Destiny's Child first started in Housten, Texas, when Beyonce Knowles, now the lead singer of Destiny's Child was just 8 years old. She met LaTavia Roberson (who is no longer part of the band) whilst auditioning for a local children's group. Beyonce, her cousin, Kelly Rowland and LaTavia then started practicing as a girl band. Two years later, another band member was introduced, by the name of LaToya Luckett, and the four girls called themselves Destiny's Child. They got their name from a biblical inspiration from The Book Of Isaiah.

Beyonce's father, Mathew Knowles became their manager, and soon they were signed to Columbia Records in 1997, after touring with big names such as Immature and Dru Hill. Their first ever track was released on the Men In Black album, titled "Killing Time." This was their big break. Destiny's Child then released their first album, titled "Destiny's Child," on February 17 1998. It included calloborations with Timbaland, R Kelly, Wyclef Jean and Missy Elliott. The single, "No, No, No" was a hit in both the USA and the UK. After it was released, more hits came through, including "With Me," and "Get On The Bus." (Get On The Bus was also in the "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" soundtrack. For the next few months, Destiny's Child toured with Boyz II Men, K-Ci & Jo Jo and Uncle Sam. At the end of 1998, they won three awards at the 1998 Soul Train Lady Of Soul Awards.

In July 1999, Destiny's Child released their second album, "The Writings On The Wall." It was a huge hit, and has gone 9x platinum! (sold 9 million copies worldwide). The album had variations with Rodney Jerkins, Missy Elliott, Chad Elliott and Dwayne Wiggins. It included number 1 hits, with "Bills, Bills, Bills," "Bug A Boo," "Say My Name," "Jumpin, Jumpin," and released respectively. In March 2000, just before Say My Name was released, LaTavia Roberson and LaToya Luckett left the band due to problems with the management. Farrah Franklin and Michelle Williams joined the band to replace them. Within weeks, LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett filed a lawsuit against manager, Mathe Knowles due to the fact that they claim were fired as Beyonce and Kelly did not get along with them.

In 1999, Destiny's Child were at The Grammy Awards, and were nominated for Best R&B Performance By A Group With Vocals and Best R&B Song. In early 2000, Destiny's Child went on a tour in Europe. In August 2000, Farrah Franklin left Destiny's Child, leaving just Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. They continued to bring out superb hits, including "Survivor." In April 2001, Destiny's Child brought out their third and latest album, titles "Survivor." It includes huge hits such as "Survivor," "Independent Women," and "Bootylicious."
