Friends of Goku

Master Roshi

(A.K.A Kame Sennin, Turtle Hermit, Mutait Roshi, Tortue Géniale)

A martial arts expert and perverted old man.

History of the Person: Master Roshi was born in the 430. After being trained by Master Mutaito, he starts his own school, suited to his own style.

Characteristics: Master Roshi is a pretty cool old guy, one of the oldest characters in the series. In the time where Goku becomes his disciple, he is one of the strongest and most respected fighters in the world, and he is known by Muntenroshi or Kamesennin. Outside of his legendary martial arts skills, he is the pervert who is very obsessed with the ladies. Bulma, in particular, is the object of his fantasies. To get a shot at becoming students, Goku and Krillin have a task to complete, whichi is to find him a beautiful woman, or even some dirty magazines. They accomplish this, and that's where we meet Lunch, the innoncent girl who is often Master Roshi's flirting device, who doesn't even realize his pervertedness. Outside of his horny ways, he is a grand expert, and he is very talented and even dedicated, he also risks his life to save the world from the Demon Piccolo, but unfortunetley, fails.

Techniques: The techniques he uses are the Mafuba, the kamehameha, the namamidabutsu and the zanzoken.

His Main Fights: His main combats are those against Goku, and the Demon Piccolo, and to whom he loses his life. He also tries to fight off some of the ellite members of the Red Ribbon Army when they invade the Kame House.

World Fighting Championship Tournament: He participates in the 21st Championships under the name of Jackie Choun, and he wins the 50,000$ prize. He then again participates in the 22nd tournament, and there, he forfeits the match against Tenshinhan.

Anime: In one of the movies, he is considered the strongest man alive (quite an honour, don't you agree?), yet he really isn't. Maybe it's because of his age that his power level decreases, but he is no where near the power of Goku and his friends. In one of the films, the silly old man is having a siesta when the Earth is near destruction.

Master Roshi's Turtle

His turtle lived with Master Roshi for several years at Master Roshi's house.

History of the Person:His age is over a thousand years old. He went to pick mushrooms, but he got lost on his way home, he was looking for his way back for over one year, and thanks to Goku he found his way home. Which is why Goku got his Flying Nimbus as a gift from Master Roshi for saving his turtle. Oringinally he wanted to give him immortal life, imagine how boring the story would hav been if Goku would have been immortal.

First Appeared:Volume #1.

Characteristics:In the beginning, he was just a simple turtle, but after many years he learned how to talk. His character is the complete opposite of Master Roshi's. He is smart, serious, aware of everything, and NOT PERVERTED (unlike Trunten). When the Red Ribbon Army arrive he forces the transformation of Lunch into her very mean state, by making her sneeze. This was the only time he was really involved in a battle, and what a lame battle it was. Once in a while he is used as a mode of transportation for people, but most of the time he keeps Master Roshi's bad attitude in check and cheers on the Z-Fighters.

Anime:Just after the battle with Garlic Junior for the second time, he celebrates he 1000th birthday, with all 1000 candles on the cake.

Lunch

(A.K.A Ranchi)

She is the maid and friend and object of affection to Master Roshi. Her name prounounced in japanese is "Ranchi" (...hint hint...)

First Appeared In: Volume #3.

History of the Person: Lunch first appears when Goku and Krillin pick her up in order to find Master Roshi a pretty girl, which is her. She then lives with them, and helps clean, make supper, etc. Lunch's also known very well for her own "super saiyan style" ability. Whenever she sneezes, her hair turns blonde, and her eyes turn green, and she becomes evil. She is never seen after book 17, because she disappears to look for Tenshinhan, and no one ever hears from her again.

Characteristics: As stated above, whenever Lunch sneezes, her opposite personality emerges. All of her kind qualities disappear, and she is pure evil. Only her bad side (called Kushami) shows affection for someone, which is Tenshinhan.

Anime: In the anime, Lunch appears in a movie called "The Sleeping Princess", where in the story there is a jewel, where when Kushami, she breaks the precious jewel.

A shapeshifting, perverted little pig.

History of the Person: Born in the year 740, he weighs 32 kg and is 121cm in height. He learned how to shapeshift in school, and he learns to be a real "pig" when he steals the teacher's underwear. He enjoys terrorizing the town, on a scavenger hunt for cute girls that will like him. But, then, Goku and Bulma come in the story and say the will rid the town of the evil Oolong, in return for the Dragonball and old lady possesses. Oolong saves the day at one point, because if it wasn't for him and is wish for panties, then Pilaf would rule the world. But that's probably the only time he actually acts courageous in the entire story.

First Appeared In: Volume #1.

Characteristics: He possesses the ability to shapeshift into any form, but for a period of five minutes only, then he takes a one minute rest to recharge, and then he shapeshifts again. Just like Master Roshi, Oolong likes the female race a lot. In his terrifying forms, he torments parents into letting him take their little girls, and he then treats them like royalty. Later in the story, he doesn't have a big part, and he is just there to provide humour.

Techniques: He doesn't have a high power level, but he can change into many various shapes and creatures.

His Main Battles: Really, his only battle is the beginning of one against Goku. But, he loses.

World Championship Fighting Tournament: Although he never actually participates, he is always there encouraging his friends along as they battle.

Puar loves Yamcha which, I think is quite weird, but he always tries to help him anyway he can. Puar even helps Yamcha when he is hurt in the 22nd Tournament, whenTenshinhan breaks his leg. Puar transforms into a flying carpet to bring him to the hospital.
