Part 436

As Howie and Sarah started to get on the bus, Sarah looked over Howie’s shoulder and said, "Howie, I can’t just leave her like this. She left him because of me."

"Sarah, you’ve done all you can. You gave her the courage to leave. She’s young, she’ll make it."

Sarah looked at him, "Howie, I had a second chance because of my family and you and I didn’t have Jesse to worry about. Tiffany’s family is in Dallas and they have no idea about their granddaughter."

Howie saw the look in Sarah’s eyes and heard Kevin beginning to grumble again. Looking towards where they had left Tiffany and Megan, he saw the young woman kneeling down holding her daughter as they both cried. "Go grab one of Jesse’s stuffed animals and tell Kevin to take a chill."

"What are you going to do?"

"Give her a second chance," smiled Howie.

Sarah gave him a kiss, "Thank you."

As Sarah rushed to get one of Jesse’s stuffed animal, Howie went over to Tiffany and Megan. "Sarah and I want to help you," he said pulling out his wallet. Taking all the cash he had, he handed it to her. "This should be enough to get you back to your parents. I’m sure if you tell them you’re sorry, things will work out."

"I can’t accept this." Tiffany tried to refuse.

Sarah was there now and said, "Please, I got a second chance. Let me make sure you get one too."

Tiffany looked down at Megan as the little girl cried.

Howie said softly, "If not yourself, then take it for Megan. She deserves to have her mother happy and safe."

Tiffany began to cry, "Thank you both so much."

Sarah knelt down and handed Megan one of Jesse’s stuffed tigers. "Jesse’s daddy bought this for her in Chicago and it’s one of her favorites. I KNOW she would want you to have it."

Megan looked up at her mother who nodded and she took the tiger. "Thank you."

Sarah stood up and pressed a piece of paper into Tiffany’s hand. "When you get to Dallas and get settled, call me. These are our cell numbers so you can get us no matter where you are. Please use it."

"Thank you," whispered Tiffany.

"Good luck, Tiffany," said Howie. "Come on, ‘Angel’. We need to go."

The two climbed back onto the bus as Tiffany and Megan waved to them. The doors closed behind them and began to roll out leaving the mother and daughter watching.

Inside, Sarah hugged Howie, "Thank you, ‘D’."

"You were right, ‘Angel’. You made a difference in someone’s life."
