try this bookmarklet
if you want to tinker with it, you can copy it from this box
or download it as a bookmark file to vmu
when you try it, the image above will vanish, and be replaced by its alt text... (though, this current example has no alt text...)
this one is very useful for image-heavy pages to make them load faster...
unfortunately, it is still in development... so, it won't work from bookmarks the way it should (YET!!)... for now, save it as a bookmark, and when you are going to be viewing alot of pages with images, just paste it into your url bar... then, whenever you want the page to load faster, just cntrl+o and use it that way...
