Annirians

Annirians come form the planet Aniria, in the Delphinous system. It is a Class A planet, unspoiled in some places, mechanised in others. It has 8 landmasses, multitudes of islands, and many oceans.
In appearance the natives are beautiful, but their true personality is shown in their transformation. They have amazing longevity. Sometimes existing well over 5000 years…@_@ (Shi’nah) They are a very private people, and are incredibly loyal to their families. They create bonds with family members, with their workmates (not quite as personal) and with their village. Of course in a city environment, people are much more to themselves.

Their government consists of the Council of Eight, with representatives from each continent, enforced by a military society. Laws are enforced with cruelty, and your average Annirian will obey them. However, the northern settlements are much more relaxed. The term ‘Kohbrin’ means war leader, but also loner. The war leader is usually referred to as ‘the Kohbrin’ - no name is given. They are highly respected members of society.

Due to a cataclysmic event, some thousands of years ago, (Often referred to as the Time of Lost Souls.) most of the population was killed. The remaining members had their cell structure mutated by the solar rays in order to survive. This formed two castes: The normal members, civilians, Warriors, and the like, and the Shi’nah. The normal Annirians have two transformations: demonic (as seen in DBZ) and ‘Wild’ in which all rationality and reason is destroyed to enable the being to survive. While the demon can be controlled, the wild state can not. They usually live for about 500 years or so. Children are conceived and born naturally (drugs aren’t usually needed, the female is not in any really bad pain.). It usually takes a couple at least 5 years to create a new life. They are not very fertile.

The Shi’nah however are a different story. In body, they are much the same as their normal counterparts. However, they are unable to train very well. The system is very much like the Namecks - Warriors and Healers. However, Shi’nah are also the defenders of their world. They are kept in the military to protect their world form harm, as well as heal the (ungrateful) sick. They are distinguished from their normal counterparts by their calm aura and ‘Mark’ - Three tiny dots arranged in a triangle somewhere on their anatomy.

From the time of being conceived, a female knows she is carrying a ‘godling’. The child bonds with the parents in the six months of gestation, as long as it was conceived in love. From birth to 6 months, they actually drink the blood of their parents, to strengthen the all-important bond, and to absorb the nutrients usually found in the mother’s milk. Occasionally they will take in both milk and blood from the mother’s breast. It is not unusual for the father to feed the Shi’nah in the same way! @_@
This bond is unbreakable, unless the parents, or child is killed…the survivors of this breakage will mourn for a long time, becoming moody and dangerous. It is possible that the mourning Annirian will become so depressed they die, if there is no one to ‘lean’ on. (i.e the Child had only one family member) This is rare, as no family in their right mind would let one of their members die. It is usually a family member who brings back the lost soul from the ‘Spirit World’ However, should the Shi’nah be the result of a mis-matched mating or even a rape (it has happened) the resulting offspring will be unstable and highly dangerous anyway. The child spends time with its parents, strengthening the Bond and is either handed over to the local authorities to be trained, or sent to the North.

No one is sure as to how a Shi’nah is created. There have been some theories, but they are all wrong. Shi’nah are infertile, so they cannot breed themselves. They have three transformations. Demonic, wild, and Holy. A Shi’nah must never take a life, or they will lose their right to use their power…continually life taking will result in a Change for the worse - they lose the extra code that allows them to transform. It is a painful process, and often the Shi’nah in question dies.
However, should they survive, they will become a Warrior and the power inside them fades, allowing them to basically get a life in society, settle down and have a family. It has been rumoured that former Shi’nahs are capable of breeding new beings of their kind, but this has only been proven in one case (Case Study: Zarbon Talbain), so it is dismissed as being a myth.
There is also another myth - Shi’nah infants kill their mothers in the birthing process. This only applies to an aforesaid mismatched mating or rape. The infant is often killed, but there are rumours of a settlement of Dark Shi’nah in the South.

Annirians love jewellery, and a good yarn. They are omnivores, their diet consisting of meat from the local fauna, and certain types of plants. The Earthen plant Lavender is a great snack for any visitor!
