Jaime Rau founded Purely Committed after two years of considering the idea of a women's abstinence event. Jaime is from Minnesota and, she enjoys running, backpacking, and the visual arts. One of her past accomplishments includes The Acts of Kindness Award, awarded to her by Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura. Jaime was also invited to Washington D.C. where she and the current Miss America lobbied for abstinence education funding. Following her liberal arts education at Westmont College, she plans on pursuing her passion of photography further. Her greatest ambition in life is to be wife and a mother. Encouraging abstinence is Jaime's contribution to promoting healthier families and relationships.
In September of 2001, Jaime shared with the Westmont community her vision to coordinate an event to encourage college-age women to save sex for the commitment of marriage. Eleven women responded to the call with passion. The twelve joined together with other college students in Santa Barbara to encourage other ladies to make the commitment. They successfully coordinated the first One Knight Only banquet which hosted 250 college-age women from the community, half of which made the commitment to purity. The event took place at the Radisson Hotel, Santa Barbara on April 20, 2002; the keynote speakers included Kirk Cameron, actor from the hit sitcom "Growing Pains," and Mary-Louise Kurey, Miss Wisconsin 1999.
