Diana, Princess of Wales

When Princess Diana died over a year ago in that horrific Paris car crash, the world went into shock. People from every place in the world mourned the passing of the world’s famous woman; one who wasn’t wrapped up in herself, one who cared for everyone of all walks of life. Diana was the first royal who ever demonstrated that they cared about people, and she wasn’t even a “proper” royal, she only one who married into the family. The Queen felt it necessary to remove Diana’s title, but title or not, Diana will always be the most popular and well loved royal. I hope her sons can follow in her footsteps and break out of the stern upbringing they now face. I hope William is the King Diana would want him to be.

Why then, one year after this extraordinary woman’s passing has the world not been able to let go of her? Why does her beautiful face keep haunting us? Why does it still feel like she never died? I constantly think to myself that she never really died and it was some dream. I think that the real reason we haven’t been able to let Diana rest in peace is because we don’t believe the true explanation for her death. Was it really an accident? I don’t think it was.

While reading this, you as the reader may call me someone who is just grasping for any other explanation other than the drunk driving one. But deep in my heart I don’t believe it was an accident. I think certain people plotted to kill Diana because she was going to marry Dodi Fayed, an Egyptian and they couldn’t accept that the heir to the throne would possibly have a half Egyptian brother or sister. I feel the answer to Diana’s death goes deeper than just an accident; that she was assassinated. It’s a story that hits traditionalism and racism.

I also feel that Diana was pregnant at the time of her death. Some of the later pictures I saw of her in her swim suit, she seemed to have a pregnant stomach. This could have been just her gut; but would a woman who was the most photographed woman in the world let herself have a gut? Highly unlikely. Again, though this is just my speculation.

In the past year, my thoughts have often been about Diana. I can’t believe she’s gone, after a year and a half. I feel sorry for her and the life she had. I feel sorry for her children and how they lost their mother. No child deserves that. Granted, many people have worse lives, but hers was so public. When she was happy, the papers showed her happy, when she was sad, they showed her sad. We lived through all of her emotions, we cried and laughed with her.

People always seem to look up to royalty, and everyone looked up to Princess Diana. She wasn’t perfect by any means, but she was human and people can identify with that. They don’t want stuffy royalty who feel they are much better than them, they want one of their own, and Diana was just that. I never met Diana. I, like many others wished they had only had the chance; but yet, I feel as though I know Diana as well as my best friend. That is the kind of effect she had on not just me but everyone. Diana cared for everyone, especially those people tend to not pay as much attention to. For that I admire her and she will always be held in high regard in my opinion.

There are those who don’t like Diana, and say she wasn’t the angel she was made out to be. And that’s probably true and she admitted that. Everyone makes mistakes. Right now, there is a book coming out by Penny Junor called “Charles: Victim or Villain?” and it has been called an anti-Diana book. Ms. Junor must not have much class, why would you try to tarnish someone’s memory who died tragically and especially one woman who millions if not billions held and hold in such a high regard. I guess it goes to show you that money speaks volumes. There has been speculation that Charles and Camilla played a part in the making of this book. They denied it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were a part of it. Instead of saving his own behind, Charles should have done the right thing not only for the country but for his children and ban the book. I guarantee it would have got a lot more public support than what is going on now.

I’m sure everyone remembers where they were and what they were doing when they found out Diana died. The days after her death before her funeral were a very weird time I thought. Everywhere was sad, and her death put a damper on the world. It’s so amazing how one woman can have such an effect on humanity. Diana worked hard, and we can’t ever forget her. I plan on telling my children stories about a great woman, a real life princess who did so many good things for people, and had she had lived, she would have continued on doing great things for our human race.

It’s been long enough now. It’s time people stopped making money off our Princesses death. If there were any products needed to be done to commemorate her life, ALL proceeds should have gone directly to her memorial fund. People profiting off someone’s death is horrible and I don’t know how someone could do it. We need to let Diana rest in peace, but we will only able to once we find out all the circumstances about her death, which I doubt will ever happen. But, in the meantime, things need to die down, for the sake of her children. We need to let her go, and that is hard to do, especially for someone who lived most of their life in the public eye. If anything we can be happy with the fact that our Princess died when she was at her most happiest for a long time with someone she truly loved.

Isn’t it funny how you don’t realize how precious something is until you lose it?
