Welcome to the jetsgo page of my favorite airlines section.
jetsgo immediately caught my attention with its choice of aircraft the MD-80, and of course the unusal paint scheme featuring a "Smiley Face" on the tail. With the choice of aircraft, the new airline also distinguishes itself as the first scheduled airline in Canada to operate the McDonnell Douglas MD-80. Years ago Wardair of Canada had placed an order for the MD-80
but the aircraft were never taken up.
jetsgo, headquartered in Montreal, Canada began service on June 12, 2002 with flights to Winnipeg, Toronto, Halifax, and Vancouver utilizing three MD-80 aircraft (one MD-82 & two MD-83s) configured to carry 160 passengers. jetsgo modeling itself after low-fare leader Southwest Airlines, will offer its passengers low-fare, no frills flights in a one-class layout.
Sadly jetsgo ceased operations on March 11th, 2005. I was very sad to see this airline shut down as I had met numerous employees during the past few years and they had nothing but good things to say about the carrier and the excitement they displayed about its future.
Goodbye jetsgo, you will not be forgotten.
