Part 541
Nick and Becca hadn’t been gone long when Sarah turned to Howie, "Let’s go, ‘D’."
Howie had had a little more to drink than usual that night and he was trying to pull Sarah back into the dancing. "Come on, ‘Angel’…just a little longer," he coaxed as he ground his hips into her.
"’D’," protested Sarah. "I wanna get back to Garrett."
Turning her with the music, Howie said, "The nanny’s got him, ‘Angel’. Dance with me. Show me those sexy moves."
"’D’, you KNOW my feelings about nannies," protested Sarah trying not to cave in to Howie and his puppy dog eyes. "I didn’t WANT to leave him with a nanny in the FIRST place but it was Nick’s idea. I just made sure he got the best."
Even intoxicated, Howie knew when Sarah didn’t want to ‘discuss’ a topic any further so he stopped dancing. Kissing her lightly, he said, "Okay, ‘Angel’, we’ll go."
Sarah smiled and put her hand on his cheek. "Thank you, ‘D’. I’m gonna go gather Becca’s presents if you’ll take care of the bill."
"That boy ALWAYS sticks me with the bill," groaned Howie.
"He didn’t ‘stick’ you with the bill," retorted Sarah. Handing him a credit card, she said, "Here, smartass. This is NICK’S credit card."
"Love you too," smirked Howie with a wink.
"You are so full of it, Dorough," laughed Sarah.
"Not as full of it as you are," teased Howie as he put his hands on her stomach.
"JUST GO!" Sarah pushed him towards the front and shook her head watching as he danced his way through their friends who were still celebrating despite Becca and Nick’s departure.
AJ slipped up behind Sarah and put his arms around her. "He’s gonna be hurtin’ in the morning. Need any help with him?"
"Nah, he’s not that bad off. I’ll make sure he takes something before he goes to bed. Help me get Becca’s presents together."
"You two leaving?"
"Yeah, I don’t like the idea of Garrett being with a nanny."
"Mind if I tag along?"
"Nah, I don’t mind."
Together, AJ and Sarah started gathering Becca’s presents with Kevin and Brian pitching in too. All four of them met Howie at the front where Howie had gotten the car to pull around and they headed back to the hotel.
Reaching their floor, Sarah was a little surprised that Billy wasn’t at the door but as Howie opened it, they all spotted him rocking Garrett in the rocking chair.
The four men started to laugh seeing their ‘tough’ head of security with Garrett but Sarah quickly silenced them.
"Billy, where’s the nanny?" asked Sarah softly so as not to wake Garrett.
Billy looked up, his temper obviously still simmering. "I fired her sorry ass," he growled softly.
"What happened?" asked Kevin, concern lacing his voice.
"She fell asleep, THAT’S what happened. I don’t know why the hell Nick bothered hiring someone in the FIRST place. I am perfectly capable of taking care of Garrett myself," seethed the large man.
"Nothing happened, did it?" questioned Brian.
"No, nothing happened but what if something had happened?"
Sarah smirked as she took the baby from Billy. "You’re right, Billy. We should have just left him with you in the first place. I’ve got him now so you can go."
Billy gave her a smile that conveyed the trust he had in her. "He had a bottle about an hour ago and I changed his diaper before I started rocking him. He should be good to go for a few hours at least."
"Thanks, Billy," answered Sarah as she headed to the bedroom where the bassinet was set up.
As Sarah closed the door, Billy looked at the four men standing there watching him. All four had smirks on their faces and he growled, "What the hell are you four grinning about?"
Like a bad comedy, AJ shot, "Who’s grinning? ‘Rok’, you grinning?"
"Nuh uh, not me. Kev, you grinning?"
"No way! I wouldn’t DARE grin. ‘D’, you grinning?"
"Not me! I’m not stupid."
Billy snarled, "Funny! Very funny! How any ONE of you has a girlfriend is beyond me? You’d better learn how to take care of little ones, Dorough, or your WIFE is gonna have your ass!"
With that, Billy sulked away insulted that the four men would find anything amusing in his simply doing his job. He was careful not to slam the door though as he left.
Sarah returned to find all four men in tears and holding their stomachs from laughing so hard.
"What is your problem?"
Wiping the tears from his cheeks, Kevin said, "Billy! That was priceless."
"You four should be ashamed of yourselves. Billy was doing his job," scolded Sarah. "You MIGHT want to take lessons from him!"
Howie wrapped his wife in his arms and still laughing, said, "But ‘Angel’…it’s just funny to see Billy with Garrett especially after we’ve all seen him snarling at over-eager fans and scaring them half to death!"
Sarah maintained her stern look.
"Ah, come on, ‘Tigger’. You KNOW you thought it was funny too!" AJ wagged his eyebrows at her.
That did it. Sarah broke out laughing too. "It was kinda funny to see Billy holding Garrett. You guys are so bad though! Get out of here so Howie and I can go to bed."
Brian, AJ, and Kevin gave Sarah a kiss on the cheek and left the couple to get some sleep.
