Sam Waterston
Samuel Waterston was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on November 15, 1940 and grew up in a stable and wholesome family. After attending Yale and studying in Paris, Mr Waterston, started a career on Broadway. Realizing Broadway gave him an iffy career Sam did some T.V. acting in between musicals and plays. Life was not kind to Mr. Waterston for quite awhile. He went flat broke and he and his wife became divorced. But Sam kept on pushing ahead and finally it paid off. Receiving T.V. roles and a few Emmys, Sam found the love of his life,Lynn and they have been married for 25 years. He's had numerous movie roles and, since Season Five, has been playing the part of Jack McCoy on Law&Order. He lives in a farm house in Connecticut and has two sons- James and Graham; and two daughters- Elisabeth and Katherine.
I think I look up to Mr. Waterston because he is a small town guy who made it to the big times and all the while has remained a humble and respectable man. He loves the work he does and has inspired all of his children to also become an actors and actresses. James and Elisabeth have acting careers already, including parts on "Law&Order". Graham and Katherine are hoping get into acting as they get older. Sam also is a person who hasn't lost hope that the world can be made into a better place. He has a great concern for society and the people that make it up. He works with various organizations, including Refugees International, to try and do his part to make the world a better place.
I enjoy watching Sam act and he is a wonder to watch, in my opinion. Over all his years of acting he has played memorable roles and not so memorable roles- like any actor or actress. He likes to pick parts which challenge and interest him. Each of the characters he has portrayed are different from each other except for one thing- they are all believable.
He may not be a "hottie" or a young little piece of eye-candy, but Mr. Waterston IS a great actor and a great person. He loves his family and appreciates everything that many actors hate- the love of his fans and the work he has. If only the world had more actors like him- actors that make good role models for young adults and all adults in general.
Plus, anyone who hangs out with Miss Piggy is automatically cool in my book. :)
