Part 468

As the two couples got out of the car, it was still snowing and Sarah couldn’t contain herself. She danced merrily around once more catching snowflakes on her tongue. Howie just laughed letting her enjoy the moment as they made their way to the restaurant.

Nick laughed, "You have my deepest sympathies, D."

"Why do you say that?" asked Howie.

"You don’t have one child with two on the way…you have two with two on the way."

"I don’t know about that, Nicky. I kinda like it when she’s like this," grinned Howie as he watched Sarah scoop up some snow. "Beats the hell out of the mood swings."

Nick had his back to Sarah and was completely unaware of what she was doing until he felt the wet cold down his back. "GEEZ!" hollered Nick dancing around to get away from the cold.

"What’s wrong, Nicky?" questioned Sarah innocently as she put her arms around Howie’s waist from behind.

"For Christ’s sake, Sarah! You’re WORSE than Jesse," smirked Nick as he tried to get the snow out of his shirt. He wasn’t mad at her. Actually, he was rather glad to see her so happy. Maybe she would be able to pull Becca out of this gloomy mood she was in.

Becca wanted to join the fun. She loved snow as much as Sarah but she couldn’t. All she could do was watch and smile half-heartedly as her best friend gave back to her husband what she knew he gave her. She did reach to help Nick get the snow out.

Sarah giggled watching Nick as Howie pulled her around beside him.

"Come on, ‘Angel’. I’m hungry," laughed Howie as they headed inside.

As they stood in line waiting to be seated, several young girls recognized the boys and started pointing at them and whispering.

Spotting the fans, Sarah whispered as she kissed Howie on the neck, "Fan alert."

"I see them. Nicky…"

"Got it," said Nick as he eased over to the hostess. Taking a twenty out of his pocket, he said softly to the young lady, "Could you get us a table for four somewhere out of the way?"

The lady looked up into his blue eyes and her jaw dropped. Becca rolled her eyes knowing they had been ‘busted’ despite the guys wearing baseball caps and dark glasses.

"Uh…yeah…just a minute, Mr. Carter," stammered the hostess as several girls approached the group.

Sarah said, "You’d better make it a quick minute if you don’t want things to get out of hand."

Fortunately, the manager had already become aware of the situation and appeared. "Right this way," he said motioning for the four to follow.

"Howie, you two probably should sign a few autographs just to keep the peace. Becca and I will go ahead with Garrett to the table."

Howie gave her a kiss, "Thank you, ‘Angel’."

As the guys signed some autographs, Sarah and Becca got comfortable at their table. Becca had set Garrett on a chair between them and as she looked over the menu, Sarah started to play with him.

"Hey, buddy! What ‘cha doin’ in there? What do you think of all this snow? Oh, I know it’s nothing major and will be gone shortly after it stops but for now, it’s so beautiful. And your Uncle Howie knows just how much I love it too. It wouldn’t surprise me if he put in a special order for snow just for me."

Garrett began to kick and gurgle happily so Sarah picked him up.

"There! Is that better?"

"Aren’t you gonna look at the menu?" asked Becca somewhat irritably.

Sarah totally ignored Becca’s mood and as she continued to look at Garrett, she said, "Nope! Already know what I want. Howie told me what they specialize in."

Becca looked at her best friend playing with Garrett. She was in such high spirits that Becca knew she had to keep her feelings to herself. She didn’t want to bring Sarah or Howie down.

Nick was the first to join the girls and promptly stole Garrett from Sarah.

"Hey! I was playing with him," protested Sarah as if Garrett were a toy.

"Howie wants you," laughed Nick as Sarah pouted.

"For what?"

"What? You’re QUESTIONING him?" teased Nick.

"No. I just wanted to know for what."

"Didn’t think to ask. Why don’t you go see?" countered Nick.

"Fine. Back in a minute. Nick, if the waitress comes, I want…."

"We’ll tell her to come back," offered Becca wanting Sarah to just leave for a few minutes.

"Thanks."
