The Game Zone's Main Page

Jane's Fleet Command is a very intriguing game. It was an experience when I first bought it, and I opened it eagerly to check it out for myself. This game has lots of things that are positives, such as the ability to have a strategic view of the battle field and control almost evey aspect like a real Admiral would. On the other side, there are many negatives too. For example, you cannot customize a fighter's weapons, so, for instance, you couldn't substitute Air-to-Air missles for Anti-Ship missles.

The graphics are the first things that really stand out in this game. The 3-D window and the ability to change how much of it the screen takes up is a great feature. For me, this is the most important aspect of the game. Another plus is that the ships that appear in the game actually exist with those names in real navies worldwide. The ability to be different navies besides the U.S. is another great feature. The one thing that will guarantee constant gameplay of this game is the built-in mission editor, where you can create your own conflicts around the globe. One other negative to this game is the inability to customize your own preferneces as to whether the ships and planes automatically engage incoming hostiles, but I do have a download that will fix some of these problems at the bottom of the page. Finally, the game doesn't have the same mission structure like the Command & Conquer games, which made it a lot simpler and really created a story line to the whole mission/game playing. Overall, this game is definitely worth buying, but in the sequel (if they have one), they should work to allow the planes to have customized payloads and make the missions more related into a story line.
