March 9, 2005 — Stagger News
Buzz here. My what a year it has been. In early December '03 I stepped up on bass for Criminal Class USA in what David Mathews called "an audition." Well, that "audition" lasted until the end of August '04, and it was one hell of a ride. I enjoyed 21 shows and 3 weeks on the road with my favorite local act before I was sucked back among the other cogs in the system. Sadly, with my indefinite musical hiatus, Stagger too has been reduced to a limbo-like status.
Though not performing, new songs are being written and an album is being planned, however details on both subjects are still vague.
In definite Stagger news, we have compiled our only three live performances caught on tape to date and produced a live DVD. The shows include August 2001 at the Splash, December 2001 at the Vineyard, and last year's Punkfest at the University Of South Alabama.
February 19, 2004 — Website Update
Navigation buttons have been added to the site. The website's content seems more lacking than 3 years ago (possibly because there hasn't been anything to be updated in all that time), so a Lyrics page and/or a Links page may be added in the near future.
February 13, 2004 — First full band practice successful
We had the first full band practice tonight at Chris's and it went quite well. Nip's brother, Greezy, came along for the set and helped us learn a cover song. Nip is a phenomenal punk rock drummer and is a valuable asset to the band. Along with the speed and velocity that is customary to the Stagger sound, he adds the previously unfamiliar element of rhythm. Nip is doing a kick-ass job and we're stoked he's playing with us.
Also joining us onstage will be our good friend Brian Roe to perform a song he and Chris wrote called "Livewire" which will be sure to please any G 'N R and Motorhead fans.
Chris is making the transition to guitar with no problem as expected. He has a different playing style that was previously unheard at Stagger shows—one leaning more toward lead than rhythm. Chris makes for a more than worthy successor to our guitar spot and is looking forward to playing up front for a change.
Buzz keeps forgetting the lyrics that he wrote and is having trouble getting back into screaming for 20 minute periods of time. His bass-playing however has noticeably improved.
The practice went over well, we sounded good and had a fun time playing and hanging out with the GHS boys.
January 28, 2004 — Stagger to play Punkfest!
Everyone's favorite Blivit, Nick P, is promoting a punk rock show in the University of South Alabama's ballroom on Friday, March 12, 2004 in good ole' MobTown, AL, USA. The show is being dubbed Punkfest but isn't restricted to just punk rock music. The event also features the (temporary?) reunions of such punk bands from the scene's Commons/Splash/Vineyard days circa 3 years ago as Stagger and The Hooligans.
This go around, Stagger will feature the return of Buzz on bass and vocals with Chris filling in on guitar and backups. Our buddy John (aka The Fabulous Nip) is giving us the honor of filling in our vacant drummer position.
