Chapter Three

Chapter Three The Next Week

"Mail call!" Marian called cheerfully as she walked into the apartment. Glyn didn't look up but kept glaring at the floor. "Something from your family." She threw an envelope at Glyn. She still didn't move. "Glyndalyn! Glynnie, what's up?"

"Shut up." Glyn ripped open the envelope and dumped some cash onto the floor. "Three hundred. Woohoo. Dear Glyn: I hope this is enough. If you need more, just call. Love, Mom." she laughed bitterly.

"Three hundred? They sent THREE HUNDRED? I wish my parents would do that." Marian sighed. "Why are you in a bad mood today?

"Dunno." Glyn looked at her money and suddenly didn't really want it. 'Hmm... now how am I going to get rid of this? Of course! I'll have some of my film developed.' She smiled at the curt letter from her mother. "I'm getting pictures!!!" She stomped gleefully into her room and started collecting film. "...Fourteen. Fifteen. Sixteen. Seventeen rolls! This is going to be great. I'll have my picture of AJ and the asshole who summoned Barnaby."

"Who's Barnaby? Who's the asshole?" Marian asked from the doorway.

"Barnaby's a bodyguard. The asshole told him to assault me."

"Why do you want a picture of him, then?"

"I ... um.. Because. Memories and shit." Glyn picked up as much of the film as she could in two hands and put it in a bag, then went back for the rest of it. "I'll be back soon!" she said merrily and ran out.

A FEW DAYS LATER, yup yup yup

"Brian, you're being weird." Nick informed him.

"Go away." Brian muttered.

"Why are you being weird? Briiiiaaaan!" Nick pulled his hair. Brian smacked him ruthlessly. "Owwww!!! My NOSE!" Nick looked in a mirror. "Brian, there's gonna be a bruise on my nose-"

"Sorry." Brian wanted Nick to go away.

"Where's your fiancé?"

"Don't call her that."

"Why not? She's your fiancé. Why-"

"Umm... her name is Audrey. You could call her Audrey." Brian really didn't want to think about the fact that he was engaged to her at the moment.

"Okay, then." Nick looked at Brian strangely and went to go bother Kevin instead. "Kevin!! Brian's being weird."

"Leave him alone then." Kevin didn't look up. He was reading a review of their CD. "Damnit! This person hates us! 'Their lyrics are predictable, the harmonies flat, and it holds no meaning whatsoever.' Well fuck them!"

"Ooh!! Let me read it." Nick snatched the magazine from Kevin.

"You don't know how to read, you idiot!" AJ yelled from his seat on a couch where he was watching TV.

"Shut up! I do too! Listen: 'But my main complaint with this boy "band" is the tall, (bleached) blonde "cute" one, a certain Mr. Carter.' Hey! That's me! She wrote about me." Nick didn't try to interpret what he'd read. AJ was laughing.

"Whoever wrote that hates us..." he observed.

"I already said that," Kevin stated.

"Hey! It's written by someone named MARIAN. See? I can read!" Nick stated proudly.

"What? Marian!" Brian jumped up and stole the magazine from Nick.

"Give that back! It's mine." Nick lunged for the magazine and Brian dodged.

"It's mine, Nick." Kevin glared at him.

"Marian..." Brian read the byline. "Marian Arden. Who's that?"

"I dunno. She hates us," AJ repeated.

"We KNOW that already, idiot." Nick went over to a window and looked out over the street. "HEY! It's that girl! The stupid one with the camera! I think it's her, anyway."

"What? GLYN??" AJ ran over to the window. "It IS Glyn!" AJ ran happily out of his apartment in hopes of getting all the way downstairs before she got too far. Nick was feeling evil and followed.

Glyn was walking down the sidewalk peacefully, looking at some of her newly-developed photos. She was in a rather nice part of the city, as the place where her film was developed was rather expensive because she didn't want them to mangle the pictures in the process.

"Hey!!" Someone pulled the stack of pictures out of her hands. She instinctively clutched the bag the rest of the pictures were in. "You morphodite! Give those back!"

"Hi Glyn!" AJ yelled as he ran away from her.

"AJ?" Glyn whispered to herself, utterly confused for a few seconds. "AJ! Get back here, you asshole!!" She started running after him and heard a slightly familiar voice.

"AJ... AJ wait!! Where are you going?" Nick couldn't keep up with him. He saw someone looking at him with a rather ominous expression and started to back away but he wasn't quick enough. AJ's strange acquaintance had her hands around his neck before he could get far enough away from her.

"AJ, I'm going to kill your FRIEND if you don't give my pictures back!" Glyn shrieked. AJ stopped running and looked at her.

"Nick, you retard! Why'd you follow me?!" he shouted. Nick whined something. Glyn pulled his hair.

"I guess maybe you shouldn't KILL him, Glyn..." AJ thought about it.

"I'm going to! I'll throttle him!" Her hands tightened slightly.

"AJ! Give her pictures back!!!" Nick demanded. AJ sighed defeatedly.

"I hate you, Nick." He went over to them and waved the pictures in Glyn's face. She snatched for them and he pulled them out of her reach. "Can I please look at them?"

"No! They suck. And anyway, they're MINE! Look, Nick's dying," she taunted, slapping the side of his head a few times not too hard. AJ handed her some of the pictures and started looking at the rest of them.

"That's not good enough! You're killing your friend, AJ!" AJ ignored her.

"Hey. It's me! And that's Nick! I remember when you took that picture..." He ignored her venomous glare. "These are really good...."

"They are NOT!" Glyn hit Nick again. "Why should I put any faith in YOUR taste in photography?"

"Uhh... you shouldn't. But I like them." AJ smiled at a picture of Glyn that he assumed Marian had taken.

"Please give them back?" she pleaded forlornly. "Please? No one deserves to be subjected to that crap. Well maybe HE-" she glared at Nick, "-does. But no one else."

"Not even me? I broke one of your camera lenses." AJ said triumphantly.

"Yeah, but HE summoned Barnaby." Glyn glared at Nick, who was beginning to look terrified.

"Let go of me!! Hey..." For once Nick had a semi-intelligent idea.

"I HATE that asshole. Why was he wearing black? The ass in black....." Glyn shuddered.

"Hey AJ? Are there any-"

"Don't do that! She's going to let go of you soon. Aren't you, Glyndalyn?" AJ smirked.

"No I'm not! Give me my pictures. I'll kill him!"

"BARNABY!" Nick shrieked. "Barnaby!! I'm being ASSAULTED, Barnaby!!!!!" Barnaby appeared from somewhere nearby. He started marching over to Glyn. She let go of Nick quickly. "See, Barnaby? She HIT me! And she was trying to strangle me!"

"You again?!" Barnaby scowled at Glyn. In a moment of desperation Glyn grabbed her pictures from AJ, pushed him out of her way, and ran into an unfamiliar building that wasn't too far away in hopes of escape. She didn't have any idea that it happened to be the building that AJ's apartment was in. A cute blonde thing behind a desk stared at her menacingly.

"Can I... help you?" she asked coldly.

"Yeah, um.. there are some people out there.. they tried to mug me." Glyn said carefully. The person looked like she didn't believe her, and reached for a phone.

"We have a.. little problem up here.." she said somewhat quietly. Glyn ran into an elevator that was just opening, colliding with a woman in an expensive-looking fur coat who shrieked even more loudly than Nick had when he summoned Barnaby.

"Move OVER!" she hissed, ducking past a few more angry people and pushing some random buttons. They all hurriedly ran out of the elevator just before the doors shut and Glyn was left alone. She examined the buttons. There seemed to be 22 floors. She pushed the button that said '22' on it. The elevator went up to the 21st floor, then stopped. "Oh shit.." she was afraid people were getting on or something.

"Please enter the passcode." A mechanical voice said. "Please enter the passcode."

"Fuck you!" Glyn started pushing random buttons.

"That is incorrect. Please enter the passcode." The elevator started going back down, though, and Glyn was getting scared. If you needed a passcode to get to the top floor, there would probably be an alarm if someone was entering the wrong one. She heard a buzzing sound coming from somewhere, and a little red light went on. "Oh damn." She pounded on the door, hoping that for some reason it would miraculously open.

ONE HOUR LATER

Marian wondered what was taking Glyn so long. She'd been gone for a lot longer than it took to walk to the photo place and back, even though that was a long while. It would probably be getting dark soon. "Glynnie, where are you?" she whispered to herself. The phone rang and she got it quickly.

"Hello?"

"MARIAN!" Glyn wailed, sounding scared.

"Glyn? Where ARE you?" There was a long pause.

"Umm..."

"Glyn! Tell me right now."

"I'm at the police station..." Glyn could feel everyone in the room staring at her.

"WHAT?!"

"Mari, get me out of here!"

"What did you DO?!" Marian started beating her forehead with her fist.

"Nothing! I didn't do anything!" Glyn heard one of the police people laugh. "It was those people! Those GUYS! And their ass in black. It was them, Mari! It was all their fault! I didn't do anything!"

"Glyn.." Marian sounded pained. "Glynnie, you know we don't have enough money for bail... even with that review I just did."

"Call my parents? Please? Marian, I have to go! They're taking the phone..." Glyn glared at the police person who roughly took hold of her arm.

Marian sighed and hung up the phone. So Glyn was in jail. Poor Glyn. She wondered if she should call her parents... not that they'd send bail or anything, but maybe they'd like to know...

AJ looked guiltily at the picture he'd stolen from Glyn. Actually, he'd stolen two. One was of her, and the other she'd taken.

"AJ, what the hell was going on?" Kevin asked suspiciously.

"It has something to do with Glyn..." He stared intently at the picture.

"That..." Nick looked at AJ's expression and decided against calling Glyn something inappropriate. "That GIRL assaulted me. Then she ran in here and tried to break in... I bet she was going to kill you, Kevin! She wants to kill all of us!"

"Shut up Nick. Don't flatter yourself," AJ ordered angrily. Where had Glyn gone? She just disappeared. "I'll call her and see what's up..."

"Doesn't she kind of hate you?" Kevin wondered.

"Maybe." AJ grinned. He didn't care. He found a phone and dialed her number, which he had memorized.

"Hello?" Someone who wasn't Glyn picked up, sounding haggard.

"Umm... This is AJ. What's your name again?" AJ couldn't remember Glyn's friend's name.

"Marian. This is really a very bad time. What do you want?"

"Can I talk to Glyn?"

"NO, you asshole! I HATE YOU!!!" She hung up the phone. Glyn was in jail and it was AJ's fault! And his stupid friend. And the ass in black. The phone rang again immediately. "I hate you!" she yelled into the phone. "Glyn hates you!"

"Where is she?" AJ was confused. Marian hadn't seemed too hostile when he met her....

"You don't KNOW?"

"What's going on?!" AJ demanded.

"You damn idiot. She's in jail and it's because of you and that damn BARNABY!" She hung up the phone again. AJ didn't call back. He was stunned.

"Glyn... Glyn's in jail? Glyn's in JAIL. FUCK!" He was talking to himself but other people were listening.

"Was that Marian?" someone yelled from another room. AJ frowned. Someone had been listening to him!! He looked in a bedroom. Brian was holding the phone, wondering who had been shrieking madly about hating AJ. "Was it?"

"Yeah. But Glyn's in JAIL!" AJ repeated.

"Ha ha, she deserved it." Nick said gleefully. AJ looked murderous. "She DID! She shouldn't have-"

"You just HAD to call Barnaby! You pansy!!" AJ tried to shut the door on Nick but he got away, still laughing. "I'm going to KILL you!!!"

"Seeya tomorrow, AJ!" Nick ran out into the hallway. AJ opened the door and yelled after him.

"Nick, we're firing Barnaby!! BARNABY! WHERE ARE YOU?!" Barnaby was standing near the door. "Barnaby, go away! I never want to see you again! Okay?!"

"Um, AJ? You can't fire him. You have to go to management and-" Kevin started.

"I can do whatever in hell I want to!" AJ glared at him.

"AJ, calm down! That chick's in jail... so what? It's probably nicer there than at her house." Kevin had heard all about the dingy apartment from Audrey. AJ shoved past Kevin and poured himself some vodka.

"Why don't you just go bail her out?" Brian suggested wearily. "AJ, this isn't the time to get drunk, now.."
