Leaf Raking
Leaf raking was a very enjoyable experience. My 4-H Club, the Greenhouse Explorers, helped our community by raking and bagging elderly people's lawns. Our sponsor was the Touch Point Leaf Raking Service. In return for our services, we were able to gain $1000 for our efforts. In my experience with this project for the community, I learned more about working together with people and patience. An example of learning to work together is when I had raked a pile of leaves and someone else had to hold the bag for me so I could bag the leaves. And vice versa. Also, an example of me learning patience is when it was a windy day, I was very tired and we were just about finished, and then a big gust of wind came and blew our bags over and we had re-bag our leaves. When we raked people's yards, they were so happy that we had taken the time to do it. For us, it was just a simple way of giving back to our community when they had given so much to us. I am happy to say that I am in 4-H and have had this opportunity to reach out to others and lend them a helping hand, because I know it brings them joy.
