The Rock, Part 3

WWF LEGENDS

The Rock kicked off the first Raw is War of the millennium and challenged Triple H to pay for his sins. Triple H then entered with Stephanie and after some insults he put the Rock in a handicap match against the rest of the Degeneration X members, and if the Rock lost he would be fired. Degeneration X then attacked and laid out the Rock. The Rock got some revenge as he attacked Degeneration X before their match. In the match DX was of course dominating, the Great One had his moments, but Degeneration X stopped him time and time again. Suddenly Mick Foley showed up and whacked every member of Degeneration X with a chair - the Rock then won the match with the Rock Bottom on Bad Ass.

At Smackdown, the Rock took on the Olympic Hero - Kurt Angle. Before the match the two got into a confrontation on the microphone, where the Great One used his usual insults to get Angle angry. The match was good, but Steve Blackman made his way down with a kendo stick, but the Rock got it away from him and blasted both Blackman and Angle - and thereby got himself disqualified. The Great One then planted Angle with the Rock Bottom and later the People's Elbow.

At Raw is War, January 10, the entire locker room of the WWF surrounded the ring and the Rock got in the ring and called out Triple H and Stephanie, and the two made their way out. The Great One stated that Mick Foley should be reinstated if not, the entire roster would walk out. Triple H granted the Rock's wish. The Rock then stated that there would be no more matches with special stipulations, nor would there ever be fired a wrestler unless there was justice to do it, Triple H and Stephanie had to agree. Mankind then made his return, who condemned Triple H and Stephanie for mocking him and his family. Foley then suggested that he and Triple H would clash at the Royal Rumble for the WWF World Title, Triple H had to agree or the roster would walk away, Foley then stated that the match would have a couple of special stipulations, which would be added later. The Rock then put himself in the battle royal and promised to win it. Mick and the Rock then booked a couple of matches including Triple H vs. X-Pac, and Degeneration X against the Acolytes and the Rock 'n' Sock Connection.

During the eight man tag team match it was obvious that there were problems in DX, and it became apparent when none of the members wanted to tag in, when Mankind was laying a beating on Triple H, instead they left the ring, this got the Rock and the Acolytes to run after them and a huge brawl erupted. Meanwhile Triple H and Mankind continued their battle and Degeneration X were crowned the winners, after Triple H used a foreign object on Mankind.

At Smackdown, Triple H booked a match pitting himself and X-Pac against the Rock and the Big Show. Before the match both the Rock and the Big Show were interviewed and it became clear that the two didn't like each other one bit. It also showed during the match, the Big Show wouldn't tag in the Rock, so he tagged himself in. When the Rock needed to tag to the Big Show, he got off the apron, so the Rock couldn't tag him. Triple H then nailed the Rock with the Pedigree and took the win. After the match the Big Show got in the ring and slammed the Rock to the mat with the Showstopper.

At Raw is War, the Rock came to help Cactus Jack from a beating from Degeneration X, but the Big Show also came to the ring and hammered on him. The Rock and the Big Show were later booked to take on the New Age Outlaws in a tag team match. The Rock later called the Big Show a monkey crap, and stated that he didn't need him. Cactus Jack then tried to convince both the Rock and the Big Show that they could coexist and work together. As soon as the Rock and the Big Show had made it to the ring, the two started fighting. The New Age Outlaws then attacked the Rock and started working on him in the ring, mean while the Big Show stood outside the ring and just looked on and beat up on the Rock, whenever he was thrown out of the ring. Eventually the Big Show got in the ring and started to beat up the Outlaws, the Rock then made it inside the ring and used a steel chair to knock out the behemoth, who then got pinned by Mr. Ass.

At Smackdown, the Big Show stated that he really hated the Rock, he also talked trash about the fans, and stated that he was going to win the Royal Rumble. The Rock then made his way out and he used his usual catchphrases to get to the head of the Big Show. The Rock then stated that the two could get it on right now, but then Kane and Tori entered. Tori stated that Kane would win the Royal Rumble. Triple H and Stephanie then entered the arena and booked a match pitting the three against each other in a Triple Threat over the Top Rope LumberJack Match. As the Rock was about to talk trash to Triple H, the Big Show attacked the Great One, Kane also got involved, but the Rock used a steel chair to take both of his opponents out. The match was wild as two guys teamed up to take out the third. The Rock was the first eliminated by the Big Show, but the Big Show taunted the Rock, which made him come back into the ring and plant him with the Rock Bottom. Kane then threw the Rock over the top rope, and the Big Show soon followed.

At the Royal Rumble, the Rock didn't worried about the 29 other superstars, whom he would face in the ring, all he cared about was tearing into the Big Show and win the battle royal. In the battle royal it came down to the Big Show, Kane, X-Pac, and the Rock. Kane was the first one and X-Pac soon followed, when the Big Show threw him out. The Rock shortly after delivered the People's Elbow to the Big Show and went to eliminate him, but the Big Show stopped him with the Showstopper. The Big Show then wanted to throw out the Rock, but ended up going over the top rope himself, so the Rock won the match. As the Rock was celebrating in the Rock, the Big Show returned and ousted the Great One from the ring.

The next night at Raw is War, the Big Show was bitching about the Royal Rumble to Triple H, this brought out the Rock who then tore into the two with his usual antics on the microphone. Triple H then decided that he would team up with the Big Show to take on the Rock later in the show, and if he could find a partner, he was more than welcome. The Rock didn't want a partner as he stated he could handle himself. But Rikishi Phatu came down to the ring. It was a back and forth match, but as the Rock was going to deliver the Rock Bottom to the Big Show, Triple H delivered a low blow. The New Age Outlaws then attacked Rikishi and the referee disqualified Triple H and the Big Show. The two heels continued to beat on the Rock, but then Cactus Jack came to the ring with a two by four and whacked the Big Show. Together with the Rock, Jack ousted the Big Show from the ring.

At Smackdown, Triple H booked a match, which pitted the Rock against his tag team partner from Raw is War, Rikishi Phatu, against each other. The match itself featured both men hitting their trademark maneuvers, but neither was able to get the pinfall. Rikishi hit the Banzai Drop, when the Big Show hit the ring and screamed at the Rock "now you’re min". The Big Show then hit the Showstopper, meanwhile Triple H came to the ring and hit the Pedigree on Rikishi. Too Cool came to the rescue of their friend, but Triple H and the Big Show easily handled the two youngsters.

After the Big Show had won a match at Raw is War, the Rock showed up at the Titantron and stated that the Big Show was no longer a longhaired piece of monkey crap, but rather a short haired piece of monkey crap, since he got a haircut. The Rock then talked about the eye witness regarding the Royal Rumble incident, which the Big Show had, the Rock was tired of hearing the Big Show bitch and cry about it. The Great One then tangled with Kurt Angle in a good match. During the match Angle wanted to run away, but Tazz showed up and threw him back to the Rock, who then finished off Kurt.

At Smackdown, the Big Show showed Triple H a video from the Royal Rumble, which proved that the Rock’s feet had touched the floor first, so the Game granted the Big Show a match against the Rock, at No Way Out to determine, who would go on to WrestleMania. The Rock wasn’t happy about the decision, but he was sure that he was going to win. Later the Rock took on Tazz and Kurt Angle in a Triple Threat Match. The match of course featured plenty of broken up pin attempts, but the Rock proved to be the best man, he had planted both Tazz and Angle with Rock Bottoms, but the Big Show came to the ring and pulled out the Rock and delivered Showstopper. The Rock however paid the Big Show back, when he came to the ring, when the Big Show was beating up on Rikishi and Too Cool. The Rock used a steel chair on the Big Show and proceeded to deliver the Rock Bottom. The Rock continued to beat up on the Big Show, until officials stopped him.

At Raw is War, Cactus Jack was scheduled to go up against Triple H, X-Pac, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, and Perry Saturn. Jack was welcome to gather some teammates, but no one seemed eager, but the Rock volunteered. When it was time for the match Cactus Jack and the Rock were followed by Rikishi and Too Cool. It was a huge brawl, which of course ended when all the wrestlers got in the ring, but Triple H nailed the Pedigree on Grandmaster Sexay, and Benoit finished him off with the Swan Dive Headbutt. After the match the New Age Outlaws came to the ring and joined in on the beating, but then the lights went out and Paul Bearer returned with Kane, who cleared the ring.

At Smackdown, February 10, Cactus Jack and the Rock took on the New Age Outlaws. A back and forth match, which ended when Jack knocked the Road Dogg out with a lead pipe and then hammered him to the mat with a piledriver.

At Raw is War, Triple H booked some matches, including the Rock against Chris Benoit. Shortly after the Rock, Kane, Too Cool, and Rikishi hit the ring and cleared if off the heels. Benoit was accompanied to the ring by Eddy Guerrero, who interfered in the match, but the Rock paid him back with interests. Chris and the Rock delivered a good match, which contained the usual back and forth action. While fighting on the outside, the Big Show made it to the ring and hit the Rock, Benoit then pinned the Rock after a belly to back suplex. The Rock then went after the Big Show, but Benoit and Guerrero attacked the Rock. The Big Show then brought the Rock to the ring, where he planted him with a showstopper, and Benoit delivered the Swan Dive Headbutt to the Rock. Later the Big Show and Triple H took on Kane in a handicap match. the Rock came to the ring, but the Big Show stopped him with a Showstopper. Triple H, the Big Show, and X-Pac then worked over Kane and the Rock, until Cactus Jack made his entrance, and immediately Jack and the Game got it on. Meanwhile the Rock whacked the Big Show with a chair, Kane followed up with a chokeslam to get the victory. Triple H and the Big Show then double teamed the Rock, but Cactus Jack used a huge wrench on both of them to chase them from the ring.

At Smackdown, Triple H decided to team the Rock with the Big Show to take on the New Age Outlaws. The Rock stated that he didn’t need the Big Show, he had his tag team partner in the shape of the people. The Big Show didn’t turn up at the start of the match, but just as the Rock was on the way to win the match, the Big Show’s music hit the speakers. The Rock and the Big Show then started brawling, and the New Age Outlaws joined in. The Big Show then carried the Rock to the back, together with Degeneration X he tried to stuff the Rock inside a bus, but the Rock fought back with a two by four as the show went off the air.

As usual Triple H and the rest of Degeneration X kicked off Raw is War with the microphones, but this Triple H was stopped by the Rock, who later was seconded by Cactus Jack and Kane, who challenged Triple H to a six man tag team match. The faces then stormed the ring, but the Big Show came down with a chair and took out Kane and the Rock, while Triple H delivered the Pedigree to Cactus Jack. Later in the show Triple H teamed up with X-Pac and the Big Show to take on the Rock, Cactus Jack, and Kane. The match went back and forth and contained the use of the ring bell, a chair, and a fire extinguisher. It was the fire extinguisher, which proved fatal for the match, as Triple H nailed Jack with it to score the pin.

The Rock and Y2J teamed up at Smackdown, February 24 to take on the Big Show and Kurt Angle. It was a relatively short match, which ended, when Chyna nailed the Big Show with a chair, to cause the disqualification. Jericho and Angle continued to brawl in the ring - while the Rock and the Big Show battled to the back, where the Big Show threw the Rock through a glass plate as the show went off the air.

The Big Show and the Rock clashed at No Way Out to determine, who would go onto WrestleMania and face the WWF World Champion. The Rock used his quickness to gain the early advantage, but shortly after the Big Show was in control. The Big Show wasn’t pleased with the performance of the referee, as he yelled at him after each two count. Wight then got a hold of a chair, which he wanted to use to take out his frustration, but the Rock countered with some punches. After the referee went down the Big Show hit the Showstopper, but as a second referee came down to do the count, the first one pulled him out of the ring. The Rock used the episode to regroup and plant the Big Show with the Rock Bottom and went for the Peoples Elbow, but a returning Shane McMahon belted him with a chair. Shane then counted the pin and the Big Show was declared the victor.

The next night at Raw is War, Triple H of course gloated after his victory at No Way Out. Suddenly Shane McMahon's music hit the speakers and Shane and the Big Show made their ways out. Shane then stated that he had aligned himself with the Big Show, since he was a future WWF World Champion. Then the Rock made his way out and stated that the four people in the ring were the biggest group of assholes standing in the ring, he then stated he would go on to WrestleMania and become WWF World Champion. Triple H then responded by booking the Rock in a match against the Brooklyn Brawler and stated that the Rock wouldn't go onto WrestleMania. The Rock made short work of the Brooklyn Brawler and then called out Triple H. The Game and also the Big Show, Shane and Stephanie made their ways out. Triple H then stated that if the Rock could pin either himself or the Big Show in a handicap match, the Rock would be onto WrestleMania. In the handicap match Triple H and the Big Show of course dominated the Rock, but the Rock was close to make the upset, when he hit the Peoples Elbow on Triple H, but Shane McMahon interrupted the count and caused the disqualification. Triple H, the Big Show, and Shane then beat up the Rock.

At Smackdown, March 2, the Rock challenged the Big Show and Shane McMahon to a handicap match, since he had enough of their crap – the match was accepted. But then Rikishi made his way out and stated that he would be the Great One’s tag team partner. When it was time for the match, Shane was replaced by Triple H. The match was pretty wild, the Big Show used a steel chair on Rikishi and continued to work on the sumo wrestler. As the Big Show went to nail the Rock with the chair, he accidentally took out Triple H, whom was then pinned by the Rock after the People’s Elbow.

The Rock interfered during a contest between the Big Show and Kane at Raw is War, March 6, when he stormed to the ring and planted the Big Show with the Rock Bottom. But the Rock wasn't finished with running interference, he also did it in a match pitting Triple H against Rikishi - again the Great One hit the ring and planted Triple H with the Rock Bottom. For his actions the Rock was booked to take on Chris Benoit in a cage match, which didn't bother the Rock since he loved the steel cage. It was an excellent match, during which the Big Show and Triple H came to ringside. One of the best spots in the match was when Benoit was thrown from the top rope halfway across the ring. The two battled on and the Rock hit the Rock Bottom, but was to tired to gain the advantage. But the Rock eventually was on the top of the cage, but Triple H tried to stop him, but the Rock pounded on him, so Triple H fell right on the Big Show, so the Rock escaped the cage and won the match. After the match Triple H and the Big Show teamed up to beat on the Rock, but Triple H accidentally nailed the Big Show with a chair, when he tried to hit the Rock. The Great One then took care of Triple H and left the ring.

The Rock was at a clear disadvantage at Smackdown, when he was put in a handicap match against Chris Benoit and Saturn. After insulting both Benoit and Saturn, the Rock took them to school, after dodging a kick from Saturn, which instead hit Benoit, the Rock took the win with the Rock Bottom. Stephanie, who had promised the Rock a surprise, revealed that the Great One would face the Dudley Boyz in a handicap tables match. The Rock had a tough fight against the reigning WWF Tag Team Champions, but proved his worth by putting Buh Buh Ray Dudley through a table. The Great One then went after D-Von, but Buh Buh Ray was still in the match, so he stopped the Rock from winning the match. Instead the Dudley Boyz won the match after a Dudley Death Drop through a table. The Rock was in pain after the match and held on to his ribs, but he refused medical attention. Later the Rock though was being attended to by EMT's. The Rock however ran to the ring after the Big Show and Triple H had defeated Rikishi in a handicap match. The Great One took out the Big Show with a blow from a lead pipe, but when he was going to plant the Game with a Rock Bottom, Shane McMahon used the lead pipe on the Rock's sore ribs. Triple H and the Big Show then teamed up and started beating on the Rock.

At Raw is War, March 13, Triple H, Stephanie and Shane and the Big Show made fun of the Rock. The Great One then hit the arena and stated that he had enough of the humiliation and wanted a match against the Big Show, where the Rock would go on to WrestleMania and face Triple H, otherwise he would retire. Shane accepted, but the Rock then put on the stipulation that no one could interfere. Before the match Shane appointed himself as referee - it was a typical WWF main event, which involved a lot of brawling and the use of foreign objects like the steel steps and the ring bell. During the match Shane took the usual referee bump, Earl Hebner then ran to the ring and wanted to count the pin, when the Rock had hit the Peoples Elbow, but Shane pulled Earl out of the ring and beat him silly. Shane then got back in the ring and used a chair on the Rock, then a limo pulled up outside the arena - it was Vince McMahon, who went to the ring and knocked out his own son. Vince then put on the referee shirt, just as the Rock hit the Rock Bottom, Vince counted the pin and the Great One will go on to WrestleMania to face Triple H.

At Smackdown, Shane and the Big Show revealed that even though the Big Show had lost the match at Raw is War to the Rock, the Big Show wasn't out of the main event at WrestleMania, but the Rock was in the main event as well, so that it will now be a Triple H vs. the Big Show vs. the Rock in a three way dance for the WWF World Title. The Rock took on X-Pac, but the match was awarded to X-Pac by disqualification, when Kane interfered. Triple H and the Big Show then hit the ring, but the Rock and Kane cleared the ring.

At Raw is War, March 20, Triple H called out Vince, but instead Shane and the Big Show made their way out. Shane stated that the Big Show would take on Triple H for the title later in the show, but Triple H would have none of it, since he didn't had to defend the title until WrestleMania. Vince then came out and stated that the WrestleMania main event would take place the same night - Triple H agreed if there would never be a rematch. The start of the match of course saw Triple H and the Big Show to double team the Rock, but of course the two started fighting. As the Rock went for the Rock Bottom on the Big Show, Shane pulled the ropes causing the Rock to fall out of the ring - Vince then hit Shane and Triple H hit Vince. The Game then got back in the ring and nailed the Big Show with the Pedigree to win the match. The Rock then chased Shane through the crowd. Then Linda McMahon came out and congratulated Triple H, then she stated that she also had some one, who wanted to be a part of WrestleMania, she then stated that the main event at WrestleMania would be a Fatal Four Way Elimination match pitting Triple vs. the Big Show vs. The Rock vs. Mick Foley. Mick then made his way out and attacked Triple H and also the Big Show tasted the gold in his face - thanks to Foley.

The Rock went up against Buh Buh Ray Dudley at Smackdown, but it more or less turned into a handicap match, due to the interference from D-Von Dudley. After taking care of D-Von, the Great One hit the Rock Bottom and then the People's Elbow to take the victory.

At Raw is War, March 27, Triple H along with Shane attacked Vince, when Linda tried to stop Shane, Steph graved Linda, this brought out Mick Foley, who dominated until the Big Show floored him - The Rock then hit the ring, but he was taken out with the Showstopper, while Foley received the Pedigree. Later in the show the Rock and Vince McMahon took on the Big Show and Shane McMahon in a match were Triple H and Mick Foley served as special referees. The two referees fought among themselves and the contestants in the match. Foley stopped the Big Show from chokeslamming Vince, so the Rock hit the Rock bottom on Shane, and Foley counted the three count, so the Rock and Vince took home the victory. At Smackdown the Rock took on Kurt Angle, during the match Triple H and the Big Show made their way down. The Big Show chokeslammed the Rock, but it wasn't enough to keep him down, as he won the match. Triple H and the Big Show then attacked the Rock. Vince used a chair on the heels, but Shane knocked him out with the WWF Title belt along with the Rock and Triple H.

At WrestleMania 2000, April 2, it was time for the Fatal Four Way Elimination Match for the WWF World Title - pitting the Champion - Triple H against Mick Foley, the Rock, and the Big Show. Each man had a McMahon in their corner for support, because the match was also about control of the WWF. The Big Show started out strong and completely dominated the three other competitors, until they decided to gang up on him. After a chair shot from Foley, the Rock delivered the Rock Bottom to the Big Show to eliminate him. Mick and the Rock then teamed up to beat on Triple H, but eventually they turned on each other, since it was for the gold. Then Triple H and Foley worked on the Rock for a while. Triple H hit the Pedigree on Foley, but he kicked out, so the Game nailed him with a chair, and then delivered a second Pedigree on the chair to eliminate Mick Foley. But Foley returned with a 2X4 wrapped in barb wire and hit Triple H. The Rock and Triple H continued the battle, outside the ring Shane and Vince McMahon were fighting. Vince, who was supposed to support the Rock, turned on the Great One and hit him with a steel chair, but the Rock kicked out of the following pin attempt, but Vince returned with the chair and whacked the Rock again, so Triple H could retain his WWF World Title. Triple H thereby made WWF history as he is the first heel ever to walk out of WrestleMania with the WWF World Title. After the match the Rock delivered the Rock Bottom to Shane and then Vince, then Stephanie got in his face and after she slapped the Rock, she too felt the Rock Bottom and the People's Elbow Drop.

The next night at Raw is War, first Shane, then Triple H, and lastly Vince McMahon challenged the Rock to a match. Later they drew straws to see, who would face him and Shane ended up like the winner. During the match Triple H and Vince interfered, but the Rock fought back and hit the Rock Bottom on Triple H and then pinned him to win the match.

At Raw is War, April 10, the Rock demanded a shot at the WWF World Title, Vince McMahon then hit the arena, and stated that he made the Rock what he is today - Vince then stated that the reason he screwed the Rock at WrestleMania was due to the fact that the Great One never said: Thank you. Vince then stated that the Rock would get his title shot if he could beat opposition named later in a steel cage match. Triple H's music then hit and Vince tried to attack the Rock, but the Great One saw it coming and flattened McMahon. The Rock's opponents turned out to be the Big Boss Man and Bull Buchannon. The Rock dominated the early goings of the match, but against two the Great One had more than his share to look to. The Brahma Bull kept on fighting and after he hit the Rock Bottom on Buchannon, the Rock won the match and a shot at the WWF World Title. After the match Triple H hit the ring and used brass knuckles on the Rock, which got the Rock to juice big time.

At Raw is War, April 17, Linda McMahon announced that Steve Austin would be in the corner of the Rock at Backlash, when the Rock will take on Triple H for the WWF World Title.

The Rock clashed aginst Y2J at Smackdown in a Lumberjack match, where all the heels of the WWF served as the lumberjacks. The match went back and forth, eventually the two contestants decided to attacke the lumberjacks, but they got thrown back into the ring. As the referee was distracted Chris Benoit hit Jericho with the Swandive Headbutt, while the Rock was hit with the X-factor by X-pac. As the Rock was going to finish off Jericho, Triple H and then Shane interfered, so the Rock didn't get the pin. As the referee was distracted Triple H hit the Rock with the WWF Title belt and placed Jericho on top of the Rock, so Y2J was declared the winner.

At Raw is War, Vince McMahon stated that the Rock couldn't trust Steve Austin. The Rock however answered back by stating that neither the Great One or Steve Austin could trust Vince McMahon. Later the Rock teamed up with Y2J to take on Triple H and Chris Benoit. Shane McMahon served as the guest referee, so the faces really had the odds against them. The Rock and Chris Jericho fought bravely, but when it looked like the Rock was going to finish off the heels, Vince McMahon got in the ring and delivered a low blow, so Triple H could score the pin following a Pedigree.

At Smackdown, the Rock stated that he had been going through all kind of matches to get where he is now, so he wanted the McMahon-Helmsley regime to put him in a match, instead Triple H came out and said that both the Rock and himself would take the night off. The Rock also guaranteed that Steve Austin was in Charlotte. Later in the show the Rock introduced the McMahon-Helmsley regime to Steve Austin, who destroyed the DX Express.

At Backlash, Steve Austin didn’t show up when the match started, so the McMahon-Helmsley regime had smiles on their faces. The match between the Rock and Triple H was fought very hard. Vince nailed the Rock with the WWF World Title belt, but the Great One kicked out at two. The two men ended up fighting on the outside, where the Game wanted to Pedigree the Rock through the announcers table, but the Rock answered with a low blow and used a Rock Bottom on both Triple H and Shane McMahon to crash the furniture. The Rock then got HHH back in the ring, but Vince attacked, as the Rock went after Vince, Triple H stopped the Rock with a low blow. The Game then hit the Pedigree, but since Shane was still out cold, there was no referee to register the count, so the Stooges came from the back, but the Rock kicked out at two. Triple H, Vince, Patterson, and Briscoe then all started to beat on the Great One – then Austin’s music hit the speakers, and Steve showed up with a chair and brained all, excluding the Rock – as Austin walked away, Linda McMahon along with Earl Hebner raced to the ring. The Rock then hit a spinebuster and followed up with the Peoples’ Elbow to secure the win and thereby the WWF World Title. As the Rock was celebrating Austin reentered the arena towing the DX Express, he then got in the ring and he and the Rock toasted with a couple of beers.

The next night at Raw is War, Vince promised that the Rock’s regain would be the shortest in WWF history, since the Rock would face an opponent inside a steel cage. Later it was announced that the Rock’s opponent would be Shane McMahon. Pat Patterson served as the referee and he tried to help Shane, Triple H also helped Shane with stick, which he used from the outside. The Rock dominated even though, until Triple H went inside and started beating on the Rock, but after a scuffle between Earl Hebner and Jerry Brisco, the Rock had the time to escape the cage and win the match.

At Smackdown, May 4, the McMahon-Helmsley regime had had enough of Earl Hebner, so they teamed him up with the Rock to go up against Triple H, X-Pac, and the Road Dogg in a match - where Triple H would become WWF World Champion, if either the Rock or Earl Hebner was pinned. Triple H came to the match with his arm in a sling, but even though the odds were against the Rock and Earl Hebner, the Rock fought like a man possessed. During the match Chris Jericho came to the ring and attacked Triple H, but Vince McMahon clobbered Y2J. Meanwhile X-Pac wanted to nail the Rock with a chair, but Earl Hebner delivered a low blow to save the Rock, who then won the match by delivering the Rock Bottom to X-Pac.

At Raw is War, May 8, Triple H stated that he wanted the WWF World Title back, so he went on to challenge the Rock to an Iron Man Match at Judgement Day.

At Raw is War, May 15, it was announced that Shawn Michaels would act as the special referee in the Iron Man Match at Judgement Day. Vince also booked a non-title submission match pitting the Great One against Chris Benoit. The Rock was clearly at a disadvantage in his match against Benoit, since the Rock doesn't use many submission moves, but the two tore into each other to settle the score. Triple H helped Benoit reach the ropes, after the Rock had put the Crippler in a figure four leglock. The Rock then nailed Triple H, but then got caught in the Crippler Cross Face - Vince McMahon then called for the bell and Benoit was declared the victor. Benoit and Triple H then worked over the Rock, but he was able to get the better of them and set his eyes on Vince, who tried to escape, but was stopped by Jericho. A huge fight then broke out, where Jericho put Triple H in the Walls of Jericho, while the Rock delivered the Rock Bottom to Benoit - before DX ran in.

Vince McMahon booked at Smackdown, May 18, a match pitting the Rock against the Dudley Boyz in handicap table match, where the ring would be surrounded with lumberjacks. The lumberjacks was of course the heels of the federation and they interfered on numerous occasions. The Rock and the Dudley Boyz then decided to take it to the lumberjakcs and attacked them, but there were way to many, so the Rock ended up going through a table courtesy of Triple H.

At Judgement Day, May 21, the Rock and Triple H clashed in the Iron Man Match to determine who would walk out as the WWF World Champion. Before the match Triple H sent the rest of the McMahon-Helmsley regime to the back. It was an epic match, which really proved what both men can do in the ring – it also showcased, why the Rock and the Game are at their top in the WWF. The Rock scored the first fall after a Rock Bottom. The two then fought on and Triple H evened the score after the Pedigree, shortly after the Game rolled up the Rock for another three count, so Triple H was in the lead. Triple H also scored a pin after a piledriver. The Rock however fought on an scored a fall after a DDT, as the Great One was in control – the Game decided to use a steel chair on the Rock, which busted him open, but also got Triple H disqualified, which thereby evened the score. Triple H however took the lead after a sleeper hold, Shawn Michaels then got Triple H off the Rock, which lead to a shoving contest between the two. With only 8 minutes left Triple H got a lead with two falls as the Rock was counted out. Triple H then wanted to send the Rock through a table, but ended up going through it himself – the Rock got back in the ring as Triple H was counted out, Triple H was also busted open after the move. This got the McMahon-Helmsley regime members to the ring, however they couldn’t stop the Rock from evening the score after the People’s Elbow. Shane McMahon then pulled Shawn Michaels out of the ring, but Shane and Vince got a punch for it – in the meantime DX had attacked the Rock, some strange music then hit the speakers and the Undertaker made his way to the ring on a bike. The Undertaker took care of Degeneration X and the rest of the regime, when he turned his attention to Stephanie Triple H attacked. The Undertaker then chokeslammed Triple H and then followed up with the Tombstone piledriver, which got the Rock disqualified, this of course meant that Triple H won the match 6 falls to 5 as the time ran out.

The next night at Raw is War, Vince McMahon stated that the Rock would take on Triple H, Shane McMahon, X-Pac, and the Road Dogg. The Rock however had other plans, he took the matter into his own hands and beat up the various members of the McMahon-Helmsley regime and sent them packing. The Rock however didn't get a hold of Triple H, so he called him out, the two started fighting, but out of nowhere X-Pac and Road Dogg showed up and attacked the Rock, they were soon followed by Vince and Shane and the other McMahon-Helmsley regime members. As the heels were getting the best of the Rock, the Undertaker speeded to the ring on his motorcycle, he scared off the heels leaving only Triple H and the Rock. The show ended with the Rock sending Triple H through a table courtesy of the Rock Bottom.
