Saiyan Saga

The Saiyan Saga was the first saga in the Dragonball Z series. It includes the reuniting of old Dragonball characters, plus new important ones, such as Gohan and Vegeta. It also opens up more information about Goku's past and his native race. Goku dies in this saga, and Gohan learns to fight from Piccolo, who is now a Z Warrior.

Frieza Saga

The second saga in the series, the Frieza Saga, was one of the more popular ones. One reason being beacuase it showcases the first showing of the Super Saiyan, who is Goku. It also marks the time when Vegeta first (sorta) fights on the side of the Z Warriors.

Android Saga

The third saga inroduces 2 more important permanant characters: Trunks (Vegeta's son) and Android 18. During this saga, two more characters are known to be Super Saiyan: Trunks and Vegeta, in which Vegeta is getting closer to becoming a good guy. There is no true resolution to this saga, because it links into the next.

Summary

Cell Saga

A popular saga, it introduces 2 more levels of Super Saiyan: Ultra Super Saiyan, and Super Saiyan 2. Vegeta show's that he has a heart when he retaliates against Cell after he mortally wounds Trunks. Gohan is the first to reach Super Saiyan 2. This saga also marks the "permanant" death of Goku.

Buu Saga

The 5th and final saga in the DBZ series, the Buu Saga, is one of the longer sagas. It introduces the fact that Vegeta and Android 18 are now truely on the side f good. It also introduces more new characters: Goten, Chibi Trunks, Marron, Videl, Buu, and Ubuu. It also, for the first time shows the two different fusions, which are from the Potara earrings and the fusion dance. This saga marks the death of Vegeta, who sacrafices himself for his love of Bulma and their son, Trunks. His death is more like a rebirth, as he now cares for others besides himself.
