The Maganac is a mass-produced mobile suit similar to the Leo, developed by an independent Middle Eastern nation and used exclusively by the forty members of the eponymous Maganac Corps. The Maganac Corps would operate their Maganac units for several years, hiding from the Earth Alliance and OZ at times while resisting fiercely at others. This private army escorts Gundam Sandrock pilot Quatre Raberba Winner during his first visit to Earth, and thereafter fights its own independent war against OZ and the Romefeller Foundation.

Many of the Maganac Corps' members also customized their own Maganacs in one way or another, either cosmetically, or in the case of the Corps' squad leaders, with additional armor and weapons. These customizations include a variety of armament - shell-firing rifles, cannons, machine guns, scimitars, beam sabers, and so forth - as well as modified armor and thruster systems. However, for the most part these variants are all functionally similar, and the Maganac Corps' success in battle against OZ's advanced mobile suits is due more to the skill and tactical discipline of its pilots than to the capabilities of their mobile suits. While it's tailored for desert combat, the versatile Maganac can fight in a wide range of terrains, and even in space.
