"Stop your useless fighting; the Quintessons are the real enemy!"
Ironhorse began life as the dreaded Ritterkreuz, a Decepticon-design warrior built to be a hitman for the Quintessons, who rebelled against them at the end of the First Great War and dedicated his life to their destruction. Older than almost anyone can remember, Ironhorse has survived by his ability to free his spark from any body it inhabits. He might possibly die if his body went offline with his spark inside it. Trapped in a Quintesson ship that crashed on Earth, Ironhorse found himself forced to take on the body of a sparkless protoform until he can find both a means to repair his Decepticon form and enough usable fuel to enable his former body to break the atmosphere of Earth.
Ironhorse exists to kill and his legend has spread throughout the galaxy. He has no patience with Cybertronian wars, whether between Autobot and Decepticon or between Maximal and Predacon. He believes that all Cybertronians should rally together against the true enemy, the Quintessons, and finds himself endlessly frustrated by the constant "infighting." While he blatently refuses to take sides, he may occasionally act to help his allies. Pantera recalls him from the future as a friend, and he honours this friendship even though he does not remember her. He has trouble making friends and spends most of his time alone.
Ironhorse's extremely advanced stealth capabilities extend beyond mere cloaking and light refraction to the ability to shift portions of his mass into a parallel dimension very close to the main one. He is virtually indetectable when cloaked. He is reluctant to shift his entire mass to the Other Side lest he find himself unable to return. He can even shift other masses to the Other Side, but greatly dislikes doing so.
Ironhorse carries wrist rockets in robot form, machine guns in the tips of his wings, an energon sword with a serrated blade, and a bronze gun called the Azrael which fires a beam that can disintegrate matter on contact. The Azrael becomes his horn when he is in winged unicorn form. The metal wings are impervious to most weaponry.
Ironhorse's greatest weakness is his inability to make allies. Basic social skills elude him. He exerts an aura of death that causes most others to instinctively fear him. He could probably sway the course of the Beast Wars on his own power, but he considers himself above taking sides--and refuses to take orders from anyone.
