House Party Review

Well if you’re like me you want your Sims to have a good time. However, The Sims and Livin’ Large came and went without improving one of the most essential social elements....The party. While it was possible to have a party before the newest expansion pack came out, it was a painful and tedious process. For those of you who have yet to purchase House Party then this review is written almost solely for you. However those of you who have it and want to argue or agree with the points I make here I encourage you to do so. Anyway, Lets get down to business.

While House Party fails to address the sims movement problems and doesn’t allow you to follow your sims to work, two major outcries from the Sim community, it does however support the claim that sims are in fact social creatures. There are two very important aspects to this game that I find very convenient. The first of which is the “Throw a Party” feature on the newest phone. The second being, the ability for a guest to let his or her self in when invited to a party. This is convenient because your Sim can concentrate on being social instead of greeting everyone.

In my opinion the best new object in the game is the Caterer’s Table, this allows your Sim to higher a pricy but valuable caterer who will prepare food for your guests and he even cleans up after the party so your sims can get a few hours sleep or perform various other activities. The addition of three new neighborhoods allows you to create up to eighty families.

As far as skins go they are by and by quite similar to the additions made in Livin’ Large as are the new floors and walls. Quite a few are really tacky and probably should only be worn or present in a party environment. But, some are rather nice and really improve the quality of your sims home. There are fewer windows added in House Party however the supply of cheap doors seems to have greatly increased. While no fireplaces and roofs are added two new stairs come into play including a rather odd matter transporter.

As for more objects the majority of them are party group activities such as the mechanical bull, dance floor, dance cage, and others. New tables as well as chairs are abound in House Party however I was disappointed with the lack of new kitchen appliances. Two new bathroom objects, by the way I think its time for Maxis to leave the toilets be as House Party contains another kooky John. A few new electronics have come about but as I said most are group activities.

I’ve heard quite a few reviews saying that House Party isn’t worth the money I however do. For me more then anything else it was something to get me excited about the sims again. Maxis has done an excellent job improving the social aspect of the game and while a couple of problems have not been corrected I think this expansion pack is better then the best selling Livin’ Large. I was moderately disappointed in the lack of new careers but 15 is a solid number. In closing, if your in it for the new objects then you might wanna consider Livin’ Large but if your sims like to party then go ahead and slap down the $29.99 MSRP and enjoy the party that is the Sims.
