Beer Review: Murphys Irish Amber

While most Americans, and lots of Irish, claim Guinness to be Ireland’s true beer (and this can be debated throughout all eternity), many believe that Murphys Irish Amber is the beer of emerald Isle. I must confess I have not tried their renowned Irish Stout. While the bottles are adequate to get the point, the draft is to die for. It contains everything a beer lover could ask for. I prefer this to Harp (which also has a rich history). This drink is brewed in Cork Ireland since the 1850s, according to their website. I believe that Murphys, in its numerous incarnations, could silence a screaming banshee or banish a babbling leprechaun. Its rich and complex flavor follows one through the entire pint and a quarter hour afterwards. It’s remarkably filling for an amber ale, but will not leave you unsatisfied at all.
