Dragonball Z: Saiyan Saga (Brief)
The first DBZ saga starts off with a reunion between Goku and some of his old friends. They laugh and chatter, as Goku introduces his young son – Gohan. He seems to be very shy, and everyone thinks that he is cute. Bulma, Krillen and Roshi are all there, having fun catching up on old times.
Elsewhere, Piccolo, a green, pointy-eared alien is training in the desert by himself. He is greeted by a tall, muscular character, whom he attacks upon site. The victim laughs at him though, and prepares to attack back. Piccolo looks on in fear, before a device on the stranger’s eye blinks, making him fly off in the opposite direction, telling Piccolo that he will finish him off later.
Goku and friends are on the island, still talking when the stranger greets them. He reveals himself to be a Saiyan named Raditz, Goku’s brother. He demands that Goku kills a load of Earthlings, but Goku refuses. Raditz then takes his son, and warns him that he will never see him again unless he gives in to his demands. Raditz then knees Goku in the gut, flooring him and leaving him winded badly, then flies off into the distance, carrying Gohan.
Goku remembers the Dragonball that was perched on Gohan’s hat, and gets the dragon radar to track his son down. Before he sets off though, Piccolo joins him, and says that he wants to help. The two put their differences aside, and fly off over to Raditz.
They find him, and attack. Gohan has been locked up in Raditz’ pod, a small spacecraft that he used to reach the planet Earth, from his home planet. The fight is strongly in Raditz’ favour, until he begins treading on Goku. Gohan hears his fathers screams, and explodes out of the pod, headbutting Raditz. This distracts him for long enough. It doesn’t knock him down, and Gohan immediately collapses, but Raditz has been weakened. Goku jumps onto his feet, and grabs his brother in a full nelson. Piccolo then charges up his special beam cannon, and shoots it at Raditz, with the beam going right through him and Goku. Piccolo then tells Goku that he will wish him back with the dragonballs, because of his noble feat. He grabs Gohan, and goes off to train him, just as Krillen arrives. Raditz tells everyone that his Saiyan friends will be along soon to avenge his death, and take the dragonballs, in about a years time. They are 10 times stronger than he is too. Goku fades into the next dimension, and everyone leaves, with Krillen wondering how he is going to break the news to Chi-Chi.
Yamcha, Tien, Chao-zu, Krillen, and Yajirobe, the planets strongest warriors trained with Kami, hoping to become strong enough to combat the Saiyans upon their arrival. Goku is told to run a long, winding road called Snake Way up in heaven, where he will receive martial arts training off the legendary King Kai upon completion of running the road. It is a very long way though, and will take him almost a year to get to the end.
Goku falls off Snake Way, and ends up in HFIL (‘Home For Infinite Losers’, better known as ‘hell’). Two ogres challenge him to a contest, with the prize being a ticket back onto Snake Way. Goku defeats them both, and they show him the way out, which takes the Saiyan back to the start. He must run even quicker now, because he has lost about 1-2 months worth of his journey after that.
Piccolo and Gohan train in the wilderness, hard at work in an effort to become stronger. Piccolo notices Gohan’s tail, and gets a bit of trouble when Gohan sees the full moon, and transforms into an Oozaru (All Saiyans do this, because their tail grants them the power to do so. Gohan is half Saiyan, because he is the son of the Saiyan Goku, and the human Chi-Chi). Piccolo manages to blow up the moon, and doesn’t have any more trouble with Gohan turning into an ape.
Goku reaches the end of Snake Way, and it takes him about three quarters of a year. The first task that he is set by King Kai, is to make the martial arts master laughs. He accomplishes this and goes onto his second mission. This is to catch Bubbles the monkey. The gravity is 20 times what it is on Earth, so Goku has a hard time adapting, and catching King Kai’s pet. He does so eventually though, and moves onto his third assignment – To hit Gregory the super-fast cricket with a huge, heavy mallet. This takes him a while, but he accomplishes it in the end. He is then taught how to do the Spirit Bomb (A powerful energy ball, where the power is gathered from all living things on the planet) and the Kai-o-ken (An attack which allows you to boost your overall battle performance by a set amount)
Goku finally ends his training a day before the Saiyans arrive, and is wished back. King Kai suddenly starts panicking though, and tells Goku that he still has to run Snake Way. It will take him about 2 days, meaning he will probably arrive a day late. The halo disappears from Goku’s head, and he angrily begins running Snake Way again, trying to get to the start as fast as possible, so he can help out his friends.
The Saiyans arrive on Earth, and they immediately go to the two strongest powers – Gohan and Piccolo. The two Saiyans consist of one huge, muscular, bald one named Nappa, and a short, tall haired one called Vegeta. The small one seems to be the more powerful one of the two. Piccolo and Gohan prepare to fight, and are soon joined by Krillen. Nappa plants some seeds, from which sprout little green men. Nappa announces that they all have the same power level as Raditz. Before the fight begins, Yamcha, Tien, and Chao-zu arrive. With everyone there, the battle starts.
The little green men are easily beaten, although one attaches itself to Yamcha, and self-destructs, killing them both. Krillen used an attack, which killed the remaining ones, with his anger giving him extra power. The attack hit the Saiyans too though, and didn’t even leave a mark on them.
Nappa steps forward, and fights the Earthlings. He easily beats them up a bit, taking them one-by-one. He thinks that he has killed Chao-zu, when he realizes that he has attached himself to his back. Nappa desperately grabs for him, but can’t reach. Chao-zu uses a self-destruct attack, but only manages to kill himself, leaving Nappa in perfect condition.
Tien is so angry at his friends death, that he fights Nappa. He is easily defeated though, and dies of exhaustion, using one final attack, but not affecting the awesomely powerful Nappa.
Krillen, Piccolo, and Gohan all team up against the big guy, managing to rough him up a fair bit. After a while, Vegeta grants them a three hour period, where they may wait for Goku. The three hours end, and there is no sign of the Saiyan. Everyone fights Nappa, but in the end they are all destroyed, beaten to a pulp, but not quite killed. Nappa tried to kill Gohan with one powerful blast, but Piccolo dives in the way, sacrificing himself to save his trainee. In the time he spent training Gohan, he became quite attached to him. Piccolo fades away into the next dimension. Nappa goes to kill Gohan again, but this time he is rescued by Goku, who arrived just in time to come to his son’s aid.
Goku easily defeats Nappa, but leaves him alive. Disappointed at the humiliating conquering of his friend, Vegeta helps Nappa up, then tosses him into the air, killing him.
Goku and Vegeta fight on in another location, leaving Gohan and Krillen to go home. Goku eventually gets an advantage when his KameHameHa is more powerful than Vegeta’s Galic Ho beam, sending the evil Saiyan soaring into the air. He recovers though, and commends Goku on his strength. Vegeta then forms a bright ball in his hand, and throws it into the air. He looks up at it, and transforms into a huge Oozaru. The battle momentum shifts, with Vegeta crushing Goku in his fist, almost killing him.
Gohan and Krillen are back, after sensing that something is wrong. They try to cut Oozaru Vegeta’s tail off, but are unsuccessful. They know that without the tail, Vegeta can’t maintain his transformed state. As if from out of no where, Yajirobe bursts forth from out of the shadows, and slices the Oozaru’s tail off. Vegeta is reverted back to his normal state, leaving Goku for dead. Yajirobe hides for the remainder of the battle, scared of what Vegeta will do to him. Vegeta easily beats up everyone, until Gohan gets really mad. The two are almost equal. Goku tells Krillen that he gathered some energy for a Spirit Bomb earlier, but couldn’t throw it. He hands it to his friend, and Krillen throws it at Vegeta. The evil Saiyan sensed it coming though, and easily dodges it. Gohan looks on in fear, but Goku psychically sends him a message to bounce it towards Vegeta, as it wont hurt anyone with no evil in their heart. The kid does so, hitting Vegeta square in the chest. The evil Saiyan drops from the sky a while later, half dead.
Vegeta gets to his feet, and provides everyone with a complimentary beating, hurting them all greatly. Goku sends Gohan a psychic message to look up at the fake moon, that made Vegeta transform earlier. He does so, and transforms himself. He tries to attack Vegeta, but can’t quite connect. Eventually, Vegeta manages to cut the Oozaru’s tail off, but can’t get out of the way as the huge ape falls to the floor. Vegeta is squashed, as Gohan shrinks back to his normal size.
Krillen stands over the evil Saiyan with Yajirobe’s sword, ready to finish him off, until Goku tells him to spare the evil Saiyan. Krillen does so, and Vegeta crawls away, calling his ship over with a remote control, then climbing in. He vows for vengeance, then takes off. Bulma, Roshi, Oolong and Puar then arrive, taking the victors to a hospital. In the whole battle, only Krillen, Gohan, and Goku survived, although Goku barely made it through, such were the extent of his injuries.
And so ends the Saiyan saga, with the menace defeated, and the Earth saved, the Earth’s Special Forces heal patiently in hospital, wondering how they are going to wish their friends back without the Dragonballs (When Piccolo dies, so does Kami, and when Kami dies, so do the Dragonballs. It’s a vicious circle.)
Dragonball Z: Frieza Saga (Brief)
The saga begins with a hospital scene, showing the progress of everyone’s recovery. Mr Popo greets them, and tells everyone that Kami told him that there’s Dragonballs on Namek before he died, and that he knows where a ship is. He takes Bulma with him, so that she can learn how to fly the ship, and take some people to Namek. A while later, Bulma takes off for Namek with Krillen and Gohan (Goku still hasn’t recovered yet). She activates the ship speaking in Namekian. They then take off.
They all go on, and finally find what they think is Namek. It turns out to be a fake one though, an illusion created by some creatures who crashed there a while ago and were unable to repair their ship.
They manage to escape though, and get back on track to the real Namek.
Meanwhile, at one of Frieza’s docking ports, Vegeta is fully recovered, and soaring off towards Namek in one of his pods, after the Dragonballs. He is told that Frieza, the most powerful being in the universe, is already on the planet looking for them.
Bulma, Krillen, and Gohan land on the planet, and immediately set off looking for the Dragonballs.
Vegeta is after the Dragonballs too, and is met by Cui, one of Frieza’s henchmen, who tells Vegeta to leave or die. Vegeta laughs in Cui’s face though, and the two of them fight, with Vegeta easily defeating, and killing his opponent.
Gohan and Krillen sense Frieza’s power for the first time, and they know that it is incredible, much higher than they could ever dream of. They also sense that Frieza has four of the seven Dragonballs already.
Yajirobe walks into Goku’s hospital room, and tosses him a bag of sensu beans. Goku takes one, and is fully recovered. He flies off to Dr. Briefs, where he is given a capsule corporation pod. He then leaves to help his friends on Namek, who have put forth a few distress calls. The ship he is in is much faster than the one that Bulma and company used, so he should be there much faster than they were.
Frieza and his henchmen are destroying a Namekian village and all of its habitants. The village elder notices that they are using the scouters to locate the Dragonballs, and sense the power levels, so he destroys them all, laughing as he does so. Freiza then kills the Namek in a fit of rage, and takes the ball off him, making it number five, with only two more to go. Gohan and Krillen see a big pink alien called Dodoria bullying a small Namekian boy, so they fly in, and save him, managing to escape from all of Frieza’s henchmen.
Dodoria had chased them, and lost them, but noticed Vegeta on his way back. He went down to fight with the Saiyan, and was defeated easily, with Vegeta mercilessly killing him.
Vegeta then goes off and finds another Namekian village, where he savagely kills all the inhabitants, and finds the Dragonball. He learnt to sense KI signatures on Earth, so now there is nothing stopping him from finding the remaining Dragonball.
Krillen and the Namekian kid who they rescued earlier decide to go to the eldest Nameks quarters. The kid, named Dende, says that the eldest Namek, who is called Guru, possesses a Dragonball. Gohan stays with Bulma to protect her. Elsewhere, Vegeta dumps his Dragonball in a lake for safe keeping. He bumps into Krillen and Dende as he goes to leave though, and prepares to fight them, when Frieza’s strongest henchman shows up – Zarbon. He fights Vegeta, with the Saiyan easily roughing him up, until Zarbon transforms into a monster. Krillen and Dende escape while the two warriors are distracted, and they resume their course to Guru’s. Meanwhile, Zarbon has hit Vegeta into a lake, and nearly killed him. Vegeta climbs out though, and Zarbon takes him to Freiza’s ship for questioning. Vegeta is put in a regeneration tank, so that he can be healed, then be interrogated. Vegeta manages to keep down his heart rate though, and manages to escape, stealing all of Frieza’s Dragonballs in the process, giving him six of them.
Krillen and Dende arrive at Guru’s, and are given the final Dragonball. Guru also releases Krillen’s true power. He is much stronger, and they fly back. Vegeta meets them on the way though, and demands that they hand over the Dragonball. They do so, not wanting to get killed, and then Zarbon arrives again, ready to kill Vegeta for escaping and stealing Frieza’s Dragonballs. Krillen and Dende fly off, back to Bulma, leaving the two far superior warriors to fight amongst themselves. Vegeta easily beats Zarbon, because whenever a Saiyan is healed from mortal wounds, they become far stronger. Vegeta kills Zarbon, then goes off with his Dragonball to the other ones, meaning that he will have all seven.
Gohan senses Vegeta’s Dragonball that is hidden in the lake, and goes to get it. He retrieves it, meeting Krillen, Dende, and Bulma. Krillen tells Gohan about Guru, and they both leave for his place. They arrive there a while later, and are greeted by Vegeta outside. Krillen distracts him while Gohan goes into Guru’s. They argue for a while, then Gohan walks out of Guru’s, emitting incredible power. Vegeta is just about to kill them all, when 5 pods crash down a short distance away. Vegeta announces that they must be the Ginyu Force, the five most evil warriors in the galaxy, each with a power level that rivals his own. Vegeta says that he needs to be made immortal in order for them to win, so they all get the Dragonballs, just in case.
The Ginyu Force find everyone, and take the Dragonballs off them using some impressive tricks and speed. Ginyu flies off with them, to take them to Frieza, leaving his men to fight. Guldo is the first up, and he fights Gohan and Krillen. It looks as though he is about to defeat them, when Vegeta interrupts, and kills Guldo with two impressive attacks.
Seeing the death of his team-mate, Racoome steps forward, and is takes on Vegeta, defeating him, but not managing to kill him, due to Krillen and Gohan interfering. Racoome then destroys both of them, and is ready to kill them.
Finally, Goku’s ship arrives on Namek, after he had been training at 100 times the Earths gravity. He soars to the battle, and rescues Gohan, Krillen, and Vegeta from the evil clutches of Racoome. He then beats the member of the Ginyu Force easily, leaving him on the floor, barely alive. Jeice and Burta, the two remaining members attack. Goku easily dodges everything they throw at him, then attacks Burta, easily defeating him. He allows Jeice to go. Vegeta then quickly finishes off Racoome and Burta, after eating a sensu bean, and having his health restored.
Jeice runs off to Ginyu, and the two of them return to attack Goku. Vegeta stays with the Saiyan, whilst Gohan and Krillen go off for the Dragonballs. Before the fight starts though, Vegeta abandons his battle partner to look for the Dragonballs himself. Ginyu and Goku fight for a while, with Goku having the obvious advantage, until Captain Ginyu uses an attack which swaps their bodies, but not before injuring his badly. In his new body, Ginyu flies off, leaving Goku, stuck in Ginyu’s injured body.
Gohan and Krillen are found by Ginyu (In Goku’s body) and Jeice, and are beaten up, until Goku (In Ginyu’s body) arrives, and tells them to attack back. Ginyu fights Gohan and Krillen, beating them somewhat senseless. Vegeta returns, and kills Jeice easily, with his significant power increase after recovering from his injuries. He then goes and beats up Ginyu, in Goku’s body, knowing that Ginyu is unable to utilize the full extent of Goku’s power. Vegeta is about to finish Ginyu off, when the Body change technique is used. Goku predicts this, and dives in the path of the attack, making him return into his old body, and leaving Captain Ginyu in his old, injured body. Goku is too hurt to move, and Vegeta fights Ginyu, with the Captain letting him win. Ginyu goes for another Body Change with Vegeta, but Goku sees it coming, and throws a frog into its path. Ginyu then turns into a frog.
Ginyu’s life is spared, as he can cause no more trouble, and Vegeta takes Goku to a regeneration tank, and has a short sleep. In that time, Gohan, Krillen, and Dende find the Dragonballs, then wish back Piccolo. Their second wish is for Piccolo to be transported to Namek. It seems that it has worked, but he is no where near them. Before their final wish can be made, Vegeta bursts out of the medical bay, and finds the dragon. He demands that they ask for Vegeta to be given immortality, and as the dragon only grants wishes when asked in Namekian, Dende must ask. Eventually Krillen gives the go ahead for it to happen, as they have no chance against Frieza otherwise. Before the wish can be made though, the dragon disappears, signalling the death of its creator – Guru, due to a broken heart. Frieza then arrives, and intimidates everyone.
Vegeta manages to equal the first form Frieza in terms of power, but when Frieza transforms, it looks like everything is over, until Piccolo arrives on the scene. He had found a Namek called Nail on the way, and fused with him, becoming far more powerful than before. He manages to beat Frieza, making him transform once again. In his third form, Frieza easily beats up Piccolo, angering Gohan so much that he launches a huge masenko at the evil tyrant, coming close to killing him. Frieza manages to block the blast, although barely, and decides to transform again, this time into his final form. Once he accomplishes this, he kills Dende, the healing Namek, but not before everyone’s health is rejuvenated. He then kills Vegeta, and the Saiyan prince thought that he was a Super Saiyan. Before Frieza kills anyone else though, Goku arrives on the scene.
It is an even fight between Goku and Frieza, until Frieza decides to go from 1% of his power, to 50%, giving him a distinct advantage. Despite this though, Goku manages to build up a truly huge galaxy Spirit Bomb, with the help of Piccolo’s distraction tactics. He then threw it at Frieza, seemingly killing him. Somehow, Frieza survived it, and shot a beam at Goku, with Piccolo diving in the way to save him, and becoming injured badly. Frieza then kills Krillen for no reason, causing Goku to be overtaken with anger. His hair turns blonde, and his eyes turn green, as he finally becomes a Super Saiyan. He beats Frieza to a pulp, before the evil one tries to destroy the planet. He holds too much energy back though and was unable to destroy it outright, and says that there will be five minutes until it explodes. He then uses 100% of his power, and the fight becomes fairly even. Goku manages to gain an advantage though, and easily defeats everyone.
On Earth, the dragonballs are used to resurrect everyone killed by Frieza. This brung back the Namek Dragonballs, and with them, they wished everyone back to Earth, other than Goku and Frieza.
Goku managed to defeat Frieza, and tried to leave, but the evil one threw two cutting discs at him. It resulted in Frieza being cut in half by his own attack. Goku gave him enough energy to leave the planet, but Frieza used it to try and kill Goku. It didn’t work though, as the Saiyan sent a counterblast, hitting Frieza, and seemingly killing him once and for all. He then tries to escape the planet, but it explodes before he can find a functioning ship…or so it seemed.
Dragonball Z: Android Saga (Brief)
After a period of 3 years, Trunk’s fateful prophecy regarding the arrival of monstrous Androids has finally come to pass. Two ruthless Androids, namely Androids 19 and 20, have come forth and are destroying everything in sight. As Earth’s Special Forces comb the city looking for the source of the mayhem, Yamcha is the first to sight them and pays a heavy price as Android 20 strikes him with a horrendous blow. Goku and the others arrive just in time to save their fallen friend, and as Krillen hauls Yamcha to safety, Goku squares off to fight Android 19.
Goku appears to be making short work out of Android 19, as he hits the maniacal monster with a flurry of blows. But strangely enough, Goku’s power is fading, and Android 19 appears unimpaired. It seems Goku has fallen prey to the vicious attack of the heart virus as Trunks predicted. Surprisingly, before Android 19 can finish off Goku, the Super Saiyan is rescued by none other than Vegeta!
Vegeta launches into Android 19 with a merciless assault, and quickly puts an end to the robotic menace. Android 20, realizing the danger he’s up against, flees the scene. While in pursuit, Earth’s heroes make a shocking discovery……..Android 20 is Dr. Gero, the evil scientist. A frantic race ensues. Android 20 speeds to his lab where he will activate his killer robots, being pursued by Earth’s forces intent on stopping him.
Dr. Gero eludes the Earth’s forces, and arrives back at his laboratory before the heroes can reach him. All hope appears lost as the worst fears are realised…….Android 17 and Android 18 are brought back to life! Dr. Gero appears to finally be achieving his dream of conquering the world. But all that abruptly changes as Android 17 and Android 18 rebel against Dr. Gero and destroy him.
Battling the Androids seems hopeless as Earth’s forces prove no match for their power. But desperate times call for desperate measures. Piccolo, in a brazen move, approaches Kami with a proposal that they unite to form a Super Namek! Meanwhile the Androids make a joy ride of destruction as they head to their new destination……..Goku’s house! The Androids plan to strike Goku while he’s down. While Goku has moved to avoid the Androids, Bulma makes another startling discovery. There is a second Time Capsule……..identical to the Capsule Trunks uses!
Dragonball Z: Cell Saga (Brief)
As Trunks, Krillen and Bulma search the strange wreckage of the second time capsule they discover the eerie shell of large, locust-like creature. Whatever was in the capsule is obviously something like they’ve never seen before. Meanwhile, in the quiet metropolis of Gingertown, an evil such as the world has never seen has arrived. In the wake of this mysterious insect-looking monster, a haunting silence is all that remains of the townspeople.
Piccolo, realizing the severity of the danger, convinces Kami of the need to combine their forces. Irreversibly uniting together, the two fuse into one being…….a Super Namek! But by doing so, the Earth’s Dragon Balls are gone forever.
Piccolo, now strengthened by his fusion with Kami, confronts the hideous beast in Gingertown and discovers his horrible secret. This beast viciously sucks the life force from humans, using their energy to fuel his own being! The monster is known as Cell, and is the Ultimate evil creation of Dr. Gero. Created through synthesizing cells, from all the great fighters into a single computer-enhanced android he has the strength and abilities of all the great fighters including Goku, Frieza, Vegeta, Gohan and many others.
In their conflict, Cell destroys entire armies without effort, and manages to severely injure Piccolo’s arm. But Piccolo is a Namek, and cleverly stalls Cell long enough to regenerate his arm. As Krillen and Trunks arrive to back Piccolo up in battle, Cell decides to withdraw for the moment and pursue his primary goal…..to absorb Androids 17 and 18!
While Cell has the power and abilities of all of the great fighters, his Ultimate form will not be available until he can absorb Androids 17 and 18. In doing this he will truly be without equal. For this reason he must find Androids 17 and 18. The two Androids, traveling along with Android 16, are intent on destroying Goku as they were programmed to do. But now Goku is back on his feet he comes up with a clever plan of his own. To save the world he, Gohan, Trunks and Vegeta will go to Kami’s lookout. There is a room there known as the Hyperbolic Time Chamber where time bends, allowing a year’s worth of training in only a day.
As the Androids arrive looking for Goku, it is up to Piccolo, the Super Namek, to hold them at bay. And it appears his newly acquired skills will be enough to do so. But just as he seems capable of bringing the menacing duo down a new peril appears on the battlefield. It’s Cell! With Earth’s greatest hope still training, Piccolo makes the decision to stop Cell from fulfilling his evil plan. But even Piccolo can’t stop this creature. It appears all hope is lost when an unlikely ally arrives…..
The silent giant, Android 16, boldly walks onto the battlefield and makes a bold claim He is just as strong as Cell! And in an instant it appears he’s telling the truth, as he pelts Cell with a blur of intense blows. But Cell is devious, and through some crafty trickery manages to sneak up on the unsuspecting Android 17 and absorb him. Now Cell is transformed and the tables have turned.
Android 16 grabs Android 18 and flies away, as fast as he can, but apparently it's not fast enough. Cell steps in front of the two fleeing androids and blasts Android 16 in the head, tearing a part of it off. As Android 18 frantically threatens to destroy herself, Tien steps into the battle.
The first blast hits Cell and drives him into the Earth. Tien tells the Androids to get away, and continues to use his Kikoho attack on the monster. Since the area of affect is quite large, Cell is unable to escape the hole in the ground Tien has confined him to. However, this was taking a massive toll on his body, and he couldn't keep it up for long. With the last of his energy gone, Tien's unconscious body drifts to the ground. Cell gets ready to evaporate his body for letting the androids get away, but Goku teleports in. He tells Cell that in one day he will be ready to defeat him. Goku senses Piccolo's ki, and realizes that he's alive (but barely). He teleports to his body, then transports both fallen warriors to Kami's palace just before Cell can get a hit on Goku.
Krillen and Bulma finally reach each other, and she gives him the device to destroy the androids. Cell begins his search for Android 18, who is hiding with Android 16 on an island. Vegeta and Trunks finally emerge, and inform the others that they have both surpassed Super Saiyan. Trunks and Vegeta then rush to find Cell. Cell is becoming increasingly frustrated with being unable to locate Android 18. He threatens to destroy each and every island until Android 18 comes out, and begins to do so. With the room of spirit and time now vacant, Goku and Gohan begin their "year" of training.
Cell continues to obliterate island after island until only one is left. He charges a large energy attack, but Vegeta interrupts him. To his surprise, Vegeta has suddenly become a lot stronger. He shows Cell what is beyond Super Saiyan, and Cell does not like it one bit. After taking blow after blow, Cell is powerless to stop the onslaught. Cell begins to whine about not being complete, as he was nowhere near Vegeta’s new power level..
Meanwhile, Krillen had arrived on the island, and was searching for Android 18 to deactivate her. After finding her, the emotional hero begins to have second thoughts about destroying the woman who gave him a peck on the cheek earlier. Cell desperately tries to convince Vegeta that he will be a challenge if he becomes perfect. Luckily for him, it works. Vegeta lets Cell search for Android 18, but Trunks stands in the way. He refuses to let Vegeta's pride endanger the lives of the people of Earth. Krillen finally makes a decision, and walks into Android 18's field of view, and smashes the controller. The Androids are very surprised by Krillen's action. While father and son are bickering, Cell spots Android 18.
As Cell swoops down towards them, Trunks once again blocks his path. Trunks begins to beat Cell up a bit. Cell then retreats to hiding, and sneaks up on Android 18. Trunks tries to prevent Cell from devouring her with his tail. However, Vegeta wants to see Cell reach perfection, and pushes his own son away. Android 16 and Krillen try to interfere, but are easily dispatched. In his desperation, Trunks launches an energy ball at Vegeta, and blasts him far from the battle scene. Cell makes more advances on Android 18, but yet again Trunks kicks him away. Frustrated by all the interference, Cell uses a Taiyoken on the Z warriors. With everyone blinded, he quickly absorbs Android 18. Cell begins his transformation to perfection.
Cell finally completes his transformation. In the room of spirit and time, Goku and Gohan are still busily training. When Goku finally goes all out on Gohan, his son finally reaches Super Saiyan. Back on the ground, Cell is admiring his new body...so much that he just ignores Krillen and Trunks who are busy trying to kill him with a flurry of attacks. Krillen forms a Kienzan, and chucks it at Cell. To his surprise, the attack bounces right off him. Cell smashes his body in response, but Trunks aids him with a Senzu almost immediately. Vegeta flies down to challenge this new Cell, and seems fairly even with him in power at the beginning.
His confidence slowly fades as he realizes he's not putting a dent in Cell. Vegeta is kicked around a bit, and becomes severely frustrated. He flies into the air and challenges Cell to take his energy attack head on. Cell stubbornly obliges. Vegeta's Final Flash packs a huge punch, and disintegrates Cell's right arm and shoulder. But thanks to Cell's regenerative capabilities, he just grows a new one in its place. He quickly knocks Vegeta unconscious, and is about to kill him...until he notices Trunks is charging up a massive amount of energy.
Trunks and Cell begin to do battle, and it looks like Cell has the upper hand. As Trunks lies on the ground from one of Cell's hits, he looks at Krillen and points at Vegeta's body. Krillen realizes that Trunks was letting himself get attacked on purpose so that Vegeta would not be harmed. As he flies away with Vegeta, Cell tells Trunks to fight all-out. The warriors exchange more attacks, this time not holding back. Trunks powers up a huge amount, and grows tremendously strong. Cell admits that Trunks has much higher power level than he does, but the Saiyan had no chance of defeating him.
After finding out that it was impossible to defeat Cell, Trunks orders Cell to finish him off. Cell however has a different objective. He decides to host a martial arts tournament. He tells the Z warriors that it will be held in 10 days, and that if anyone can kill him, the Earth will not be destroyed. When asked what his goal is, Cell informs them that he has none. He just fights for the fun of it, and is not interested in world conquest or killing Son Goku.
This summary is entirely based on the manga, which was the original version, so don’t be surprised if there is the occasional shortened fight, etc.
It starts off with all the old characters being introduced, 7 years on from the Cell Game. Gohan is a lot older now, and Trunks is grown up and a Super Saiyan. A kid called Goten is there too, another Super Saiyan, this time the son of Goku. As they prepare for the martial arts tournament, they are told that Goku is entering it, being granted one day from the afterlife by Baba.
The martial arts tournament begins, and it appears that it is going to go relatively well, until the world champions daughter Videl fights a previously only average fighter with a strange ‘M’ implanted onto his head, and gets destroyed.
Gohan has this guy next, and with hatred in his heart for what he did to Videl, he charged up ready to inflict some damage, only to be tricked into going up to SSJ2. All of his energy was then sucked out of him by a weird machines carried by the people with the ‘M’s on this head. Gohan goes down, and is healed by a man called Kaioshin, one of the highest ranked Gods. Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Kaioshin, Piccolo, and later Goten and Trunks follow the weird, yet strangely powerful people who stole Gohan’s energy, and reach a spacepod owned by the evil magician Badibi.
Whilst there, they are forced to fight three people, with Vegeta easily killing the first, and Goku easily beating the second, but when Gohan fights the third, the strongest man in the evil universe – Dabura, he is slightly winning, but the devil walks off, saying that he has discovered something important for Badibi.
Dabura returns to the evil magician and says that one of them has evil in their hearts, referring to Vegeta. Badibi then agrees, and says that he can turn him into a Majin, just like the other two fighters were, making them far stronger. He says that once this is done then they will finally have enough energy to deal with Buu.
Badibi attempts to turn Vegeta into a Majin, and because of the evil in his heart it is accomplished, with Vegeta suddenly becoming evil, and baring that strange ‘M’ on his head. He and Goku go off to fight, with the Saiyan prince being ruthless, and not listening to anything that is said. Every bit of damage done to Goku is energy that Badibi can steal in order to wake up Buu from his previous eternal slumber. The two fighters are about equal for a long period of time, until they sense that Buu has finally been awakened. Goku suggests that they stop their fighting and find out what the source of the power is, with Vegeta agreeing, then attacking Goku when is guard is down and knocking him out.
Meanwhile Gohan is fighting Buu, and is destroyed, with everyone thinking he is dead, but he is later saved them bought to a planet in the afterlife for a special power up.
Trunks and Goten then arrive with Piccolo, and Vegeta knocks both of them out in one punch, then asks Piccolo to take them away, as there is something that he has to do. He has finally decided to fight for someone other than himself, and knows that he has screwed everything up, so wants to make up for it. He flies off to where Buu’s KI is, and fights him, resulting in him self-destructing, sacrificing his life to kill Buu. Unfortunately Buu manages to regenerate though, and under Badibi’s evil influence, he begins destroying everything, purely because Badibi is threatening to return him to his prison, trapped inside it forever. At this time Goku arrives after regaining consciousness, thinking that Buu has killed everyone, and powering up to super Saiyan stage 3, a form that is very tiring and uses great deal of energy. He seems to match Buu, but has a plan, teleporting off to Kami’s lookout.
Eventually, Badibi is killed by Buu, as the evil fiend gets tired of his name-calling. Mr Satan is sent to fight Buu, but of course cowers away and tries to be his friend instead, discovering that Buu isn’t really that bad, and asking him not to kill people, with the supposedly evil fiend deciding on not hurting anyone else because Mr Satan said. Satan had a dog follow him, and Buu became quite attached to it, until it was shot, along with Satan. Buu managed to heal them, but became so angry that he released a skinny, evil version of himself, which defeated him in battle and absorbed him, becoming Buu in an extremely powerful form.
Goku teaches the kids who to use fusion, but it takes them a while to master it. He is then taken back to the afterlife by Baba, because him turning SS3 used a lot of energy, cutting his time short. Whilst in the afterlife, he senses Gohan, and goes over to him, seeing that he is being powered up by a very old Kaioshin.
Buu immediately teleported to Kami’s lookout, where he challenged Goten and Trunks, who were in the room of spirit and time practicing the fusion that Goku had just taught them. Buu kills all humans on Earth with one attack, then demands that Piccolo leads him to the kids. Walking slowly, Piccolo stalls as much as possible before finally entering the room. Goten and Trunks fuse then go up to SS3, beating up Buu slightly. It ended in them losing badly though, with Buu turning everyone to chocolate and eating them, except Gotenks, and Piccolo, whom he doesn’t waste his time fighting. Just then Gohan arrives, fully powered up, and battles with Buu for a while, with an advantage. Realizing he can’t win, Buu runs off, and later comes back and absorbs Piccolo and Gotenks from behind their backs, making him stronger than Gohan.
Back in heaven, the old Kaioshin gave Goku his life, and then a pair of Potara earrings which he could use to fuse with a powerful fighter, with it ending in a permanent fusion. Goku takes them gratefully, and teleports down to help Gohan. He tosses him an earring, but Gohan misses it and it falls to the floor. Goku zooms down and retrieves it, but by that time Buu had launched another sneak attack and absorbed Gohan. Goku knew he didn’t have a chance, until he sensed Vegeta’s KI, teleporting to him. Vegeta explained that the demon lord had allowed him back for a while so he could save Earth. Goku gave him the earring, and Vegeta eventually decided to fuse, with them turning into Vegetto, and powering up to SS. After a short fight, Vegetto destroys Buu, then lets himself get absorbed in order to save everyone else. Whilst inside Buu, they cut everyone down from weird casings, and somehow unfuse. They even find the first, original Buu, and cut him down. Buu’s body went through a strange change, and Vegeta and Goku quickly left with everyone except for the original Buu, waiting for the change to happen, and with it eventually leading to Buu to turn into his ultimate form, a small evil, destructive fiend, who doesn’t even have control over his evil self.
Buu immediately blows up the Earth, with Goku only managing to save himself, Vegeta, Satan, and Dende by teleporting away to the old Kaioshin’s planet in the afterlife. Buu soon follows, and Vegeta and Goku decide to finish it, with Goku going first, and powering up to SS3 straight away. He fights with Buu and they are about equal, but Goku can’t finish him off. He then tells Vegeta that he needs to get to full power to win, so Vegeta turns SS and fights Buu, getting pulverised. Goku’s plan doesn’t work though, and instead of gaining energy, he loses it, and is stuck in his normal form, leaving Vegeta on the floor hurt badly, and him vulnerable.
Satan throws a stone at Buu, but it only makes the evil one try and attack him but fail. He then spits out the original Buu, allowing him to attack Satan. The original Buu, we’ll call him fat Buu, then sees his friend hurt, and attacks Buu. They fight with an obvious winner.
Vegeta gets in contact with the Nameks, and gets them to wish for the Earth, and all good people on it to be restored. The third wish is left for the time being. Vegeta then contacted everyone on Earth via King Kai, and asked them to hold their arms in the air to help Goku draw power, but they wouldn’t do it. Goku then realizes the plan, and begins preparing a Spirit Bomb. Goku then tries asking them, but it doesn’t work. Hearing what is going on, Mr Satan appeals to them, and of course they all oblige. Goku then gains enough energy, and throws it at Buu. He doesn’t have enough power left to finish it off though, until Vegeta asks that they wish for the Saiyans power to be restored, allowing him to finish Buu off.
A few years pass, and it’s the martial arts tournament. Fat Buu and Satan are good friends, and Goku is expecting someone to be there with power that rivals his own. The announcers says that Uubu is next, and Goku asks fat Buu to make him face him. The Boudoukai starts, and Pan (Goku’s grandchild) manages to beat a huge, muscular guy. Goku then faces his opponent, and realizes he is a great fighter, and that he is a good incarnation of Buu in his ultimate form. He then flies off with him to give him some training so they can fight properly. Vegeta watches them leave, annoyed that he didn’t get his fight with Goku.
And so Dragonball Z ends – Krillen got his girl #18, they had a daughter, Videl and Gohan married and had a daughter called Pan, and everyone lived happily ever after.
