Chapter 83

The phone ringing woke Howie and he reached for it.  His voice hoarse and still heavy with sleep, he answered, “Hello.”

“This is the front desk, Mr. Dorough.  Your wife called and said that she will be in LA by noon.”

“Thank you.”

Hanging up, he looked at his watch…11:30.  Sarah would be there soon.  God, he was looking forward to having her there.  Then it dawned on him…he wasn’t dressed and he wondered how he had managed to get his clothes off.  Sarah had helped him to bed….no, she couldn’t have.  Okay, so who was that woman who’d helped him to bed?  A noise out in the living area interrupted him and he got up to go find out what was going on.

Emerging from the bedroom, Howie was greeted by his uninvited guests.  “How did you get in here?”

“Why, Howie!!  Is that any way to say good morning to your lovers?” chided Candy as she poured herself a glass of orange juice.

“Like hell we’re lovers!  I’ll ask again…HOW did you get in here?”

“We bumped into each other in the lobby and you invited us….”

“Us?”

“Rho and me…you invited us up to satisfy your every need and desire.  You said you needed real women because your precious angel just wasn’t doing it for you.”

With the mention of Rho’s name, Howie realized there was someone else in the room.  “You KNOW I’d never cheat on Sarah or say something like that about her.  And even if I did cheat on her….there is NO WAY it would be with either one of you.  What do you want?”

“You’re quick,” answered Candy.  Then, putting on her business ‘face’, she said, “Leave Sarah and tell the world that Rho is the only woman for you.”

“You’ve really lost your mind,” laughed Howie.  “I’m NOT leaving Sarah, not now, not ever.  She’s the mother of my children and my heart.”

“Fine!  If you won’t leave her, I’ll make sure she and the whole world knows what a wild time the three of us had last night.”

“Sarah would never believe it.”

“What’s the saying…a picture is worth a thousand words?  I’d say I have about twenty-four thousand words here,” said Candy holding up an envelope.

“What’s that?” asked Howie warily.

“My proof of last night,” and she taunted him by waving the envelope at him.

Pictures?  No, she was bluffing.  There was no way he had had sex with the two of them…not the way he’d felt last night and not the way he felt now.

“What’s wrong, ‘Sweet D’?”

“You’re bluffing.”

“Do you really want to take that chance and hurt the sweet pop princess?”

“You’re asking me to hurt her by leaving her.”

“But it won’t sting quite as bad as seeing two other women satisfying your desires.”

“Name your price, Candy.  I’ll pay you whatever you want.”

“I’ve named my terms,” stated Candy flatly.  “Leave Sarah and let the world know that your true love is Rho or I send these to Sarah and the tabloids.”

“Get the hell out,” demanded Howie.

“Not ‘till I get an answer.”

“I’m not leaving Sarah.”

“Then, by tomorrow, the world will know what a player you really are.”

Howie was desperate.  He couldn’t remember what had happened last night but he knew there was no way he could have had sex with them.  He also knew Candy was trouble.  Did she really have pictures?  What about Sarah?  Damnit, she was going to be here soon.  How was she going to take this?

“I’m going to get a shower and I want you GONE when I come back out.”

Howie left the two women alone.

“He’s not going for it,” said Rho getting up.

“Then we send the pictures to Sarah and the tabloids, like I told him we were going to do.”

“They’re not going to believe them.  You can TELL he’s not participating.”

“Not if you keep your mouth shut,” hissed Candy getting in Rho’s face.  At the same time, the phone rang.  “Hmm, wonder who THAT could be?” and she answered the phone.  “Hello.”

There was a pause on the other end before, “Who is this?”

Recognizing the voice immediately, Candy smiled at Rho as she asked politely, “Who were you looking for?”

“I’m trying to get through to Howie Dorough’s room.”

“This is Mrs. Dorough….his wife,” simpered Candy.

“Like HELL it is!! Where is Howie?”

“Sweetie, I don’t know who you are, but Howie can’t come to the phone right now.  He’s still asleep.  We just spent the entire night making love and well, he’s just plum worn out.”

“I don’t know who you are or how you got into my husband’s room but you’d best get the hell out before I get there,” growled Sarah and she hung up.

Laughing hysterically, Candy said, “Oh, Howie’s going to have his hands FULL when she gets here.”

“Was that Sarah?”

“Oh yeah, and she’s HOT!  I think we need to find a place to hide and watch the fireworks.”

“You’re kidding?!” asked Rho in bewilderment as she watched Candy put the envelope with pictures on the table in sight of the door.

“No, I’m not,” answered Candy as she scribbled Sarah’s name on the envelope.  Spotting the balcony, she said, “Come on.  We can hide out there and watch.”
