Beer Review: Negra Modelo
When a beer is referred to as 'la crema de la cerveza' (the "elite of beers"), one would certainly expect quite a brew to be hitting one's taste buds. Not knowing I was partaking of such an 'elite' quaff, I nevertheless enjoyed this dark Mexican ale. Following on the footsteps, as it did, of the Carta Blanca I was immediately struck by the (comparative) fullness of this beer's body. Rich and thicker, but not overpowering at all! It did not seem to have any aftertaste and went well with the chips and salsa I was noshing on (having finished my chicken fajita salad). This lager was not too heavy - there just seemed to be, well...more to it, that's all - like one might expect from a dark Mexican brew. I'll have to try this again before proclaiming it an "elite" beer, but I certainly won't mind the re-tasting!
