I love having the 60Hz option, it was the greatest thing Sega could have thought of when making the Dreamcast!! Of course, before my old TV blew up on me forcing to get another one, I was permanently stuck in 50Hz mode, but I didn't care because I had never tasted 60Hz before. Most gamers are like that, thinking 60Hz cant be all that great, and they find 50Hz good enough for them. But how they are wrong.
On getting my new TV, I found my old RF lead wasn't working properly, I wasn't getting any sound and that was when I just got my Free copy of Chu Chu! On buying a scart lead though, I instantly noticed that my TV screen looked crisper. But it wasn't till I tried 60Hz mode that I fell in love!! When I first played Sonic Adventure in 60Hz, I was amazed at how fast the cool blue dude was! The screen looked better too in full screen mode, the graphics look like they had been enhanced. I got used to playing all my games in 60Hz, so that when I played Sonic Adventure again in 50Hz, I was just disgusted at how slow Sonic moved!
I've been playing PSO in 60Hz mode as well. I once went in 50Hz mode to meet someone online, and was tearing my hair out with frustration because it was so bloody slow. The graphics looked like a Playstation game, not a Dreamcast game. Another good point about 60Hz mode is that all imports are in 60Hz mode so if you don't have a TV that accepts scart, chances are you wont have 60Hz, so you'll never be able to play imports.
You see, having 60Hz does make a big difference, and I urge all Dreamcast owners to buy a new telly with 60Hz as it is well worth it. I just feel sorry for all those games on other consoles that are permanently stuck in 50H mode…Why cant other consoles follow Sega great example and include a 50/60Hz option? Its not like it would give them much hassle.
