Price Hill, Its Beauties and Advantages as a Place of
Residence, was originally published in 1894 by editors Kelso
Murdock and Ralph F. Diserens, as a promotional piece to let
people know that Price Hill was the finest suburb in the city.
The 32-page book is a snapshot of our community one hundred
years ago, and it highlights schools and churches, fine
residences, clubs, and amenities in Price Hill. In addition,
there is a prospectus of the Cincinnati Street Railway Company,
ads from Price Hill businesses, and a map of the "Hermosa
Park" subdivision lots, the area around West Eighth,
Hermosa, and Carnation Avenues. This book was reprinted in a
limited edition of 500 copies with permission of the Cincinnati
Historical Society, which has the only preserved original of the
book, as far as we know. A Society member recently prepared a
comprehensive index for this book, and a copy of the index will
be included with each copy ordered. The reprint edition costs
$20, including tax.
