Today we are going to read 2 Corinthians 9:6, 10 – 11

Ever so often, I’ll hear people make remarks that, “money is the root of all evil.” Some Christians have a problem with wealth, believing that having money labels you as a sinner. People who read I Timothy 6:10 reword it, when it actually reads, “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil…”

|
The reason I bring this up is because we shouldn’t be afraid of money because it can be a tool to bless others.

I want to emphasize on a portion of the verse we read here. Verse 11 reads, “You will be made rich in every way…” If God’s word states that He will bless us by making us rich in every way, which includes financially, how can having money be an evil thing?

Well, unfortunately money can be turned to an evil thing. Luke 16:13 warns us that we cannot serve God & money. So how can we tell when money has become our master?

2 Corinthians 11 continues by saying, “You will be made rich in every way, so that you can be a generous giver on every occasion.” Are you a generous giver? Once we come to the point where we’re so consumed with money we don’t want to share it, that is when we love our money more than God. This love of money then becomes the root, or the starting point of evil.

Bless this church & God with your offering today and remember that your generosity results in thanksgiving to God.

Lord, thank you today for this wonderful day. Thank you that we’re here in your house at the start of this workweek. Your word tells us that you bless us to be a blessing. Train our minds to find areas where we can be a blessing in other people’s lives as well as in this church. Let us not focus on giving so that we can receive a financial blessing, but on giving because you told us to give. Bless everyone here who give or didn’t give an offering. Thank you for all that you do.
