2.04 Descendants of Isaac Macon David and
Sarah Ann Burkett David

Isaac Macon David (1834-1882) was the third child of Elizabeth Margaret David (Jones) and Charles H. Jones. Isaac Macon David was the husband of Sarah Ann Burkett (David) had five children. They were:
  • Mary David (August 31, 1866-August 24, 1943). She married James Britton Baker and is buried at the Sumter City Cemetery. They had two children, Lucille Baker (McKiever) and Florence Baker (September 16, 1894-December 4, 1979). Florence married Wilber Abel Walling and is buried at the Sumter City Cemetery. Wilber was the “Mr. Walling” that owned several corner grocery stores in Sumter. Annie Jones Hogan, who was a granddaughter of Lizzie David Jones ran one of these stores in the 1930s and 1940s.
  • Ellen David (April 15, 1870-December 23, 1920). She married Wesley Parker Baker and is buried at the Sumter City Cemetery. They had four children: David Baker, Sarah Jane Baker, Ollie Baker (1896-1898) and James Everett Baker (b. 1905).
  • Ruth David (March 3, 1873-October 15, 1940). She married John Alpheas Baker and is buried at the Sumter City Cemetery. The three Bakers married to Mary, Ellen and Ruth were brothers. Ruth had two children. One died as an infant. The other was Elizabeth Baker (Conyers) .
  • Emma “Pert” David (September 30, 1876-May 16, 1945). She married Thomas Leslie Strange. They had one child, Willie Strange, who married Hazel Heckle. Willie and Hazel had one child, Billy Strange. Pert is buried in the Sumter City Cemetery.
  • Anna David (July 6, 1879-February 21, 1949). She married Willie Herbert Strange. He was the twin brother of Leslie Strange, who married Anna’s sister Pert. Anna had no children and is buried in the Sumter City Cemetery.
