Part 502
When the small group reached the pub, things were relatively quiet which suited them just fine. They paid the cover charge, found an out-of-the-way table, and ordered their first round of drinks. Entertainment for them was to watch as patrons began to recognize them and tried NOT to be obvious when pointing them out to a friend.
Within an hour, the place was packed and the boys were being approached by a variety of girls. These girls didn’t seem to mind cutting in when Sarah was dancing with one of the guys either. Several times, they actually pushed her out of the way but Sarah simply backed away and returned to the table to wait for her stolen dance partner.
The decision to head to the next club had been made but before they could leave, the manager came to the table carrying a complimentary round of drinks.
"A ‘Thank You’ for making this my most successful Tuesday night in quite some time."
"You’re welcome," chorused the guys.
"I don’t suppose I could convince you to sing a couple songs, could I?"
"We were just getting ready to leave," said Kevin. "Maybe another time."
Howie nudged Kevin. "You know, this would be perfect for Sarah. Show her off and push the new single."
"Yeah, Kev. Howie’s right," agreed Nick.
"He asked US to sing, not Sarah."
Howie turned to the manager, "We’ll do one song if my wife can do a short set, say 5 songs."
The manager quickly agreed, "No problem. You can just let the house band…"
"No, give us about 30 minutes to get our band here," said Kevin as Howie pulled out his cell phone.
Sarah leaned to Howie, "Tell ‘Mook’ to bring your guitar."
"It’s on the bus, ‘Angel’."
"I know but if I’m gonna sing, I need it."
Howie agreed to tell ‘Mook’ and made the call while Sarah leaned back.
Nick had heard Sarah and asked, "You gonna do it tonight?"
"It’s perfect. Becca’s not here to hear it."
AJ asked, "Hear what?"
"I put lyrics to the melody you and I were playing with. I want to do it for Howie tonight."
"Cool."
"He’s gonna love it, sis."
While they waited for their band, the guys discussed what they were going to perform. Sarah’s set was going to be short, five songs with the first one being her single, ‘Underneath Your Clothes’.
