A Personal Study
of
The Book
of
Daniel and The
Book of Revelation
The
Book of
Daniel
can be understood as an extended
allegory
describing the experience of the end-times saints
which is then explained within the pages of
The
Book of
Revelation.
Forgetfulness,
the changing of times and laws,
and the challenges of tribulation are all reoccuring themes
throughout The
Book of Daniel. Like the Book of Revelation it is a training
manual for the
saints at the time of the end. The Book
of Revelation is a message to the Lord's people who are Kings and
Priests unto their God, Revelation 1:6.
Daniel is also a story about kings and priests, but of a
darker
kind. The two stories are in direct contrast to one another. In The Book of Daniel
the Babylonian kings and priests are using Daniel and
his friends
for their own purposes. In the Book of Revelation the end-time saints,
the kings and priests of the true God, following the servant example
and teachings of the King of kings, challenge the oppression of Mystery
Babylon and prevail. All of this can be seen as an
extended parable describing the end of days struggle between
Mystery Babylon and the Ambassadors of heaven.
Let
us
compare and contrast these two end-time
books, by joining them together, and seeing them side by side. Perhaps
in
this way, we will see more clearly the hidden workings of God, and what
is happening behind the scenes. Let's take courage and
uncover our own place within the
fuller picture.
Study prayerfully to
discover the revelation of Christ, and perhaps even your own role
within
the plan of God.

"Children... skilful in all
wisdom, such as had ability
in them to stand in the king's palace, and
whom
they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans," Daniel
1:4. |
"And hath
made
us kings and priests," Revelation
1:6. |
Daniel was captured and brought
into the
kings palace. So also we
have been made both kings
and priests, dwelling with royalty within
God's kingdom, and possessing all the responsibilities and
priviledges of such an
honor.

"Then let our
countenances be looked upon before thee," Daniel

"His head
and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were
as a flame of fire... his
countenance was as the sun shineth in his
strength," Revelation
1:14,16. |
Just
as the countenance
of Daniel and his three Hebrew companions were
fairer than any of those in Babylon, so also it will be seen that the
church of Jesus Christ in these last days will excel in "knowledge and
skill, (and) in all learning and wisdom: (with) understanding in all
visions and dreams... in all matters of wisdom and
understanding... (we will be) found... ten times better than
all
the magicians and astrologers, Daniel
1:15, 20.
As the body of Christ,
our "head
and... hairs (are) white like wool, as white as snow; and
(our) eyes (are) as a flame of fire; And (our) feet like
unto fine
brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and (our) voice (is) as the
sound of
many waters," Revelation
1:14,15.
In our brokenness, O Lord, "in
the hidden part thou shalt make (us) to know wisdom... Then will (we)

thee." Psalms 51:6,

Write
the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are,
and the

1:19. |
Just
as Daniel had insight into visions
and dreams, so also John (and the
end time church), are shown the things that shall be hereafter.

"And the king

Forgetfulness
is a judgment upon those whose lives have become
interwoven with the confusion of Mystery Babylon. This
judgement must begin within the household of God, 1
Peter 4:17. It
will be a time of great tribulation. Even the kings of the earth will
forget,
and be troubled,
but the end-time saints who have fallen into
confusion break free through brokenness
and repentance, and will overcome. They will be shown the truth, and
will know the answers.
Come out of her my people. "Thou must prophesy again before many
peoples, and nations, and
tongues, and kings, Revelation

Repent;
or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with
the

This is a treacherous
time, and threats with the
sword are
seen repeatedly at this
point in the text. In contrast, the saints are in training, learning
to use Another
Type of Sword, which will eventually be used to utterly
destroy Mystery Babylon, and defeat the enemy, 2
Thessalonians 2:8.

For
those concerned about the
Mandela effect, this is "the" verse worth writing upon your
heart.:"Blessed
be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and
might are his: And
he changeth the
times and the seasons," Daniel
2:20,21. When these things begin to be seen, it is
time to get our
house in
order. Judgment must begin with the house of God. Great tribulation is
coming to those who will not repent. It is
the wake up call. It is the sound of the trumpet, "Jesus is coming."
"And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he
is pure, 1

God

And when these things begin to
come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption
draweth nigh, Luke
21:28.
It is in the days of these kings that the God of Heaven is setting up a
kingdom, which shall never be destroyed, Daniel
2:44. This is happening
now. It is through Christ the
headstone, and his
primary teaching (Thomas
55, 51)
that God goes to war and is
subduing his enemies. This is the message the end-time elect will
embrace. Those of us who endure to the end, and overcome, will be
seated on a throne, and our enemies will be made to bow before
us.

Even Kings will
acknowledge the true
God, when they see the insight given to the end-time elect, who
are caught up into the heavenly realms to behold the throne.

the third beast had

4:6-7. |
While the kings of the earth are
focused on a beast of their own
creation, reminiscent of the image of the beast with the number of 666,
the
end-time elect Sons see a vision of themselves worshipping
before the very throne of God. And they can do nothing else.

"The

Revelation
4:10. |
When the princes of the earth
are standing before the image 60 cubits high, and 6 cubits across, (reminscent of the number of the beast), and even before
they fall in idolatrous worship, then the elders and the
elect who run and fly with the Gospel, in their heart of
hearts are already falling down before him that sat on the
"true" throne, worshipping him that liveth for ever and ever.

Revelation

When the time of inquisition
arrives, the elect will answer with direct simplicity and
without guile, "Worthy is the Lamb that was
slain to receive power, and riches,
and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing." With
confidence they declare even to the King of Babylon, "We do
not need to defend ourselves
before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace,
the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us
from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know,
Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of
gold you have set up,” Daniel

behold the righteous judgment of God.

"And

And the heaven departed as a
scroll when it is rolled together; and
every
mountain and island were moved out of their places," Revelation
6:13,14.
"Every
free man... the dens... the mountains," Revelation
6:15. |
Through this deliverance and
righteous judgment even the King of
Babylon recognizes the power of God. He realizes his decree is
overridden by the God of heaven. Nevertheless, with characteristic
violence, the king then declares that those who speak against
the
God of these end-time elect shall be cut in pieces, and that their
houses would be made a dunghill. However, the God of
heaven chooses to deal with those who speak against
him in His
own way. The judgment continues and every enemy, from the kings to the
free men, tries to hide themselves from the presence and wrath of God.
Rather than, and worse than being cut in pieces and their
houses
being made a dunghill, the enemies of God chose to live in
hiding
in the dens, and in the rocks of the mountains, crying out even for
death, as if death might be a deliverance from the wrath of the lamb.

This is the day of
wrath. I saw men as trees. Who is able to stand? It is the
end-time elect who like Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow to the image of the beast. This
day begins with the King of Babylon saying, "Peace be
multiplied unto you," Daniel
4:1. But it is the true God of
peace
who sends out his messengers saying, "Hurt not the earth, neither the
sea, nor the trees," Revelation
7:2.

This is both a great and a

designated

"Unclean spirits like frogs

and out of the mouth of the false prophet,"
Revelation
16:13. |
Bind the hands of the
enemy. This is
a time to enter the house of the strong man and
ransack
it. Those who dare persecute these sealed children will find
no
place. These chosen ones will counter and defeat the lies of the enemy.
"And a great multitude, which no man could number (will) cry with a
loud
voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and
unto the Lamb," Revelation
7:9-10.

"Thus
were the visions of mine
head in my bed; I saw, and behold a
tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great. The
tree grew, and was strong,
and the height thereof reached unto
heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth: The
leaves thereof were
fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all... Hew
down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves... and let
his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth" Daniel
4:10-12,14-15. |
"After
this I beheld, and, lo, a
great multitude, which no man could
number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood
before the throne,
and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their
hands; And
cried with a
loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne,
and unto the Lamb," Revelation
7:9-10. |
This
next parallelism is a detailed explanation of the king of
Babylon losing his memory, his senses, and becoming as a beast of the
field. There is a picture of the kings and the respective inhabitants
of two very different kingdoms. One vision is of Babylon, and its king.
The other is of the Kingdom of God, and the lamb. As worship ascends to
the God of heaven, the king of Babylon is brought low. As a multitude
of saints stand worshipping the King of Heaven, waving palms
in
their hands, the King of Babylon is hewn down, the branches are cut
off, and the leaves fall to the ground.

"A
watcher... cried aloud... Let
his portion be with the beasts in the
grass of the earth: Let
his heart be changed from man's, and let a
beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him,"
Daniel
4:13,15,16. |
"These
are they which came
out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them
white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of
God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on
the throne shall dwell among them, They
shall hunger no more, neither
thirst any more... For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne
shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters:
and
God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes," Revelation
7:14-16.
|
Hew
the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave
the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a
band of iron
and brass, in the
tender grass of the field,"
Daniel
4:23. |
"The first angel
sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled
with blood, and they were cast upon
the earth: and the third part of
trees was burnt up, and all
green grass was burnt up," Revelation
8:7. |
In Daniel the king's heart is
changed for a time from that of a man to that of a beast.
This change of heart may
foreshadow the change to the evil beast
that the book of Revelation says will
be given life, even if it is only for a short
time.
However, the stronger emphasis
in this side by side parallelism is pointing to the
saints, to those who have been changed, but in a wonderful way. They
are washed and made white, and set before the throne.
This is in direct contrast to changes to the heart
of the king
of
Babylon, who is brought low. As an animal, the King of
Babylon
is driven from amongst his subjects, and seven times pass over him in
this horrible state. In contrast to the segregation of the Babylonian
King, the
saints serve before the thone of God, and their king shall dwell
amongst them. Though the king of Babylon is made to eat grass as the
oxen of the field, the saints shall hunger no more, neither thirst any
more for their God shall wipe away all tears, Daniel
4:25.

thoughts troubled him," Daniel
4:19. |
"And
when
he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the
space of half an hour," Revelation
8:1. |
Daniel is asked to
interpret the dream of the king. He is astonished for one hour,
and he is troubled.
The revelation declares that when the lamb opened
the seventh seal there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. For
the sake of the elect the days shall be shortened.

"O
king, and this is the decree
of the most High, which is come upon
my lord the king: That they shall drive thee from men, and thy
dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field," Daniel
4:24-25. |
"And there fell a great star from
heaven, burning as it were a
lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the
fountains of waters," Revelation
8:10. |
"Wherefore,
O king, let
my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and
break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing
mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity,"
Daniel
4:27. |
"And I
beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of
heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of
the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three
angels, which are yet to sound!" Revelation
8:13. |
Here
we get the idea that what is happening to the King of Babylon
is a
picture, a mirror image of what is happening in heaven. Just as the
King Of
Babylon is cast out from among men, in a similar manner, we read of a
great star cast out, and falling from heaven, and falling upon a third
part. This is reminiscent of the war in heaven when
"the
great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and
Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth,
and his angels were cast out with him... his tail drew the third part
of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth" Revelation
12:4,9. This is a story that is told more than once, and from
more than
one perspective.

"Oxen... eagles... birds... And
for the
glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and
my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my
kingdom," Daniel
4:36. |
"A scorpion... the locusts...
horses... lions... horses... scorpions... And they
had a king over them," Revelation
9:5-11. |
The
King of Babylon, Nebuchadnesser, comes to his senses and recognizes the
God of heaven, and the kingdom is restored, and he is restored to
power. He no longer "looks"
like a beast, but only after he acknowledges that it is God
who
sets up and puts down. Perhaps there is a hidden, but contrasting
parallel in this story of the king's forgetfulness. Perhaps,
the
end-time saints will also be restored to power after a similar
forgetfulness, or a similar period of time, It is God himself that
"doeth according to his
will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth,"
Daniel
4:35. This is a parable about the kingdom. Then the
revelation declares that various beasts come up out
of
the pit "and they (also) had a king over them"

5:9. |
"I saw another mighty angel come
down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his
head, and his
face was as it were the sun," Revelation
10:1.
|
Now
the story moves to another leader, to Belshazzar the king. He chooses
to
defile
"the golden and silver vessels... taken out of the temple which were in
Jerusalem," Daniel
5:2. He "repented not of the works of (his) hands,
that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver,
Revelation
9:20. Who are the gold and silver vessels taken from the
temple of God that the King of Mystery Babylon has defiled? 1
Corinthians 3:17.
The
writing is on the wall. "If any man defile the temple of god, him shall
God destroy." And yet the king declares, "Whosoever shall read this
writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with
scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the
third ruler in the kingdom. "Then came in all the king's wise men: but
they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the
interpretation thereof."
The
weakness and inability of King Belshazzar in the Book of Daniel
is now contrasted to the "mighty angel" in Revelation
10.
The king was cast out from amongst men, like
an angel
that was
cast out of heaven. The other angel (or messenger) comes clothed with a
cloud, and a rainbow was on his head, and his face was as the sun.

of the mighty angel. In both cases it is a message of doom for the
enemies of God, and a proclamation of the victory of the way of God.
The kingdom of the enemies of God is divided and destroyed, Daniel
5:28, Luke
11:18. Piercing through the walls and
divisions, the kingdom of God will increase by speaking the same
thing, and with One
Voice, Genesis
11:5-7, Hebrews
4;12.

5:6-7. Even John, in The Revelation,

10:9.
The message of Victory through Oneness with God is sweet, but at times
it might seem a bitter responsibility when it must be carried

Who

Babylon, "spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts

angels over seven churches
utter seven messages, Revelation
1-22, Revelation
21:17. This Lightning comes before The Thunder, Genesis

God himself has "made known unto

will declare these things, who will declare that "there
should be time no longer".
He will declare the interpretation, that the mystery of God should be
finished, as God has "declared to his servants the prophets," Daniel
12:4, Revelation

Peter 1:20. Joining spiritual with

manner be killed," Revelation
11:4-5. |
Go prophesy! Have no fear. As
all people once trembled before the King of Babylon and his decree, in
like manner, you will be heard. In
the days of your prophecy, if any would even want to hurt
you, they themselves will suffer the consequences. For
1260 days, the
end-time elect saints will declare this message. Just as the
judgment of God was given to awaken this end-time remnant
church, so also these have "power to smite the earth with all plagues,
as often as they will," Revelation
11:6.
(Here are some of the clues
pointing to the ministry of Moses and Elijah
as a type and figure for this end-time ministry:
Moses
and Elijah as a type the end-time church:
James
5:17, Mark
9:5-7, Revelation
11:6, Romans
11:17, Two
candlesticks,
Three
and a half days or years: Revelation
11:9, James
5:17,
Troubles: 1
Kings 18:17-18 and Revelation
11:10,
Rain:
Luke
4:25, Revelation
11:2-3,6, 1
Kings 18)
These
are the days of Elijah who had power to shut up heaven for three
years and six months, when great famine was in the land, Luke
4:25, Revelation
11:2-3,6. Though there was famine, God commanded the ravens
to feed Elijah. Jesus said, "The Spirit of the lord is upon
me to preach the gospel to
the poor," Luke
4:18. Jesus took care of the poor. The ravens took care of
the poor, 1
Kings 17:4. Even the gentile widow woman took care of the
poor, 1
Kings 17:9.
When these end-time
churches have completed the days of their
prophecy, the beast will rise to "make war... overcome them, and kill
them," Revelation
11:7. This is reminiscent of the war "against the
Lord of the heavens," and just as "Our lord was crucified" and rose and
ascended, so also in like manner, shall these faithful witnesses arise
and ascend, Revelation
11:11.
The following verses
mark the turning point in the two texts. These sayings pinpoint the
climax of both books.
These verses are the head of a
chiastic structure. Imagine each text folded at this
point. The top of the scroll is joined to the bottom of the scroll, and
the right is joined to the left. Each saying is interpreted by its
corresponding saying at the opposite end of the text. Like a
zipper slowly closing, joining the left to the right,
saying by saying, a
divided reality is about to be changed by the
completed spiritual perspective, like the joining of the thoughts of
one scroll written
on the front and on the back, Revelation
5:1. |

"Thou...

against the
Lord of heaven," Daniel

"Lie

our Lord

Jesus set the example of how to
face opposition. Become a disciple. Take up the cross, Thomas
55. It is the cross that brings heaven and earth together,
the right hand and the left hand hold each other, and
the male and the female are joined in marriage.
And so, the perspective changes
at this point. Here is the
cross, the
key to the proper interpretation of both texts.
It is at this point in the
Biblical texts that kingdoms
transition, and the kingdom of God is most prominently presented. The
Chiasmic Zipper is coming together.
His disciples said to
(Jesus), "When
will the kingdom come?" Jesus
said, "It will not come by waiting for it. It will not be a matter of
saying 'here it is' or 'there it is.' Rather, the kingdom of the father
is spread out upon the earth, and men do not see it," Thomas
113. His disciples said to him,
"When
will the repose of the dead come about, and when
will the new
world come?" He said to them, "What you look forward to has already
come, but you do not recognize it, Thomas 51"
The
church (the woman) gives birth to a Man-child who will rule all
nations, Revelation
12:4.
The enemies of God will seek to find fault with the administration of
God. And so, the princes of Babylon seek to find fault with Daniel, Daniel
6:4-5. However, as was previously declared "The kingdoms of this world are
become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ," Revelation 11:15. "If any man will hurt them, he
must in this
manner be killed," Revelation
11:4-5.

The days of a kingdom set

of
Babel, Mystery Babylon though characterized by confusion, has
down through the centuries apparently still been rising, but is now it
is beholding its demise, Revelation
11:12.

"And Darius the Median took
the kingdom... It pleased

|
"The
kingdoms of this world
are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ;
and he shall
reign for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders, which sat
before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,"
Revelation
11:15-16.
|
From an earthly
perspective, the kingdom is taken from King Belshazzar and given to Darius
the Median. For those with eyes to see it, the kingdoms of the world
are transformed into mere tools in the hands of the Christ.
"O king, he shall be cast into the
den of lions," Daniel
11:7. |

"And there
appeared another
wonder in heaven; and behold a
great red dragon, having seven heads and
ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third
part of the stars of heaven, and did cast

great dragon was
cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan,
which
deceiveth the whole world: he
was cast out into the earth, and his
angels were cast
out with him," Revelation
12:3-4,9. |
Daniel is to be cast into the
Lions Den. And a great red dragon is cast
into the earth. When Satan schemes against
Daniel to cast him out, rather Satan himself is cast out of
heaven. Concerning the end -time elect, "If any man will hurt them, he
must in this
manner be killed," Revelation
11:4-5.

O king, establish the

|
"And
the dragon stood before
the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as
soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child,
who was to rule
all nations with a rod of iron," Revelation
12:4-5. |
Cast down from a place of power,
trickery is used. The princes of the
earth "come near"
to deceive the king, and Satan appears before the man-child,
who
is to rule all nations. They hope to pressure him, and try to trick him
into believing that good is evil, hoping he will use his power to make
a decree, and oppose the chosen and the elect. With no authority of his
own, Satan attempts to deceive.
He points
to a
powerful decree from the throne, twists
it, and attempts to make it his own,
hoping to implement it
with violence, Matthew
10:16.
He
wants it to be believed that he has the power to change times, or to make a law, and
to enforce it. He does have the desire, but not
the power. He has the will, but not the way. (c.f. Daniel
7:25. He will "think
to change times and laws," but it only God who truly "changeth
the times and the seasons, he (God) removeth kings and setteth up
kings, he
giveth wisdom unto the wise and knowledge to them that know
understanding," Daniel
2:21.
And so his / their trickery begins.

Revelation
12:10. |
The woman, gives birth
to the man-child, Revelation
12:5. To the dragon God declares, "thou
art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon
thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy
life: I
will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and
her seed; it (her seed: the man-child) shall bruise thy head, and thou
shalt bruise
his heel," Genesis
3:15.
Does
this man-child have difficulty walking with a bruised heel?
And
so, and yet, despite the inevitable failure of Satan and his
followers, still he continues his accusations, for he is the accuser.
However, countering any accusations, a voice from heaven comes with
assurance, "Now is come salvation," Revelation
12:10.

"And they overcame him by
the blood of the Lamb, and by the
word of their testimony; and they
loved not their lives unto the death," Revelation
12:11.
|
Persecuted
within,
the King is able to see through the deception. The end-time elect also
overcome
this violent deception through a love of the truth. They persevere by
looking to the selfless act seen in the blood of the lamb, by
considering their own personal and peaceful acquisition of the truth
which was only obtained through a submission to God, and by
proclaiming their own personal expression of the
Testimony
of Jesus. Ultimately for these end time elect, it is the
proper understanding and use of the words of The
Testimony of Jesus, which is the sword of the
spirit, that
destroys the deception and even the deceiver, 2
Thessalonians 2:8-9.

6:19. |
"And the
earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth,
and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his
mouth," Revelation
12:16. |
And yet and still,
despite the kings efforts, Daniel was cast into "the
den of lions," and a stone (or teaching)
is "laid upon the
mouth of the den," Daniel
6:16-17.
This teaching is that just as Daniel was protected from the mouth of
the lions, so also the woman (the end time church who gives birth to
the man-child) is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time,
from the
face of the serpent" as "the
serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the
woman," Revelation
12:14-15.
Opposed
to the violence
of the enemy, there will be those even of the earth who will
side with God's elect.

The world will ask, "Who is able

13:4.
The world will wonder after the beast, but the beast is not
untouchable. God will touch anyone he wants. The LORD is a man of war, Exodus
25:3.
God is the one who sets up kings and puts them down. He will use anyone
and anything He chooses to accomplish His purposes. "Whatsoever the

continue forty and two months... it was given unto him to
make war with
the saints, and to overcome them: and power
was given him over all
kindreds, and tongues, and nations," Revelation
13:2-7. |
God does as he wills,
and yet and
still, when the King of the Medes or Mystery Babylon writes to all the
peoples of the earth saying, "Peace be multiplied unto
you," then
be sober and be vigilant,
Daniel
6:25, 1
Peter 1:2. When he writes "saying,
peace, peace; when there is no peace," then, at this point in the
revelation text, the beast will
"make war with the saints and overcome them," Revelation
13:7.
At
this point, because of the seriousness of this passage, and the concern
in the hearts of the saints, a deeper examination is warranted.
Take heed, the
beast is given power, Revelation
13:7.
To start with he speaks
great things against the saints. He blasphemes the tabernacle of
God, and accuses the church, and
those who dwell in heaven, Revelation
13:5-6. He speaks evil and rails against the "whole family in
heaven and earth," Ephesians
3:15. It is like the roar of a lion
trapped in a den, 1
Peter 5:8. He is given this power for forty and two months, Revelation
13:5. Be ready.
It
seems that after these accusations, he may then be able to take the
saints into captivity, and even kill them, but here is the
patience and the faith of the saints... "He that leadeth into captivity
shall go
into captivity: he that killeth with the
sword must be killed with the
sword," Revelation
13:10.
Remember,
he may be given some
power to kill
the body, (but) after that he has no more that (he) can do, Luke12:4.
And even that much, he could have no power at all to do, if it
were not given to him of the Father, John
19:11.
It
is our God who has the ultimate power over the dragon, the lion, and
the beast. Instead of fearing the beast, "rather fear Him who has power
to destroy both soul and body in hell," Matthew
10:28.
This
is a time of terrible persecution.
This is a time to remember "the patience and the faith of the
saints," Revelation
13:10. And remember "the lamb slain from the
foundation of the world," Revelation
13:8.
This reference to "the lamb slain" is a
clue referencing back
to the previously mentioned center or the Chiasmic Climax of the Book of Revelation: "Our Lord was crucified," Revelation
11:7-8. As the chiastic climax, "Our
Lord... crucified" is the Key to a proper interpretation of this entire
book, and also of this difficult passage. Let us consider Jesus, "lest
(we) be wearied and faint in (our) minds," Hebrews
12:3.
When
we remember back to this passage, then we see "the two olive trees and
the two candlesticks
(the
two churches) standing before the God of the earth," Revelation
11:4.
Side by side, let us look at these two
passages in the Book of Revelation concerning
the
persecution of the saints (or the two witnesses) to see
what insight they might yield.
Revelation
11:3-10
[11:3] And I will give power
unto my
two witnesses,
and they
shall prophesy
a
thousand two hundred and threescore days,
clothed in sackcloth.
[11:4] These are the
two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before
the God of the earth.
[11:5] And if
any man will hurt
them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and
devoureth their enemies: and if
any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
[11:6] These
have power to
shut heaven,
that it rain not in the
days of their
prophecy:
and have power over waters to turn
them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as
they will.
[11:7] And when
they shall have finished their
testimony, the
beast that ascendeth out of the
bottomless pit shall
make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
[11:8] And their
dead bodies shall lie in the street of the
great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our
Lord was crucified,
[11:9] And they
of the
people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see
their
dead bodies three
days and an half,
and shall not suffer their dead bodies
to be put in graves.
[11:10] And they
that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and
make merry, and shall send
gifts one to another;
because these
two prophets
tormented them
that dwelt on the earth.

Revelation
13:1-10
[13:1] And I stood upon the
sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven
heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads
the name of blasphemy.
[13:2] And the beast which I
saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear,
and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave
him his
power, and his seat, and great
authority.
[13:3] And I saw one of his
heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and
all the world wondered after the beast.
[13:4] And they worshipped
the
dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they
worshipped the beast,
saying, Who
is like unto the beast? who
is able to make war with him?
[13:5]
And there
was given unto him a
mouth speaking great things and
blasphemies;
and
power
was given unto him
to
continue forty and two
months.
[13:6] And he
opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme
his name, and his tabernacle, and them
that dwell in heaven.
[13:7]
And it
was given unto him to make
war with the saints, and to overcome
them: and power
was given him over all
kindreds, and tongues, and
nations.
[13:8] And all
that dwell upon the earth shall worship him,
whose names are not written in the book of life of the
Lamb slain from
the foundation of the world.
[13:9] If any man have an ear, let him hear.
[13:10]
He

the faith of the

Consider
the possibility that the two witnesses, the saints that dwell in the
heavens prophesy
for a thousand two hundred and threescore days
tormenting them that dwell on (and remain attached to) the earth. These
witnesses have power to shut
heaven, and smite the earth with all plagues, as often as
they will. In
response to their testimony the beast blasphemes against God and these
saints. It seems he tries to imprison the saints. However, he that leadeth into
captivity shall go into captivity. Here is the patience of the saints.
Eventually, the dragon shall be "cast... into
the bottomless pit, and shut... up... set (with) a seal... that he
should deceive the nations no more." Revelation
20:3. It is these (saints that) have power (even) to shut
heaven.

"Then king
Darius wrote unto
all
people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth;
Peace
be multiplied unto you. I make a decree, That in every
dominion of my
kingdom men
tremble and fear before the God of Daniel:
for he is the
living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not
be destroyed," Daniel
6:25-26.
|
"And it was given unto him
to
make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power
was given
him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell
upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not
written in the
book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the
world,"
Revelation
13:7-8.
|
"Who is able to make war with
this beast?" Concerning these saints, "if any man will hurt them, fire
proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies." Nevertheless, the beast shall
make war with the saints, and overcome them, Revelation
13:7. Again, the beast... shall
make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them, Revelation
11:7. Have patience. If any man will hurt these, he
must in this manner be killed. He that killeth with the sword
must be killed with the sword, Revelation
11:5, 13:10.
This
is the disciples following their Lord. The Lamb was slain, Revelation
11:9, 13:8.
And as our Lord was crucified, ( Revelation
11:8 ) so also the two prophets, lie in the street for three and
a half days.
They that dwell
upon the earth
send gifts one to another celebrating the end of these tormenting
prophets. It is the
ones who dwell
upon the earth who celebrate the end of these
two prophets, that the beast is given power
over, Revelation
11:10, 13:8.
Perhaps
this remembering of "the two olive trees and the two candlesticks
(the
two churches) standing before the God of the earth" will help
us understand what is happening when this time comes, Revelation
11:4. It may not be far away.
Daniel
was thrown into the den of the Lion, and the saints will be taken into
captivity. But let us remember, God is able to shut the mouth of the
Lion, even in the Lion's den. Because of this," the king was exceeding
glad
for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den.
So Daniel
was taken up out of the den, and no
manner of hurt was found upon him, because
he believed in his God,"
Daniel
6:23. So God is able to deliver. Consider the testimony of
Shadrach, Meshach,
and Abednego. "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to
the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this
matter. If it be so, our
God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning
fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But
if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we
will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast
set up," Daniel
3:16-18.
God
is able to save those who believe. His desire is to intervene and to
save. He will do what is necessary to accomplish his purpose. "Except
those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for
the elect's sake those days shall be shortened," Matthew
24:22.
Remember
that "the gates of hell shall not (truly) prevail against"
them, for they two are the One body, the church, Matthew
16:18-19. When you make the two one, you will rule over the
all, Thomas
2, 22. The gates of hell shall not prevail, overcome
or be superior in strength to the church possessing
these keys, Matthew
16:18-19, Matthew
/ Thomas 51,55. "Through faith and patience
(like Daniel and his friends) inherit the promises," Hebrews
6:7.
What
is this key that the church possesses? What is the way out?
It is seen in the example of Jesus. It is to carry the cross like
Jesus, Matthew
16:19
/ Thomas 55 (and 51.)
Jesus
said, "Whoever does not hate his father and his mother cannot become a
disciple to me. And whoever does not hate his brothers and sisters and
take up his cross in my way will
not be worthy of me," Thomas
55. "If any man have ears to hear let him hear," Revelation
13:9. (Taken from The
Joint Revelation Chiastic Study ) Following the example of
Jesus we
renounce everything of this life.

the dream, and told the sum of the matters," Daniel

"Whose

13:8. |
The reader is again reminded of
the contrast between the deliverance of
Daniel and the lack of deliverance for those who worship the beast,
those whose names are not
written in
the Lamb's book of life. King Darius has a dream that he
writes down. He appears to be writing
about a ruler over those who are not
written in
the lamb's book of life.

Coming up out of the confusion
amongst the peoples of the earth (and
the
sea) beasts arise. The beast arises out of the chaos which is Mystery
Babylon.

These next verses describing the
beasts in Daniel's vision are sobering. "A man`s heart was given" to a beast, Daniel
7:4 just as the dragon had "power to give life unto the
image of the beast," Revelation
13:15. This could be a fearful time,
but I am reminded that the man-child is
caught up to
God, and the seed of "the woman" shall bruise the head of the
serpent.
1st
Beast |
"The
first was like a lion, and had eagle's
wings: I beheld till the wings
thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made
stand upon the feet as a man, and a
man's heart was given to it,"
Daniel
7:4.
|
"And
I stood upon the sand
of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads
and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the
name of blasphemy. The beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and
his feet were as the feet of a bear (c.f. the 2nd beast), and his mouth
as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his
seat, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as it were
wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world
wondered after the beast," Revelation
13:1-3. |
The first (beast) was like a
lion, and had eagle's
wings: I
beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, Daniel
7:4. The third beast "had
upon the back of it four wings of a fowl," Daniel
7:6. A dragon reminds me of a serpent
with his wings restored, Revelation 12:15-16.
It is like a beast whose deadly wound is healed, Revelation
13:3, 13:12-13.
Wings are significant. The
angels of God will fly with their message, Revelation
14:6. In a deceptive imitation, this
dragon gives life to the image of the
beast that it should
speak, which had the deadly wound by the sword and
did live, Revelation
13:14-15. The image of the beast has an
evil and dictatorial message from the dragon to give to the peoples of
the earth. In contrast, when the living creature of God
runs with a
message, then it flies and brings a
message of freedom, Psalm
91:4,12,13, c.f. The
Living Creature.

2nd Beast |
"And behold another beast, a
second, like
to a bear,
and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth
of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise,
devour much flesh," Daniel
7:5.
|
"The
beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his
feet were as the feet of a bear," Revelation
13:2. |
This
second beast reminds me of "Smokey the Bear" becoming the "Smokey
Bear." ;) "I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body
destroyed, and given to the burning flame. As concerning the rest of
the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were
prolonged for a season and time," Daniel
7:11-12.
3rd Beast |
"After
this I beheld, and lo another, (the third beast) like a leopard, which
had upon
the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also
four heads; and dominion was given to it," Daniel
7:6. |
"And
I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns
like a lamb, and he
spake as a dragon. And
he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth
the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose
deadly wound was healed.
And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from
heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell
on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in
the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that
they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword,
and did live," Revelation
13:11. |
Remember the woman, who gives
birth to the man-child, Revelation
12:5. In the beginning, God said to the serpent concerning
the coming Christ and the Man-child, "I
will put enmity between thee (the serpent), and between thy seed and
her seed (The
Christ and the Man-child); it shall
bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise
his heel," Genesis
3:15.
This deadly wound came with the
curse, for the serpent had spoken in the
garden, and had challenged the word of God, Genesis
3:4: "God said... thou
art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; Upon
thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy
life," Genesis
3:14.
In
this chapter the serpent tries to reverse this prophecy by lifting
up his heel against God's end-time chosen elect, just as he did with
Jesus. "Yea, mine own familiar friend,
in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel
against me," Psalm
41:9, John
13:18.
Just as the serpent failed in his attempt to defeat God by attacking
Jesus, so also these end-time saints will triumph through the
resurrection.
Though the serpent tries to lift
up his heel against God's end-time chosen elect, still I like to remember that
a distance runner is able to run
for long distances just on the balls of the feet.

4th Beast |
"And a man's heart was given to
it... and
dominion was given to it... a fourth beast... it
had
ten horns," Daniel
7:4,7.
"After
this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful
and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it
devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of
it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it
had ten horns. I considered the horns, and, behold, there came
up
among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the
first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were
eyes like the eyes of man, and a
mouth speaking great things," Daniel
7-8. |
"And
he
had power to give life unto the image of the beast,
that the
image
of the beast should both speak,
and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast
should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and
poor,
free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their
foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had
the
mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his
name count
the number of the beast," Revelation
13:15-18. |
The antichrist spirit is setting
up a world
kingdom where no one can buy or sell without the number of the
beast. There is only one
way out - renounce
the
system. Take up the cross and follow Jesus in his way.
