirked, "And grass isn’t green either."
"Okay, FINE! I see how you two are going to be. Howie…you can sleep with Kevin!" pouted Sarah. Mumbling, "And I thought you two loved me."
"You’d enjoy that too much," shot Kevin.
"Oh good gawd!" groaned Sarah rolling her eyes.
Both men laughed and Kevin gave her a kiss before trading places with Howie who wrapped his arms around his wife. Sarah eagerly snuggled into his embrace taking in the smell of his after-shave.
With Kevin getting a shower, Howie kissed Sarah as he caressed her stomach feeling the twins move. "I take it from the kiss that things are okay with Kevin."
"Yeah, everything’s fine," smiled Sarah as she laced her fingers of her left hand with his so that their wedding bands were side by side. "You know something?"
"What, ‘Angel’?" he asked pressing his lips to her ear.
"I have the most amazing husband."
"And I have a pretty incredible wife. What’s up?"
"Besides you?" teased Sarah pressing her butt against his hardening cock. "Any man would have gone ballistic seeing Kevin kissing me."
"True, but I’m not just any other man. I’m the one who knows your soul," whispered Howie as he ran a hand between her thighs and the other through her hair. He leaned in and kissed her.
‘God, two kisses in less than 10 minutes,’ thought Sarah. ‘And both of them so completely different. The way they touch me is even different but both come from a love so deep that nothing could touch it.’
Now, as Howie kissed her, Sarah felt like she was on fire. Howie was right. He did know her soul and he possessed it. That’s what made the kisses different.
