Now I don’t consider myself a film buff, infact, I don’t know Jack about movies, actors and so forth, I’m really oblivous to almost everything, a guy hits on me and it takes my friend to point it out, so I’m not the best person to pay attention to detail or pay anything to anything at all unless it concerns me.
I didn’t acknowledge a movie and I couldn’t sit through a movie, it took a lot of time for me to do that... I’m still like that... I so much wanted to get my ass up and walk out of blair witch project, though the reason for it was I wanted to see Jimmy in General’s Daughter (which me and a friend were going to see stright after) again... unless it’s a movie I’ve partly seen before I usually want watch the full thing, my attention span is small and my interests forever changing, so I decided to do this, dedicate a small section of research I’ve gathered about Jimmy Woods and to put it on a page, it has nothing to do with fan art, but more to do with that I love reading up on famous people and well, when I wanted to get a book from the library on Jimmy and read about him, the library stocked almost ever other actor but him... so this is for you peoples out there who just can’t be bothered going through the same thing.
But first I must let you know as I am a Jimmy fan and whether I’ve seen the movie before or not, if he’s in it, then I’m going to see and I’m going to pay absoulte attention to the sections he’s in then switch off for the rest... actually I totally switched off for the blair witch projet and don’t tell anyone but I think I grabbed a quick nap in that too... ;)
I’ve not been a fan of any film unless they have interesting bad guys, or hard core action films with no plot but lots of dying, I very rarely went out on a limb to see a movie, my interest invoked after about two years of witchcraft and study of Gods I was drawn to the Greek pantheon, and then suddenly I remembered while I was on my film course I was watching entertainment tonight, everyone watched it, and I saw it... and Disney version of Hercules advertised by Meg’s little “I won’t say” song and I thought, oooh how cute, but they’ll fuck it up like every other story they take off another legend and was I right? Bada Boom ya bet cha!!! But still I got it out of the video store a year or so later after reminding my self I wanted to see how badly they messed up the story of Hercules...
So there I sat in my lounge watching it my younger brother in his mid teens came and sat and watched it with me, and I found as incorrect as it was I found it highly entertaining, and after Hades’ little intro I was hooked! and I was like “Who is that guy? I hafta watch the credits to find out.” So after much explaining of the ten tasks of HERAcules to my brother and the little inside jokes (explaining the IX I I [911])and so forth, and explaining of certian myths and so have it.... we both enjoyed the film...
I took the movie to my friends place to watch that week and told her not to expect anything true to the point so we watched it again and she had heard of James Woods, and I was like “James? James Who?” She basically tells me to listen to Hades and say that I haven’t heard that voice before... I had but as if I could remember especially when my dad sent me to bed while watching one of his films [The Hard Way], so she said she’d have a look around and get an actual movie out for me to watch with him in it... luck have it they were playing reruns of simpsons and I was watching it when there we go, James was on and then I instantly remembered that I had heard of him before.
My friend calls me up and goes “Are you watching are you watching?!” and well I replied that I was and so goes... “He’s got such a cool voice.” So sure enough we hang out and chat , over the phone talking heaps about seeing a James movie and she suggests that we get Casino out, cause she liked that movie and it had James in it, so from which now I have earned the nickname... Sammy... and it’s all ways “enough blueberry’s Sammy?” and if the answer is no then it’s “want me to pull a Nicky Sam?” But deep down both of us were drooling Jimmy all the way, hey so what he’s a sleazy pimp, he does sleazy really well... Next movie I was hanging out for was John Carpenter’s vampire’s I was watching the papers for it’s cinema release... and how typical is that... it went straight to video, violent movies aren’t to popular where we are... with most of the going straight to video... Stir of Echo’s another example, but not of Jimmy’s work... I know I still have a million and one Jimmy films to still see, and I would never remember when he was born and where unlike my first Jimmy love... whom James’ buddy Oliver did a flick about... entitled “The Doors” It was my introduction to Oliver and it took me two days to watch that film half one day and half another, I had a short attention span, it was a drama study case, I did a performance of Jim Morrison for a school drama requirement... If it weren’t for me remembering Oliver’s name and looking him up, I would of never watched most of the films he’s done with Jimmy... Salvador being the movie in which I found Jimmy is at his best...
(soon up James info...)
