I suggest you buy the furniture for your home and lay it off to the side of the lot so you know how much money you have to construct with, if you need infromation on how to furnish your sims home just check out my article on home furnishings. Now after you have bought the lot and the furniture you've got about 8,500 dollars to build your dream house. I like to start out with the kitchen, construct a six by five block room, put tile down and add wallpaper.

Next, you need to add a bedroom, since this isn't the most important room in the house all you need is a small, quiet 4 by 4 room just big enough to put a double bed in. Then add the bathroom which should be about three by three, with a bathroom this small it might be a good idea to use a shower as opposed to a bathtub, because it takes up only one square instead of two. Of course your sims will need a place they can go to have fun and study, another simple four by four room will work for this purpose.

Although a house would be usless if you didn't have a way to access it, so you need to put a front door and doors to all the other rooms and add a couple windows in each room with those small white rectangular windows in the bathroom for privacy sake. Now your personal tastes come into play with interior and exterior decorating. Hopefully you should have enough cash left to use any wallpaper or flooring you want short of the really expensive ones. Finally move in Michaels furniture and arrange it to your liking, and don't forget to add the burglar alarms on the corners of the lot, and move Michael on in to his new home.
