An Unusual Way To Cure A Slice Here is a drill I first saw used at a golf clinic by renowned teaching professional Chuck Hogan. A student told Chuck that he was a slicer and had never hit a hook in his life. So Chuck handed him a pingpong ball and paddle. Chuck told him to throw the ball up in the air and hit a high hook with the pingpong ball. After the student did that a few times Hogan teed up a golf ball for him, handed him a 5-iron and asked him to hit the same hook with the golf club. The student hit the most beautiful high hook you ever did see. Why does this work? To hit a hook with a pingpong paddle, you have to employ a rotating action with your forearm, and that is the same action you need to hit a hook with a golf club. You may not do it on the first try, but once you feel comfortable hitting hooks with the pingpong paddle, hit some golf shots with your right hand only (use a tee and a short iron). Then graduate to some two-handed golf shots. You'll be well on your way to curing that chronic slice. -- T.J. Tomasi ~|| stop golf slice |
