Camp Counselor and C.I.T. position desription

Position Camp Counselor
Camp Resident camp or caravan (depending on location and date).
Trainning Dates Contact director for dates.
Reports to Camp Unit Director and/or Camp Director
Position Desription The North Valley Family YMCA will operate a resident camp or a caravan trip experience for boys and girls in the 3rd grade to 8th grade (8-16years of age). The Counselor will supervise and live with 8-10 children for the duration of the camping experience.

The Counselor will be resposible for the safety and health of the campers in their cabin. The Counselor will at all times know where their campers are and assume thay are adhering to the rules and regulations of camp.

The Counselor will act as a role model for the campers and conduct himself/herself accordingly. The Counselor will apply discipline as outlined by the policies of the YMCA. At no time will the Counselor use corporal punishment or physical means while administering discipline.

The Counselor shall attend pre-camp training and rally nights. The Counselor shall be available for the whole duration of the camping experience

Recommend
Requirements
18 years of age with desire and attitude to work with youth. CPR and first aid certicate. Applicant must be fingerprinted. must have proven management and communication skills
Conduct As a presentative of the YMCA, you are expected to maintain high standards of behavior and conduct while at camp. in addition, the following rules must be followed with exception:

1. No drugs, except prescription medication checked in with the nurse.
2. No alcoholic beverages.
3. No smoking.
4. No sex anytime, anyplace.
5. No staying up past curfew.
