| I stumbled over this CD in a used record store and after giving it a quick listen decided that it belonged in my collection. It belongs in yours as well. The Bluebeats have managed to mix the traditional rhythms of the first wave with strong vocals, catchy ska beats and a few third wave melodies in order to achieve an amazing and truly unique sound. All of the tracks seem to follow the title; Dance With Me. And any track on this disc could each get a room full of rudies moving pretty well. Even if you’re not throwing a party anytime soon, you can throw this record on, sit back, relax and get your groove on. The overall optimism in The Bluebeats’ songs make it impossible not to be happy when you are listening to the CD. Some of the lyrics carry a religious theme which may turn some people off, but it’s not overbearing and dosen’t overshadow the music. All of the songs are great, but as with any album there are some that stand out above the rest. My favorite songs are “Hardest Working Man” which is about a wayward slacker and “Why Not” in which a rude boy wonders aloud as to how he managed to land his current girlfriend. Rating: 10 |
