Part 567
The petite blonde stood in the line waiting patiently, holding her purse close to her. In it was her reason for standing in line hoping Sarah had forgotten their first encounter. She didn’t even want to begin to hope that Sarah would be able to convince Howie to come out to the booth with her.
She overheard all the conversations around her as she waited alone. They were all talking about how cool it would be to just hang out with the Backstreet Boys and she had to smile to herself as she remembered her day with them in Denver. Once the business had been dealt with, she had been privileged to stay and watch them behind the scenes, playing and having fun.
The girls in front of her were babbling on and on about how Howie and AJ had introduced Sarah, Sarah’s set, and Becca as the line inched forward.
"Wouldn’t it be so cool if Howie came out with Sarah?" bubbled one teen.
Kryss spoke up, "Don’t get your hopes up. I doubt very seriously that their security would allow him to come out here…especially this close to the show."
"Have you ever met them?" asked the second one.
Kryss smiled as the first one offered, "I saw them on their way to lunch this morning but their security was really tight. Hi, I’m Dana and this is my friend Rachel."
"Hi, I’m Kryss."
"So, have you ever met them, Kryss?" asked Rachel.
"Once. My former boss is Howie’s attorney and I was with him to handle some legal affairs when they were in Denver."
"What are they like?" asked Dana.
Kryss smiled as she thought about that day. "Protective…funny…pretty much what you’d imagine older brothers are like."
"Who’s your favorite?"
Kryss blushed, "Howie."
From the front of the line, screams and shrieks could be heard and the three looked to see Howie dressed in the outfit for the first set, his arms around Sarah’s waist, as they laughed and talked to fans.
"OH MY GOD!" gasped the teens. "They are so amazing together."
"They are, aren’t they?" sighed Kryss as she watched the couple she admired the most.
The line moved slowly, too slowly for Kryss. When she was just two people away from the table, Sarah announced that she and Howie had to leave since it was almost time for the boys to go onstage. Kryss watched as Howie gave his sister a kiss, then took Sarah’s hand as they followed security back to the backstage area for the show.
"Damn!" she mumbled not realizing anyone heard her.
"Excuse me?" questioned Pollyanna.
"Oh," said Kryss startled. "I’m sorry. I was just hoping to be able to make this donation to Howie and Sarah personally. It’s for Sarah’s foundation and for the DLF."
"I’ll be sure they get it," promised Pollyanna taking the check Kryss was holding.
"Thank you," said Kryss, her voice full of disappointment.
Leaving the booth, Kryss headed back to her seat for the show. Maybe she’d be lucky enough to get the teddy bear she had for Howie to him during the show.
