emergency services victoria

...department of natural resources and environment...

The NRE use the SMR radio system in trunking mode which means that it is a lot harder for us to listen to them but during fire seasons when there is a large fire going on, they will often use the frequencies listed below so as to enable easier communications with other departments such as the CFA etc.  All these frequencies are SIMPLEX which means you would need to be fairly close to hear them but put them in your scanner anyway as you never know what you may hear!!!

The NRE is responsible for management of fire prevention and suppression on public lands in Victoria.  The Fire Management Branch is responsible for monitoring fire on public land across the state and coordinating an appropriate response, developing specialist fire equipment and managing the fire related training.  The NRE also responds to other emergency situations affecting Victoria's primary industries and natural environment, such as outbreaks of exotic pests and diseases, floods, drought, and the impacts of fire on private land.
