THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS BELGIUM
Dear Sir/ Madam
A
Petition from the Southern Cameroons National Council SCNC Belgium, Sir/Madam, accept warm and sincere greetings from the Southern Cameroons National Council SCNC Belgium Branch. May your crown last long on your head. Sir/Madam it is with great worry that the people of
southern Cameroons digest the acceptance of the reconstruction of the
Mungo bridge by a Belgian construction company ,Six International. The
reconstruction of the Mungo bridge is tantamount to frustrating the
legitimate aspirations of the people of Southern Cameroons to self
determination .This frustration is visible because of the symbol the
bridge stood for. The bridge sealed the “reunification” of both the
Southern Cameroons and La Republique du Cameroun as per the Foumban
conference in 1961. Sir/Madam, Nature it self was not very comfortable with the continuous torments and deplorable state in which the Southern Cameroons finds her self and therefore caused the bridge to collapse. We implore your good conscience and diplomatic influence to reconsider the issue at stake and facilitate an official dialogue between the government of La Republique du Cameroun and officials of the Southern Cameroons National Council led by Chief Ayamba E. O and Nfor Ngala Nfor The crisis in the Southern Cameroons is a ticking time bomb. In fact it is a ticking time bomb whose minute hand runs with the speed of a second hand. We are begging the international community to prevent another war and genocide in Africa. Southern Cameroonians don’t want war, which is why we have resolve to THE FORCE OF ARGUMENT, NOT THE ARGUMENT OF FORCE to be our slogan and motto. As you read this petition right now, there are hundreds of innocent southern Cameroonians languishing in cells and prison centre across Cameroon. Most recently Southern Cameroons' National Council, SCNC, Communication Officer and former Provincial Delegate of Communication for the Northwest, Mr Ngewie Asunkwain was arrested in Bamenda. Before this, last month more than 36 youths of the Southern Cameroons Youth League were arrested in Mutengene and Muyuka and held at Gendarmerie Stations in SONARA Limbe. These youths are accused of fanning a Southern Cameroons army The SCNC calls on you to use your high office to mount pressure on Mr Biya and the Yaoundé regime to immediately release all Southern Cameroonian languishing in police cells and prisons all over La Republique du Cameroun. Bishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa once said ‘ If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.’ - In this light ,the Southern Cameroons National Council calls on you and your high office to rapidly take actions of solidarity and support to our country, our people, our women and our children, as an endorsement of the elementary right that we have to guarantee our integrity and right to self determination . Sincerely and on behalf of the Southern Cameroons People
