LATER!!!!! like.. a few weeks, yo
Marian looked happily around their new apartment. They'd finally finished moving in a few days ago, and even though they didn't exactly have enough furniture to fill up all the space properly, it looked nice.
"When is everyone coming, again?" Glyn wondered.
"Um, in a half hour. Or something. I don't know! Don't ask me." Marian smiled and walked randomly around the room.
"Aren't you helpful!" Glyn plopped onto the couch and closed her eyes. "I hate moving."
"Me too. We'll live, maybe. At least we have contact to the outside world, neh?" Marian eyed the computer sitting on the floor in a corner. "Free AOL for a year! All right!"
"Yep..." Glyn admired the light greyish blue carpet. The only reason Marian and Glyn had decided to get a computer aside from the fact that they really really wanted one was that they had both gotten jobs. So maybe they were just "random crappy jobs" but they were at least that. Glyn was a waitress at a "random stupid restaurant" and Marian was a store clerk at Barnes & Noble. They had even splurged on a DVD player for the computer and had opted to get a DVD of 'The Land Before Time' instead of food and had told everyone to bring their own damn food for the party. Someone knocked on the door.
"Ooh. Is someone early..." Glyn whispered. She and Marian raced to the door.
"I got there first! I get to open it!" Marian said loudly.
"NO! Me!" Glyn yelled. They both tried to open the door at once and Glyn tripped, stumbling into the hallway. "Oh. Hi Tristan." Tristan, who was one of their more 'normal' friends looked rather intimidated.
"Um. Hi Glyn, hi Marian! Nice place." He walked inside, carrying a bag of chips.
"Ooh! Food!" Glyn grabbed the bag and opened it hungrily.
"Hey! That's my food!" Tristan recaptured the chips. "You said on the message you left to 'bring your own damn food.' Well this is it!"
"Fine, whatever. Look at the carpet!!!" she chirped. "Look! We got a movie!" She held up 'The Land Before Time' proudly.
"Um, great." Tristan backed away.
"Ooo! SOMEONE'S HERE!" Marian yelled and threw open the door. "AMY!!! ASH!!! CECILY!"
"HI!!!" all three squealed and came inside.
"Hi you guys! Look we have a MOVIE!" Glyn waved the case happily.
"Ohmygod! I love that movie!" Amy sighed. She grabbed it from Glyn and pointed at the yellow female triceratops. "Look! It's Nick Carter! You guys remember that don't you?"
"Oh my god!" Glyn started laughing hysterically.
"Um.. he isn't coming is he?" Marian whispered to her frantically.
"Oo there's AJ!" Ash pointed to Sharptooth.
"What?" AJ, Nick, Brian, Kevin, and Howie yelled from the doorway. Ash looked at them, wheezed a few times, and passed out.
"GLYN!!!" Amy looked at her wide-eyed. "Why didn't you TELL me?!"
"Um.. I forgot. Hey, there's Howie." she pointed at Ducky.
"Hey there's DUCKY!" Lillian pointed at Howie. She had just arrived with (her brother) Owen, (her boyfriend) Thom, Alec, Zach, and Nathan.
"What the hell are you people talking about?!" Kevin wondered.
"It really REALLY doesn't matter," Marian assured him. "I smell pizza. I'm hungry."
"Yeah. I kind of wish we'd bought food yesterday," Glyn said wistfully.
"Where'd Brian go?" Howie looked around.
"You mean Petrie?" Cecily smiled and waved shyly at Howie.
"Petrie?!" Brian demanded, holding three boxes that probably had pizza in them. "But he's the gay one!"
"No, that's Littlefoot. Littlefoot is DEFINITELY-" Lillian stopped, staring at Kevin and blushing furiously. "Littlefoot was purple, after all."
"He wasn't purple! He was mauve," Amy corrected. She dragged Ash onto a couch and started slapping her gently. "Ash! Ash wake up." She smiled evilly at Nick and whispered something to Ash. "Prettyboy Carter's here!"
"What?!" Ash sat up. "Oooh, you SO did not say that with him in the room!!!"
"Oh, but I did," Amy insisted. She repeated it more loudly. "ASH! PRETTYBOY CARTER'S HERE! WAKE UP!"
"So you did know who we were when you took that picture!" AJ said accusingly, pointing at Glyn.
"Ooh, look it's God." Glyn crossed her eyes and stole some chips from Tristan. "No I didn't." She pointed at Brian. "Hey, there's Satan."
"Shut up Glyn." Marian commanded. She was surprised to see Brian here. He didn't seem to be a very social person, even though he was always (almost always) nice to her. "Cecily, didn't you bring any food?!"
"Food? I kind of forgot." Cecily reached into her pocket and threw a breath mint at Marian. "There ya go!"
"Jeeee, thanks!!!" MArian caught it and threw it back at her.
"Are you going to explain the 'Land Before Time' crap?" Nick demanded.
"Sure! Okay, YOU, Prettyboy Carter, are Cera, Howie is Ducky-" Amy started
"Aren't those both GIRLS?" Howie wondered.
"Yes, Ducky, let me finish, please. Anyway, Kevin's Littlefoot, who's gay, AJ is Sharptooth, and Brian over there is Petri." Amy stated proudly.
"And NONE of you are Spike cause he's too damn cool to be a GDG." Glyn smiled sweetly.
"But I wanna be Spike!" Brian whined.
"Tough. You're Petrie. End of discussion." Lillian grinned. "Do you have anything to drink, girls?" she looked at Marian, then Glyn.
"Ummm.." Glyn thought for a moment.
"Yeah, I think. We might have diet Sprite. Or maybe if we're lucky Dr. Pepper." Marian went in search of provisions. "Tapwater too."
"Yum yum." Nick rolled his eyes.
"No one asked you, Cera." Amy frowned.
"AMY! BE NICE!" Ash was looking at Nick adoringly.
"No!" Ash smacked Amy, who screamed. "Damn you!"
"Your friends are frankly frightening." AJ informed Glyn.
"YOU should talk." Glyn glared at Nick. Ash and Amy were still slapping at each other. "Nick, this is all your fault. They're gonna kill each other." Marian and Glyn looked at the cluster of non-BSB guys in a corner. They were eating, whispering, and pointing suspiciously at the rest of the people.
"Owen, THOM, are you being antisocial?" Lillian demanded.
"That guy used to stare at me whenever I went in Ash's room." Thom informed them, pointing at Nick.
"Shut up!" Ash threw a couch cushion at him. "I loathe you, my male counterpart."
"So, Ash, this is the famous Nicky?" Nathan eyed Nick warily. "Don't tell me you're going to dump me for him, now.." Ash grimaced.
"Shut it Nathan, you're spoiling my chances." Ash stuck her tongue out at her boyfriend.
"I think we're due for introductions," Brian said.
"Okay!" Glyn started pointing at people. "That's Ash, that's her brother Thom, who is also Lillian's boyfriend, that's Nathan, Ash's boyfriend, there's Lillian, Owen's sister, there's Owen, there's Amy, who secretly lusts after Nick just as much as Ash does, but claims that her favorite is Kevin, there's Alec, and Zach, there's Cecily, who's too nice for her own good, there's Tristan, who's so damn normal it's scary, that's Kevin, also known as Littlefoot, that's Prettyboy, mind his new haircut, that's Howie, don't need to say anything about him, there's Brian who likes Marian, that's Marian, by the way, I'm Glyn, and that's AJ, aka God." Glyn sighed and sat on the floor. Marian threw a shoe at her.
"I still don't know who anyone is, but that was an amusing commentary.." Kevin stated.
"Figure it out on your own then, Littlefoot." Glyn threw Marian's shoe at him.
"No shoe fights tonight, girls.." Owen commanded. "That last one got really ugly."
"Jeez! Why'd you let me come to this?!" Nick grabbed the back of AJ's shirt and listed his grievances. "These people name us after dinosaurs from a freaking cartoon! And I, of course, got to be the bitchy yellow girl dinosaur! They have shoe fights. They call me Prettyboy when they're not calling me Cera! AJ I can't believe you!"
"Wow Nick. You really wanted to come an hour ago." AJ smiled, knowing that Glyn and Marian were listening. They would find that funny.
"He wanted to come?" Marian couldn't believe that.
"He was begging me!" AJ assured her.
"You're LYING!" Nick hit the back of AJ's head.
"Lying?! God doesn't lie, Nick." Nick sighed. He just couldn't win! That's why he needed Barnaby around, so he could get him to haul anyone who bothered him either far away from him or into even into jail.
"You wouldn't even let me bring Barnaby!" He pouted. AJ turned around to face him.
"Nick, you're a big boy now. I know Barny is like a daddy to you but you need to-"
"NO!" Nick didn't want to hear it. He covered his ears and walked to the other side of the room, deciding to try to talk to the six guys who seemed exceedingly wary of them.
"Thank you for carrying the pizza, Brian," Glyn said gratefully as she took the boxes from him and sat them on a table. He smiled at her. "PIZZA!!!!" Glyn yelled, summoning everyone in the room.
Two Hours Later
Marian sighed. "That is the best movie ever," she said decisively. 'The Land Before Time' had just ended.
"I still can't believe you got that instead of buying food!" Tristan the ever-practical repeated for the third time.
"Tristan, can you not understand the word 'nostalgia'?" Cecily smiled sleepily. Tristan grumbled something.
"I guess it's just not a guy movie..." Alec was trying to be fair. "But it's for little kids. How much can you expect us to like it?"
"Hey!! I liked it," AJ declared defensively.
"That just goes to show ya! Male pop stars... well, need I say more?" Amy grinned devilishly. "It just gives 'GDG' a whole new depth."
"GDG? I thought that meant 'God Damn Group!'" Kevin accused. He'd been waiting for weeks to voice his opinion that 'GDG' actually meant something slightly more offensive which no one would tell him. Suddenly, all the girls in the room were laughing at him, and some of the guys.
"God Damn Group? Oh, that's priceless!!!" Lillian couldn't stop laughing. Ash saw Nick looking frustrated for the millionth time that evening and decided to clue him in.
"Hey Nick!" she whispered. He looked attentively at her and she luckily didn't pass out again. "GDG stands for 'Gay Dancing Guys.' Just so ya know." Nick smirked and looked mischievously at his four bandmates.
"What are you smiling for?!" AJ demanded.
"I know something you don't, I know something you don't!" Nick taunted gleefully. AJ started to grab a handful of Nick's hair but then remembered Nick's hair wasn't long enough to do that. He tried to be polite.
"What is it Nick? Please tell us." Nick smiled boastfully. It felt great to have AJ begging him for something for once!!! "Hey, look at Brian over there," AJ said, trying another method of extortion.
--- concurrent conversation: "I still don't see why I have to be Petrie," Brian repeated. "It's just completely unfair!"
"Unfair? Hardly! I mean, look at you." Amy smiled innocently. Brian threw up his hands in defeat. He saw Marian smiling out of the corner of his eye. He'd been protesting the fact that he'd been dubbed the Petrie of the group for about ten minutes because he didn't know what else to talk about. Besides, Marian seemed amused by it, so why not?
"Face it Brian, you could be Petrie's brother," Lillian said gravely.
"Brother?! C'mon Lil. He is Petrie. I thought we'd established that!" Amy was having a lot of fun with this.
"Why me, Marian? Why me?" Brian asked in mock despair.
"Well Brian. First of all, you've got to admit that there is a slight resemblance. But aside from that I think they named you Petri because ... " She tried to remember exactly how Amy had put it. "In their words, you're pathetic and whiny but cute."
".... Hey, look at Brian over there."
"What? Me?" Brian heard his name.
"I mean you, Petrie. But I'm talking to Nick here. He knows something we don't. See Nick?" AJ pointed at Brian. "Brian is depressed because of the Audrey thing and he deserves to know once and for all what GDG means. Can't you see not knowing is tearing him apart?"
"I'd tell you AJ, but I don't wanna be the one to say it!" Nick folded his arms. He was going to win this argument. Brian started to protest that he was not depressed but Kevin was louder.
"Someone tell us PLEASE!" Kevin exclaimed. Thom, Tristan, and Owen exchanged glances. Simultaneously, they mumbled something almost unintelligibly. "WHAT was that?!?!" Kevin's eyes widened. He reminded himself not to be too offended.
"Gay-Dancing-Guys!" Zach said loudly. There was laughter again.
"Hey. What time is it?" Nathan wondered.
"Half past twelve," Ash replied. "Let's watch the movie again!!!!" Marian, Glyn, Lillian, Cecily and Amy cheered. Everyone else in the room either groaned or looked away.
"Absolutely NOT!" Howie protested. "I'm sick and tired of being called-"
"Ducky!"
"Ducky!"
"Ducky!" Amy, Glyn, and Marian chimed.
"SICK of it!" Howie sighed.
"Yup yup yup," Lillian added. Howie glared at her. During the next hour they came to a group decision that it was best to call it a night and let Marian and Glyn sleep because they both had to go to work the next day.
"This is going to take some getting used to," Glyn declared sullenly. "I haven't had a real job for more than three months!"
"And the last one only lasted for two days," Marian remembered.
"Right. You kept your job with the newspaper a little longer. But now we're done with Mr. Harris and Mr. Smith! Woohoo!!!!!!" Glyn cheered.
"Do I have to leave?" AJ whined. He and Brian were the only ones left. "It's so quiet at my place with you two gone."
"Yes. Now go!" Marian commanded. "Out!"
"Brian has to go too." Glyn stated.
"We could both stay and then everyone would be happy." Brian pointed out. Glyn wondered when he'd started talking.
"Not everyone. We don't have any guest rooms. You'd have to fight for the couch or something." Glyn said.
"Who needs guest rooms?" AJ wondered.
"Obviously you do, seeing as you have three of them." Glyn crossed her eyes. "Won't Miffie and Muffie pine if you're gone a whole night?"
"Nah, they're used to that kind of thing." AJ said nonchallantly.
"I'm sure they are." Marian muttered. Glyn looked at her thoughtfully.
"You guys should go." Glyn observed.
"Fine, fine.." AJ started for the door, Brian following him.
"Bye…" Marian smiled and closed the door after them. "Night, Glynnie.."
"Night.." Glyn wandered into her room and turned the lights off. She really didn't want to go to work tomorrow. She hated it. She sat by the window and tried to see the stars, but the lights of the city blocked them out completely. She left her room and went to find Marian.
"Mari? Are you still awake?" Glyn opened her door.
"Yeah. What's up?" Marian was sitting on her bed brushing her hair.
"I think we should go somewhere. On vacation or something."
"Where?"
"I don't care! Where do you want to go?"
"Umm.. how will we pay for it?" Marian wondered what was bothering Glyn.
"I don't know!" Glyn sat on the floor. "I just need to get out of here."
"I have an idea! My parents have that summer house in Vermont.. they might let us hang out there for a bit." Marian smiled. She liked the idea of staying in the woods for a little while.
"Yes! Mari, you're a genius!" Glyn grimaced as she thought of Nick. "I mean, you're, um..."
"I know. I'm a genius." Marian laughed. "When should we leave?"
"As soon as we can! Call your parents! Pack!" Glyn jumped up and ran off to her room. Marian dialed her parents' phone number and looked at a clock. It was about 2, but her parents lived in California, so it was only eleven there.
"Hello?" her mother had picked up.
"Hey Mom"
"Marian! Do you know what time it is? What's wrong?"
"Sorry. Nothing's wrong, I was just wondering if you'd let me and Glyn stay at the cabin in Vermont for a little while."
"Oh! Of course, honey. You have a key, don't you?"
"Yeah, somewhere. I'll find it. I know where the spare is, anyway.." Marian and her mother chatted for a few minutes, then hung up.
"What did she say?!" Glyn was standing in the doorway of Marian's bedroom.
"It's fine. How will we get there?"
"Umm.." Glyn hadn't really thought it out. "Drive?"
"No car." Marian thought for a moment. "I'll bet Owen will loan us that old car of his.."
"You get to ask him!" Glyn said cheerfully. "Owen hates me."
"He does not." Marian wondered if Owen was still awake. "Maybe we should wait until morning.."
"Yeah, probably. I bet my mum will send money.."
