Sainte-Chappelle
(plus traditional French meal and the Moulin Rouge)

Sainte-Chapelle is an amazing place.  It has an upper chapel and a lower chapel.  This Gothic design looks like a jewel box!  This is the lower chapel.  Jon doesn't know the name of this place, so Jon calls it "The church across from Notre Dame"!

I'm ready to go upstairs! Originally the upper chapel was reserved for the king and the royal family. I feel so privileged!

A large and detailed rose window shines on the west side.  Chairs are lined along the sides so people can sit and admire the stained glass.

Each window outlines stories from the Old Testament on the left and the New Testament on the right.  One could spend hours deciphering it all!  The large white curtain is there for construction.. and it spoils the photo!

The alter/relequary.  Holy relics used to be housed in here.  They had some  big ones here, including a piece from the crown of thorns.

You can tell this man is sure enjoying the experience!! ZzZzZ!

Le Danube: The Restaurant!

After living on mainly baguettes to get by with food, we treated ourselves to meal at a local restaurant, Le Danube.

A nice "big bottle" of wine will start us off fine, thanks! The French do love their wine.
Menu

The Menu!  Hmm..what shall we have?  Jambon?....Potiron?...ah, Chocolat!  There's a word I know! We encountered some difficulty ordering from this scrawled out menu.

Moulin Rouge

After dinner, we thought a leisurly stroll through the red light district would be a great supplement to our evening.  I must admit, it is quite amusing with all the seedy shops and men trying to call you into them.  The Moulin Rouge is located at the heart of this area, and we just had to have a peek since it was just up our street!  Our hotel was in the Monmarte district, but luckily more near the Sacre Coeur side than this end!
Fancy a Show?

The entrance.  Men with red suits are ready to admit the evening's guests.  It would have been interestint to see, but they wanted about €150 for a show.  A bit above our budget!

Le Moulin Rouge!

An overall view.  This is something you'll see all the time in holiday brochures..and there it was!  The windmill going around is sure amazing to see!
