"Are you writing?"
"No. I'm thinking."
"Don't think! Just fucking write."
"Don't be vulgar."
"Look who's talking."
"I'm THINKING. I'm not talking and I can't write."
"Think about food. Then write."
"That doesn't help."
"Especially not since your deadline is tomorrow at nine."
"Shut up!" There was a thud as a shoe hit the wall near her head.
"If you have to throw stuff throw YOUR stuff, okay? I'm going to go take pictures."
"Have fun. Maybe we'll have money to develop the film."
"Yeah. RIGHT."
Somewhere Else
"Do NOT touch my hair!"
"Haha, poor Nicky's hair got messed up."
"Shut up!!"
"Ow! Damn you!"
"Haha."
"Stop it! Ow. Wait.. what's that chick doing? What the hell?"
Glyn looked around at all the happy people. 'Hmm..." She snapped a picture of a young girl smiling up at the sunny sky, grimacing at the rather disgustingly sweet and typical subject matter. She looked around the park doubtfully, hoping there might be something a bit more interesting somewhere.
"Umm, she's taking pictures, you retard." Nick glared hatefully at AJ.
"She is not! That isn't a camera, it's a gun or something." AJ stuck his tongue out at Nick.
"It's one of those cameras with a ton of lenses." Kevin watched the photographer-sniper with bored disinterest.
"No!" AJ was in a particularly vengeful mood (he'd just broken up with his girlfriend for the third time that week) and didn't feel like being proved wrong. He shoved Nick rather roughly, and he fell into the lake they were standing near.
"Yess..." Glyn smiled to herself and snapped a shot of the guy falling backwards into the lake, and the one who pushed him in. "Maybe that will turn out.."
"That chick took a picture of you." Kevin informed Nick and AJ.
"Where is a fucking bodyguard?" Nick stood up, wiped water out of his eyes, and combed his fingers through his hair unhappily, imagining all the duck poop and algae that had probably collected in it. He was really pissed. He was all wet and there was some crazed fan running around snapping pictures. "DAMNIT!"
"Let GO of me! What the hell is wrong with you?" Glyn frowned and tried to pull her arms out of the grasp of some weird big guy wearing all black. "What is your problem? Leave me alone!" She clutched at her camera, afraid they would break it, and knowing she couldn't replace it if they did.
"You need to come with us." Another big scary weird guy in black said gruffly.
"What the HELL?" She bit the guy's hand that was bruising her arm. He yelled and let go of her.
"What's going on?" Kevin watched the scene amusedly. The girl had started running, still holding the weird camera.
"I dunno!" AJ grinned maliciously and started chasing after her.
"SHIT!" Glyn ran into someone and heard her camera crunch. She stopped and started examining it for cracks. "Shit shit SHIT!"
"You ran into me!" AJ scowled and rubbed his shoulder gingerly.
"You shouldn't have gotten in my way, cretin." She took one of the lenses off and held it up to the light. There were miniscule cracks running all over it, and she could barely see through it. "Damn you! You killed my camera!"
"Miss, come this way, please." The stupid bodyguard took hold of her arm again and started steering her somewhere.
"Get OFF, you morphodite! Take HIM! He broke my camera!" She twisted away from the ass in black.
"WHAT did you call me?" He glared at her and tried to comprehend the word 'morphodite.' Obviously, bodyguards were not picked for their intelligence.
"A MORPHODITE!" Glyn snarled. "Who the hell are you, anyway?"
"What? You don't KNOW?" AJ looked at her dumbfounded. "Do you live under a rock!?"
"So sorry, and yes, I do live under a rock. No, I do NOT know who the HELL you are and why some random perverts are trying to take me off to their little hellhole."
"Uhm..." AJ stared at the bodyguard. "Barnaby, let go of her for a minute. Wait! No, not yet. Don't run away, okay?" He directed the last question at Glyn.
"If that thing lets go of me you can bet I'm running-"
"Nevermind! Don't let go of her then. Nick! Kevin! Get over here!" he commanded. Glyn frowned at the two guys that appeared at his order.
"I hate you!" she said in the direction of the blonde one who had been pushed into the lake. Maybe it wasn't his fault the idiot had pushed him but if he hadn't fallen she wouldn't have taken a picture and he wouldn't have yelled for his damn bodyguards.
"What?" Nick was bewildered.
"I guess we're not here to sign autographs?" Kevin asked disinterestedly.
"WHO ARE YOU?" Glyn was somewhat scared. The three idiots looked at each other and laughed. The ass in black started dragging her towards a car. "Oh, no you don't! Let go of me!" Holding Glyn by one shoulder, the idiot took her camera in the other hand.
"I'll keep this safe for you," he assured her. Glyn wasn't comforted.
"NO! You won't! What the hell is going on? What did I do?!" Seeing her distress, AJ strolled over and took the camera.
"I won't let anyone break it." He smiled stupidly. "Go away, Barnaby. We don't need you anymore."
"Shouldn't we wait for.." Barnaby hesitated.
"No. Go away. I don't think she's very dangerous." AJ looked at Glyn smugly. Barnaby looked at his bleeding hand and shrugged, then let go of her. He walked away slowly. "Hi, I'm AJ."
"Great. I don't care what your name is. Give me my camera." Glyn glowered at him hatefully.
"You said you wanted to know who we are." AJ pointed out. "That's Nick, that's Kevin." He nodded at the two other guys.
"Uhm.. hi." Nick said intelligently.
"Hi there." Kevin watched her nervously.
"Well isn't that NICE." Glyn said sarcastically. "Can I go now?"
"Go ahead. No one's keeping you here." AJ said noncommittally.
"You have my camera, asshole." Glyn was really not happy with this situation.
"Oh yeah, sorry." He held it out to her, and she looked at him suspiciously, taking it quickly. They watched her run off toward the road.
"Barnaby!" Nick whined pointlessly. She was already gone.
"It's okay. I have her phone number." AJ grinned mysteriously.
"What?" Nick was confused.
"It was on her camera." AJ turned and strolled back in the direction of the lake. Kevin and Nick stared at him.
"I HATE PEOPLE!" Glyn yelled as she stormed into the apartment and slammed the door.
"Jee, someone's in a good mood." Marian sighed and looked wearily at the ceiling.
"They broke my camera. They assaulted me and BROKE the CAMERA." Glyn resisted the urge to scream. "My camera!!! I'll never be able to get this fixed. I have no money."
"Call your parents and tell them you'll come home if they don't send you cash," Marian suggested. Glyn snorted.
"Yeah, that'll work. Why do I always have to run into the freakish morons? WHY?!" She sank onto the floor and put her camera down carefully.
"What ARE you talking about, anyway?" Marian raised one eyebrow. The phone rang, so Glyn didn't get to answer.
"I'm not getting that. NO." Glyn got back up and started pacing around the room aimlessly. Marian picked up the phone.
"What do you want?" she asked tiredly.
"Uhmm.." AJ wasn't used to people answering the phone this way. "Uhmm.. Is this.. that girl?"
"What the hell are you talking about?" Marian flinched as Glyn threw one of her shoes against the wall. "Who is this?"
"Listen, I'm sorry I broke the camera. Can I pay for it or something? Make it up to you?" AJ looked around nervously.
"Uhm.." Marian held the phone away from her face. "Glyn, some guy’s on the phone. He wants to fix your camera." Glyn answered by shrieking and throwing the other shoe at the wall.
"Her name is Glyn?" AJ said eagerly.
"NO. I don't think she wants to talk to you. Sorry." Marian was getting very impatient with Glyn's little fit. "Get a HOLD of yourself, Glyndalyn dear!"
"GLYNDALYN?" AJ was astonished. The girl he met at the park who bit Barnaby was named Glyndalyn??
"What did you do to her??"
"I didn't mean to!" AJ really hadn't meant to stand in front of her and cause her to break the camera. Or had he broken it? Hm.
"You freak. Tell me who you are."
"HIS NAME IS AJ! What the hell kind of name is AJ? AJ... it sounds like a stalker name! Or a gay pop star!" Glyn yelled.
"Um... My name is AJ. I'm a ... singer." AJ cringed and heard laughter.
"She was right! I always thought she should have been a psychic instead of a photographer. Is that all? Would you mind if I hang up?"
"Yes. I would! Can I please pay for the camera?"
"I HATE you!" Glyn shouted.
"Please??? As a side note, I'm not gay!"
"Of course not." Marian chuckled. "She doesn't want you to pay for the camera. Bye."
"Stop!! He'll pay for my camera? Wait... no. Nevermind." Glyn decided it was better to never see that freak again than to have her camera fixed for free.
"Okay." AJ heard the phone click and immediately pushed 'redial.'
"I don't know who you are and I don't know why you're calling me." Glyn had picked up the phone. "Are you supposedly famous or something? Is that why people spazzed when I took a picture?"
"Um.. kind of." AJ stammered. Was this the same person who had been yelling in the background previously? "My name is AJ."
"Yes, you've said that a few times now." "I'm a singer." AJ was still rather confused by the lack of open hostility in her voice.
"Good for you. I'm a photographer. But not really." She laughed only somewhat bitterly. "What do you want?"
"I wanted to pay for fixing your camera-"
"I would prefer for you to pay for developing some film. Would you consider that?" Glyn asked in a kind tone. "The camera works without that lens."
"Well then why were you screaming about it?!" AJ demanded. "I thought I killed your camera."
"Umm.... I guess it was hysterical shock. I don't like that ass Barnaby," she commented, remembering the asshole dressed in black who had assaulted her. "I love my camera. It's like my child."
"That's...nice. Uhm... Maybe I'll have Barnaby replaced."
"Replaced? You'll fire him? That would be nice. Does he always assault innocent photographers?"
"Innocent? He's never assaulted anyone we didn't tell him to-"
"You pushed that idiot in a lake and he told Barnaby to assault ME! I'm innocent."
"You were until you bit him. Now he hates you."
"I'm devastated. It was self defense. I should go. I'm going to go find my shoes." Glyn was suddenly tired of human contact.
"Your shoes?"
"Yeah. I threw them and now they're lost."
"Can I pay for your camera lens?" AJ asked, but she had already hung up.
"Mari??" Glyn looked around for Marian, but she had left when Glyn had started talking to AJ.
