Bret Marquardt, also Bret Tyler, has been writing in the fields fo
horror, western and sci fi for about seven years. I have yet to have
anything published though since I live near such notable writers as Ed
Bryant, P D Cacek, Dan Simmons, Steve & Melanie Tem and others, I have
been fortunate to attend many author readings and discussion groups. The
response I have received from them and publishers makes me feel it's
only a matter of time.
I have always been creative. My teens and early twenties I was a guitarist in a heavy metal band. I still play with friends when I get the chance. I left music to pursue writing because of my love of reading and of all types of horror movies. The story ideas I had running in my head (and still do) just demanded to be written down.
Most of my writing tends to be dark as you will no doubt see. I think I write more about the darkside because I am competing with the everyday horrors of mankind. I have absolutely no aversion to the blatant and graphic destruction of the human body on the written page. In contrast I the real world I am very laid back and patient. Horror is my therapy. My name is Jade. My imagination, at this moment, is pushing against me,
trying to nock me out of my chair and seize the computer keyboard. I am
holding it at bay with my left foot while I type furiously.
I began writing music and fiction when I was 10, took a break to raise some
kids, am now am at school studying computer science. Yikes, it's now
pulling my leg, I have to go, if it gets the computer you guys will be
reading all night, and none of it will be true!

NAME: Cariad Morgon aka Cari de Maus
OCCUPATION: Administrative Assistant in an environmental office --
we're out here saving the tortoises! Woohoo!
WANNA-BE OCCUPATION: Author
Writing is something my music teacher got me into, lo, these many years
past -- we're talking elementary school here. Started out writing
mysteries but wasn't very good at it. Branched into sci-fi/fantasy and
have been scribbling, typing, and brainstorming ever since.
Minored in English to help improve my writing skills. Have written
occasionally for fanzines; given stories as gifts; edited a small local
paper for a short time and would still be doing so except for the lack
of a good paycheck; taught PE, music and special ed for 3 years until
the futility and economics got to me. Currently in a good job and have
been trying to actually sit down and *finish* a novel. Hysterical
laughter, you say? Really? You must be imagining things.
Horror writing has always interested me, not least because the genre is
so diverse. The sort that appeals to me most is the suspenseful,
nail-chewing, goose-bump raising stuff that with just the slightest
sidestep from reality might very well happen. Since a couple of my
stories are leaning in the horror direction, the Dark Haven list seems
an excellent opportunity to hone the sort of skills that will leave my
readers with chills and make them sleep with a night-light on.

My name is S. Angel Hall and I am junior in college majoring in Library and
Computer Sience with a double minor in Psychology and Spanish. I am in my
early 20's and have had a passion for writing since I was about 12. It really
all started from the telelvision for me. I would see a movie or t.v. show and
afterwards I would come up with new twists or ideas to comtinue on with the
characters. I do have an open mind about all genres but dark horror,
psychological thrillers, and gothic type horror is what I enjoy most. I
consider writing horror (for me) an excape of my everyday life. I love my
life and things in it and I just thank God that He has given me a passion to
write.

I suppose it's a good thing I read the "Welcome Message" post-haste lest I be immediately sent to the 'executioner' out there in cyberland. :)
Teasing, of course.
At any rate. I'm Ivan--run a webzine you may or may not have heard of, FrightNet Online Magazine, and editor of the anthology Dark Whispers which was released October of last year. I'm usually extremely busy but I do very much enjoy sitting in on some of these discussion lists and plopping my two-cents in here and there. Hope that's okay.
I look forward to meeting all of you.
